Knipex Pliers Wrench Set

Chris emailed in (thank you!), telling us that this Knipex 3-piece Pliers Wrench set dropped to the lowest price he’s seen. While I don’t look at the set prices often, I am very certain that he’s right.

I’ve written about the Knipex Pliers Wrench before. I’ve owned 2 sizes for many years now, and they’ve been very helpful, even indispensable. I will sometimes use them in place of an adjustable wrench, in place of pliers, or in place of a clamping tool.

The jaw opening width is quickly adjustable, and a 10-to-1 mechanical advantage allows for high gripping pressure with low effort.

With this set, you get 7″, 10″, and 12″ sizes.

Price: $116.57 (as of the time of this posting)

Online price trackers and competing retailers show that the regular retail price is ~$140 and up.

If you don’t need the 12″ size, you can save a little money by buying just 7″ and 10″ sizes.

In case Amazon runs out, these are $119.99 at Zoro with one of their frequent 20% coupons. A lot of the Knipex and Wiha stuff they carry wind up being cheaper, sometimes significantly, than Amazon, once a coupon is factored in. KCTool sale items coupled with a coupon can beat Zoro, but that only comes once a year. Sometimes Zoro is even cheaper than ordering from Amazon.de for the European stuff.

I just ordered a bunch of things for a new tool set I’m putting together, and zoro with the cyber Monday 25% coupon wound up being cheaper than amazon.de for about 90% of the stuff they carried, and the rest was mostly within a few dollars. I think I wound up getting most of the Knipex and Gedore items from Zoro, Wiha split between Zoro and KCTool (I tried to cherry pick sale items to fill what I wanted), and NWS and Wera split between KCTool and Amazon.de.

Moral of the story: shop around, even from unexpected sources. I didn’t even realize Zoro carried Knipex to the extent they do until I happened to be googling a part number instead of searching straight on my usual sources.

Zoro had a 25% off promo code (one use only) today on orders over $400.
It’s worth signing up for Zoro emails.
We used to have a running list of “replacement – extra stock” items from folks like Starrett, William and Proto that we’d wait on a coupon from Zoro . They used to have a 30% off deal too – that seems to have been discontinued. I think we bought a Miller engine-driven welder that came to a very low price using 30% off code. But alas they now seem to have many more exclusions and set a maximum on $ off – so a $40,000 welder for $28,000 is no longer possible.

Excellent tools at a great price.
We first tried these out 18 years ago in our plumbing business – and the guys liked them so much that we phased them in – replacing adjustable wrenches and Channellock pliers in so many applications.

Knipex is one of my favourite brands in hand tools, Most of their tools are amazing, just with locking pliers and adjustable pliers they are kind of average quality.

The pliers-wrench is my all-time favorite tool. I use the 10″ all the time, but I also just purchased the tiny 125mm version. It’s surprisingly capable for the size.

I had this set that I think I ordered from KCtools. I kept them with me on road trip. It has saved my bacon a few time.

I see on camelcamelcamel.com that it’s dropped in price each day for the last several days. This is the lowest it’s been. I just bought the set, so it will probably drop again.

I had the same set that I ordered from ChadToolBox a long time ago. It was 118.94 including shipping.

Chads now lists it at $134.05, Walmart at $120,42 and Zoro at $149.99 (would be $112.49 if it could be bundled into a 25% off deal)

Very well could be to get rid of “old” stock, as they announced new updated versions of the the plier wrench.

Too bad they’re all the same style That middle size is pretty much redundant. If the middle one had serrated jaws, this deal would be a must buy, but as it is. those two larger sizes are too darn similar. Gotta keep the kit spare when it comes to $50 pliers…

There are times when you use them (or wrenches) in pairs – one to hold and the other to turn – so redundancy is not necessarily a bad thing.

Then it is no longer a pliers ‘wrench,’ and fo a different application. These are intended for flat sided nuts. You want to look at Cobra pliers. Those are serated jaws.
I do get what you mean not having a variety pack of styles, rather than 3 pliers sizes that overlap in what 2 of them could handle

Price is currently down to $112.84. I wonder if it will drop more? I’d buy this set if I didn’t already have the 7″ and 10″ ones.

I just now clicked the Knipex three tool link on Amazon and it’s at $109.23. So I ordered them.
Hope they’re not already somewhere I’ve forgotten about.

I think I paid around $150 through snap on a few years back and I’ve used and abused these endlessly. If the set walked away, I’d repurchase them in a heartbeat, truly one of those near perfect tools that you know will always exceed your need.
