We recently posted about Home Depot’s Black Friday 2020 tool deals, and now it’s time to talk about Lowe’s sales flyer.
Lowe’s Black Friday 2020 tool deals focuses on 3 main brands this year – Craftsman, Dewalt, and Kobalt, in no particular order. And there is a LOT from these brands.

Lowe’s deals are said to be valid from 11/26/2020 thru 12/2/2020, except where noted otherwise. Some of these deals might also be live already and in their gift centers.
Check it out: Lowe’s Online Gift Center
Following are tool-related sections of Lowe’s sales flyer.
There’s nothing really surprising here, except… competing Craftsman and Kobalt mechanics tool set deals?
For $99, Craftsman gives you a 232pc mechanics tool set, and Kobalt gives you a 227pc mechanics tool set with bonus 5pc precision screwdriver set. So… Craftsman or Kobalt 232pc tool sets, your choice, for $99.

This is going to be the HOTTEST Kobalt tools of the season. I have yet to see either of these at any Lowe’s store, but have seen photos of them online.
First there’s a Kobalt 40V Max ride-on jeep Power Wheels-like car for kids.
There’s also a Kobalt 24V Max-powered Razor scooter.
Craftsman’s 20V Max cordless drill kit will be on sale for $59. Or… you can buy it from Amazon for the same price right now, no waiting.
The Dewalt Xtreme 12V Max cordless tool set seems interesting – you get a drill/driver and one-handed reciprocating saw, 2 batteries, charger, and backpack, for $179.
Lufkin’s “Command Control” 25′ tape measure will be on sale for $10.
Also See: Milwaukee 2x 25′ tape measures for $10 deal
They’ll have this Little Giant 17′ multi-position ladder for $99. An alternate flyer shows a $109 price.
This is a good price, but for the record I greatly dislike these types of ladders in extension ladder mode. I bought a “real” extension ladder and have been so much happier with it.
Lots of Craftsman ball bearing tool storage options here. It would be nice to see some colors other than red and black – maybe next year?
That Craftsman 33 gallon air compressor for $329 deal caught my attention. How would you rate that deal?
Kobalt Double Drive is back again for 2020! Sure, it’s gimmicky, but some users really like it, such as electricians who use it to speedily install and remove wall plates, or so I’ve heard.
Discounts on circular saw blades, drill bits, screwdriver bits, and more.
Oh – that Bosch 10pc jig saw blade is also $10 via Amazon right now, no need to wait for Black Friday.
Craftsman’s XL pro small parts organizer will be $25. Meanwhile, Home Depot stores have hundreds of Dewalt organizers on sale for $10 each. The Craftsman offers a little greater storage density due to the handle design.
But, I have to say – if you’re spending $25 on a red and black plastic organizer tool box, would go for Craftsman or Milwaukee?
Lowe’s will have a selection of Spyder power tool accessories on sale, as well as select Craftsman garage storage products.
I spy… a new Craftsman Versastack-compatible tool bag. I am fairly certain there’s a Dewalt Tstak one just like it, in Europe, but it’s still nice to see expansion of the Versastack lineup here.
Again, no real surprises here.
Lowe’s will have the new Bosch cordless drill kit special buys for $99.

Miter saws and nailers, oh my.

Lowe’s has a new Dewalt promo – buy a Dewalt cordless power tool starter kit or combo kit, get a free tool or accessory.
They have a slew of other Dewalt cordless power tool kits and combo kits on sale, some of which we’ve already written about.

Kobalt 24V Max XTR brushless power tools are back for the holidays! I’ve continued to use the tools provided to me for our sponsorship campaign, and they’re still quite good. Read more about that here:
I was hoping to see some new Craftsman V20 cordless power tools, or the single tool kits that they featured in past years’ holiday seasons. There are still some nice choices though if you were hoping to buy into the Craftsman cordless power tool system, or expand your existing kit.
There are some ladder deals, as usual. An alternate sales fly has all of these ladders and platforms at $10 more.
Home Depot had a similar step ladder on sale, also with 3 steps and a 225 lb capacity, but their deal by Gorilla Ladders is priced at $9.88 compared to Lowe’s $20 promo price.
There are still more tools featured in Lowe’s holiday gift center than are featured here, and we’ve seen images of a couple of other deals that are neither in the tool sections of their Black Friday 2020 sales flyer. There are bound to be more deals, and we’ll know more as Thanksgiving approaches.
Thank you to Aaron for the heads-up!
Your Thoughts?
I would have expected a little more hand tool brand variety, even among Stanley Black & Decker brands, such as with Irwin and Lenox offerings. That would have mixed some color into the very prominent Craftsman, Dewalt, Kobalt dominance. But, I suppose Lowe’s know what will sell well this time of year and what might not.
What do you think about Lowe’s 2020 Black Friday and Thanksgiving weekend tool deals?

I’m seeing a lot of similar items that are much cheaper at HD. Like 46″ work platform is $34 @ Lowes but Gorilla one is $24 @ HD. Little Giant 18′ ladder is $79 @ HD but $99 @ Lowes.
Doug N
I was hoping to see the new Little Giant King Kombo ladder featured. Thanks for the breakdown, Stuart!
John
I need a start-from-scratch ratchet/socket set for DIY around house. Wondering if anyone has an opinion about the $49 Kobalt set (or, alternatively, the $99 set, though I’d prefer to not spend that much). Thx!
Andrew
I have the $99 dollar craftsman set next to it on the flyer. Pick the brand you like more and it will serve you the rest of your life. They are good sets. If you do things like drum brakes you may need specialty tools but those two sets will get you through 99% of everything.
Stuart
What exactly are you looking for?
A long time ago I started with 1/4″ and 3/8″ sets and then moved to a 94pc set for $50. I eventually added a 1/2″ ratchet and 1/2″ socket rails, plus extra drive accessories.
Spending more at the start will help save money down the road, but you can still get a lot done with a smaller 1/4″ and 3/8″ starter set.
There are also some Husky sets at Home Depot to look at, and there will likely be a Dewalt mechanics tool set as part of HD’s online deals come Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
Daniel
Hoping to get a jobsite table saw this year. I’m thinking of the Dewalt 4891 (I think). What are the chances of that going on sale after we’ve already seen the big stores’ deal announcements?
Aaron
The Ridgid is a solid saw and is$350 with stand, might drop back to $299 again
King duck
I second the rigid saw it is damn nice
Stuart
There are always bound to be last-minute table saw deals at the big box stores and online dealers.
In addition to the Ridgid deal Aaron mentioned, there’s a Hitachi/Metabo HPT deal at Acme right now.
Steve
Prices are up a bump on almost everything this year it seems.
Tom M
As someone who has previously worked with both THD and Lowe’s, Black Friday deals are typically locked in at least 9 months in advance. The pricing here likely reflects the impact of tariffs and supply chain uncertainties. Remember, 99% of these items come from China, India or southeast Asia. China was already dealing with the impact of COVID-19 on manufacturing facilities as early as November and December 2019, so it is highly likely that suppliers took that into account when pricing out their Black Friday offers and making pitches to the big box retailers.
Steve
I agree.
Aaron
It’s worth remembering that Lowe’s backend catalogue system is a dumpster fire and that as each deal goes live there’s maybe a 5% chance that they screw up and have glitch pricing for an hour or several. Last year when they marked the kobalt socket set down to $99 they managed to put it at $37 for 2 hours… And honored it. The best deals at Lowe’s will be in the next few weeks as they introduce new glitches, but these are the items to watch.
John
All the Lowe’s are placed at the perimeter of the city so it’s rare I get to one unless necessary. There are several items I would buy but none of them will ship to home. The steel sawhorses are shipped via delivery truck at $65 for a $65 item. Fail for Lowe’s this season.
Tom D
Sometimes Home Depot will price match a Lowe’s ad even if getting to Lowe’s would be impractical.
mattd
It really does seem like they looked at the homedepot deals, matched their products, and upped the price by 20-30%. the ladders and workplatforms are all significantly cheaper at HD for the similar product, the similar workbench tool box is $50 cheaper at HD, the same size stainless trash can is half the price at HD, their ratchet straps are cheaper at hd, I do not understand this add at all.
mattd
The only thing I can think of is that because they are starting later they are hopping to grab sales from the customers who waited and then could not get these deals from Home Depot because they are all sold out.
Mike
What’s the consensus on the dewalt 12in miter blades. A general type blade and a 60T for 35$ seems reasonable. As most finer blades are like 45$ for 1. But would you think I would mostly not even use the 24t. I don’t do much rough work so maybe iam talking myself out of it lol. I tend to like diablos blades
Stuart
They have some better blades, such as FlexVolt-branded.
General type blades are going to be fine for framing and rough finish work, but for clear cuts I typically go with finish blades either from Dewalt or other brands, depending on size and intended usage.
Generally, I’d consider a like-priced Dewalt blade to be in the ballpark of like-priced Diablo blade.
Big Richard
The 12in set is a general 32T and a 80T, not a 60T. The 10in set comes with a 60T, neither comes with a 24T.
Either way, both the 10in and 12in sets are their construction series, lower end of their quality range. Thin-ish plate (0.069″) and kerf (0.095″) for faster cuts and has reinforced shoulders for potential nails/staples and anti-kickback. 7 degree hook angle is suitable for a sliding miter, but some of their better blades have a -5 degree, which is ideal for trim work.
Their 12in Precision Trim blade they also have on sale for $39.98/ea is a better blade if you are doing some more detailed work. Slightly thicker plate (0.079″) and kerf (0.106″) for less blade deflection and less shoulder reinforcement for smoother cuts.

The Dewalt freebies are kinda weird with their mix and match.
For example, it doesn’t look like you could buy the Power-Detect Hammer drill and then get a free router.
Clay
Looking online, it looks like you can do just that! Though they are out of the router right now…
Stuart
Here’s the Lowe’s Link for Reference/Convenience
Wow, the brushless circular saw is also an option for the free bonus deal. That’s not shown in the flyer, but I see it on the product page under the “select your free gift” options.
Mike
Just bought the DCK299D1W1 Power Detect XR POWER DETECT 2-Tool 20-Volt Max Brushless Power Tool Combo Kit $314.10 with military discount + Free 20v Router
Evadman
Home depot had (maybe still has) the jigsaw and router for 199 total. I picked mine up yesterday.
Will
Hardly any metabo deals.
Stuart
True, but there are a couple more at Acme Tools – https://toolguyd.com/acme-tools-black-friday-2020-deals/
Albert
One item I didn’t see in the ad: Dewalt 4 case bit set for $25. I can’t find a set I like and am thinking about making my own using these cases. It sure seems wasteful though.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-110-Piece-Shank-Screwdriver-Bit-Set/1001307028
Stuart
I don’t know? I bought some of Home Depot’s deals with the intent to swap things around. This set could be a good value for the cases. Two smaller sets would be $20, this set gives you 4.
Hard to say.
You can get the medium ToughCase separately – https://toolguyd.com/5-reasons-to-buy-this-dewalt-toughcase-parts-organizer/ – but not any inserts for it that I’ve seen.
Steve
Last year I bought the 4 case set when it was $20 just for the cases and did just that, made my own sets. I don’t use most of the cheap bits that came in them, they’re just buried in a container I keep way in the back.
Aaron
hehe yeah, I use mostly milwaukee tools in dewalt cases and this is not really an exception… those 4 cases and bit holders are nice but the bits won’t really hold up to real work and the assortment is pretty worthless. I think I’ll be swapping in from the $10 milwaukee kit!
Toolfreak
Seems like there are several different versions of the Lowe’s ad on black friday ad sites, with different prices on certain items.
Stuart
I took a look, and you’re right!
The only notable tool differences I’ve seen is on all the ladder and ladder-type products being priced at $10 higher in the alternate ad. Weird.
Thom
Is it just me or does Lowes Black Friday sale seem uninspired?
A&P mechanic
Hi Guys,
Anyone know of any upcoming deals on hanging garage wall cabinets for the holidays?
I had planned to buy several hanging gladiator cabinets. In years past, they would always go on sale for $100 a cabinet at Lowe’s and Sears. I noticed Lowe’s was not doing any Gladiator cabinet sales this year for the holidays. While I would like the gladiator cabinets, I would open to buying a different brand if it’s going on sale. Thank you in advance!
Stuart
I haven’t seen anything yet, but Home Depot might have a “deal of the day” featuring their Husky welded cabinets, and maybe/hopefully the New Age Pro series wall cabinets they also carry.
I’ve bought the New Age Pro and would order them again.
There are other New Age lines, such as “Bold” but I don’t know much about their quality.
A&P mechanic
Thank you Stuart and I appreciate the reply. I will look into the New Age cabinets as well as Gladiator. Even though the Husky cabinets are welded, I am going to not get the Husky cabinets because it is Home Depot’s house brand. The New Age Pro cabinets appear to be the highest quality in their line up. I will keep an eye out for both brands potentially having upcoming black Friday sales, thank you again.
Clay
Went by today to grab some of the $5 Kobalt tool bags and they had none.
Looked online and no store in the area does.
Bummer. No free shipping option either.
Mike
Does the power detect option look viable as a good deal. Iam not sure how to judge the 8.0ah battery. Talking about the 279$ tool and battery and then get a free tool option
