Over at Lowes, they have a Thanksgiving Day 2018 promo.
If you’re a MyLowes member (which is their free “membership” program), you get 15% back from your purchase, in the form of a Lowes gift card rebate. Maximum gift card size is $500 per household.

If your order potentially qualifies for the rebate, you’ll be notified by the email associated with your MyLowe’s account within seven days of purchase.
There are some exclusions:
Offer not valid on: previous sales; in-store purchases, LowesForPros.com; purchase of services, installation or extended protection plans; gift cards; Weber products, ICON, Fisher & Paykel, Monogram, SMEG, NXR, AGA; Marvel, Heartland, Bosch Benchmark or Liebherr brand appliances (some brands not available in all markets/stores).
15% back in the form of a Lowes gift card? That seems like a compelling reason to look at Lowes for some of the non-exclusive Black Friday 2018 deals. Or, stock up on some home supplies!
If you were planning on getting any new Craftsman tools, this rebate offer should apply. A lot of Lowes’ Black Friday deals should already be in effect, and so it seems that this offer should stack on top of that!

This promo is only valid today, 11/22/2018.
Also, FREE parcel shipping, no minimum!

Not as good as a 15% off discount (the maximum value of a 15% rebate card is 13.044%) – but if you were planning on buying something at Lowes anyway – then its OK. Gift card rebate deals are good sales promoters because they get you to come back and shop at a later date – probably spending more than the gift card amount.
Here’s an calculation of what you save:
Say you spend $100 and get a $15 gift card which you use later to buy a $15 item. Then you save $15/($100+15) = 13.035%. But if you return and use your $15 gift card to buy another $100 of goods then your savings = $15/($100+$100) = 7.5%
That’s why marketers like to give discounts in the form of gift cards – because it encourages future purchases.
Stuart
Yes, but if one was planning on buying say air filters, money back is better than no discount.
Or, if another dealer has the same tool on sale for $100, Lowes’ $100 + 15% gift card rebate is essentially giving you $15 for free.
I foolishly ordered some stuff on the 20th, on work gloves that aren’t and wouldn’t be on sale. They were delayed and won’t ship until tomorrow (grr). But if I were to order them today, that would be 15% to spend on something else later.
And since all the Black Friday deals kicked off today anyway, it’s an incentive to shop now rather than later.
A great strategy on their part. It’s good for the customer, because it’s extra future buying power that they otherwise wouldn’t have received, and it’s good for Lowes because it will bring customers back to the store or website. Win-win.
fred
The first % off should have been 13.0435% – need to clean my keyboard.

I’m on the fence about buying Bosch GAS18V-3N 18V 2.6 gallon Vacuum for $99 plus my 10% millitary discount which pretty much covers tax and a few dollars. The gift card might make me make this purchase. This is sells for around $119 everywhere else. Amazon has it for $99 right now as well. Decisions….decisions.

I hadn’t seen this one before, it looks pretty nice. Anyone have a comparison to the Milwaukee?
I don’t have Bosch batteries, any good deals on batteries that would make this worth getting?
Avi
Does free “parcel shipping” include ladders, (say the Werner mt-22) or is that called freight?
Stuart
Depends on the product.
The ladder says “delivery available” which means it won’t ship via regular methods. Some small items are also delivery-only. Delivery-only looks to mean that freight or store delivery fees apply.
For free parcel shipping, it has to say “free shipping” (online-only products) or “shipping & delivery available.”

Any idea on if I’ll still get the 15% rebate if I pay using a gift card?
Stuart
I don’t know? There could be a risk, but if you ask my non-guaranteed opinion, I’d say that, unless the fine-print mentions otherwise (I don’t see anything), the payment method probably doesn’t matter.
Nick O
Thanks Stuart!
Adam
I have never had issues with Lowes rebates, and often pay with discounted gift cards, as well as use cash back sites. Befrugal is up to 7% back today, http://befrugal.com/rs/GNIVHOB/
if you can find a 10% off coupon, plus the 15% rebate & 7% cashback, that is close to 30% off
The only retailer, and I use that term loosely, that has issues with gift cards & promotions is FleaBay. Many times you can not use gift cards with any of the promotions going on, yet the gift card says to treat it like cash. eBay is way to afraid of double dipping on savings. Only place like this, smh

The whole “if your order qualifies” has me concerned. I’m reading that as your order could possibly be considered not eligible for unspecified reasons and you wouldn’t know for up to a week. Thoughts?
Stuart
There are exclusions, mentioned above, that would disqualify an order, such as the purchase of Weber products or gift cards.
Wayne R.
After too many rebate debacles, I’ve come to reject the whole concept. There’s always some reason for submissions to be rejected and almost no recourse.
Mike
I have been shopping for a table saw for couple months and settled on the DeWALT 745. Lowe’s has the 745S saw plus stand on sale for $299. Good price, but decided to wait. This morning, my wife said if I found any tools I wanted, that would be my Christmas present. Right after that, the 15% rebate popped up – done deal.
Unfortunately, the saw does not qualify for the free parcel shipping and they will not ship to my local Lowe’s. But, they will ship to the store 25 miles away for free and that is better than paying about $70 for home delivery.
Bill
Not sure if it was mentioned. Prices in their sales adds are stated as being effective 11/22. Lowes is not open today. If you have the item ordered for pickup, that order has to be processed by a human. Tomorrow is Black Friday. They will be super busy handling that stuff and may or may not get to your order to put it aside. Happened to me last year. Ended up that they didn’t have enough inventory to give it to me by the time they got to it. And because it was listed as part of their Black Friday promotion, too bad so sad on a raincheck.
Stuart
Thanks, I didn’t even consider that.
I suppose that’s why Home Depot disabled in-store pickup for many of their special buys today, making them online-only.
Frank D
Speaking of HD.
I was driving for two days, tried to order some things tg day ( ridgid toolbox stack aot ) from HD for shipped delivery back home or pickup in store later and could not. Had to pick a local store up north or down south … and either the site was borked and said the item was simply not available or it said call store (yeah they’re closed), limited stock.
What is the point of “ order online thanksgiving day “ if this is how they are going to run their online shopping ??
Not everybody has a store nearby.
Not everybody has the day off.
So you are out of luck?
Now, I totally get it, that they don’t want all sale items to have to be set aside by staff for people showing up in the next two three days and there not to be any for walk-in customers on BF at 6 am.
But, come’on … people don’t spend enough at HD annually for the online shopping to be functional?
And for there to be a walk-in inventory and an online inventory?
How about making more customers happy and getting more sales???
Last time I dealt with HD Online about something or another, they were saying they’re a separate division with separate inventory etc … is that gone? Local store only and if something is on some kind of special ymmv that you will not get it, if you are not in the parking lot at 5am?
Other stores have had specials in store and online, and I bought >1k on my phone click click click with free shipping delivered to the house up north, it will be there some day when I get back.
Just like the nationwide in store door buster deal, but without having to drive to the nearest store and waiting in line.
Easy. Happy customer. Happy seller.
Stuart
In the past, I noticed some inventory was split up. Online would say a store had 10 items for pick-up, but visiting the store I’d see 20.
Bill mentioned that Lowes sold out their in-store inventory on certain items in the past, but in-store shoppers bought items before they could be retrieved and held by fulfillment staff.
I noticed that a lot of deals were online-only and shipping-only yesterday. I suppose that’s to ensure that more people don’t opt for in-store pickup than can be fulfilled by stores, especially when customers are physically picking up items that were technically already sold but not retrieved yet.
It doesn’t look like there’s a perfect way to do things without someone being disappointed.
Frank D
Yep.
I sure had thought anno 2018 one could order BF stuff online the way it said and get some stuff delivered in a week or two from HD. But … no.
It is almost like they’re only wanting to sell a certain small amount of each item per store, to physical through the door customers, because if they sold any more it would cost them too much … as if the discount came out of their own pocket and caused them to lose money.

Can you use rebate/gift card to pay on your account if you buy today?
Stuart
I don’t know; can you usually pay your account with a Lowes gift card?
Tim
Anyone have experience with similar rebates from Lowes?
I ordered a miter saw earlier today with my mylowes account, but during checkout it didn’t say anything about a rebate.
Is this something that shows up later?
Mike
According to the rebate details,
“If your order potentially qualifies for the rebate, you will be notified by email associated with your MyLowe’s account within 7 days of purchase. “

I ordered a refrigerator yesterday (Samsung brand) with the hopes of being able to get the 15% back gift card. I was a little confused by the way it was worded but who knows… Maybe it will, maybe it won’t.
I am a myLowes member and also get a 10% discount on my purchases (Veteran discount). Plus I used Ebates and was able to get 4% cash back there. So my 1012 purchase got me 44.76 back. Assuming I get the 15% gift card back that will be $151. The refrigerator I purchased was originally $2299. The sale price was already 53% off making it $1099. with my 10% off it was $989.10 with all my cash back options, Ill have gotten at $2299 fridge for 793.34.
Which essentially means I just got a major appliance for 65% off. Keep your fingers crossed for me because this will be a good deal if it all works out!
Keith
Has anyone received the said email you would receive? I have not and am starting to get a little worried.
Thanks.
Mike
I purchased a DeWALT table saw during the Thanksgiving sale and picked it up Friday.
Received the rebate email from Lowes on Saturday.
“It’s time to submit your Lowes.com Thanksgiving Day Rebate”
Aaron
So Lowe’s messed this up badly for me. I was logged into MyLowe’s and made a large purchase online. Submitted the rebate within a few days. Today they denied it saying I was not logged into MyLowe’s. I have proof that I was (and have submitted it). But the fact that Lowe’s can’t get their online act together is starting to get real annoying. Their website was down for a while on Thanksgiving so I wouldn’t be surprised if their systems are not accurate. Regardless, now I have to waste my time getting them to correct their incompetence. Joy. Anyone else have this problem?
Mike
Different issue, but solution may work. Last year, had issue with windows I purchased from Lowes. Calls to Lowes customer service were not helpful.
Went online and found CEO name and address of Lowes HQ. Wrote a letter to him factually stating problem – not emotional. Contacted by support person attached to CEO office and they resolved the issue. Might be worth a try.
As to the Thanksgiving rebate, have not had your problem. December 19 received following email: Thank you for participating in the MyLowe’s Thanksgiving Day Rebate!
Your submission is currently being processed.
We will notify you when processing is complete and your request has been shipped. Please allow 2 – 3 weeks.
