Lyon Multi-Function Industrial Chair

Lyon Multi-Function Chair

I’ve been looking for a good workbench/lab chair or stool and got my hopes up when I came across the Lyon 2026N multi-function chair. Drafting chairs have been falling short in terms of height and comfort, and the Lyon looked to be everything I needed.

Waterfall seat front? Check.
Flat foot rests? Check.
Tilt and shift adjustability? Check.
Optional adjustable arm rests and casters? Check.
32-33″ height? Check.

The price is a little steep for personal use – $470 on Amazon plus $120 for arm rests and $35 for casters. But, given what I know about Lyon and from the product description, the chair might potentially last a very long time.

Where is the chair made? China.

$625 for a lab chair is double the maximum amount I was really willing to spend. I also checked with MSC, one of my favorite industrial suppliers. Even with a 25% discount, the chair is over $500 by itself.

The chair’s greatest selling point is its height adjustment range. You can lift or lower the column, AND you get 8″ of pneumatic height adjustment. Since I’m one person I don’t really need such range, but it might be convenient to have.

I’m still hunting for the ultimate work station and lab chair or stool, and have a couple of brands and models in mind. One brand and a few models do stand out way ahead of the rest, but I’m open to suggestions.

Yup. I wouldn’t have thought that, but double-checked with Lyon via customer service chat.

I certainly don’t know the industrial chair market, but that seems quite excessive to me. $625 goes a long way on many things.

For that much money and the fact it’s made in PRC, I sure wouldn’t buy it. Seems a bit of a rip off if you ask me.

$625 really isn’t a lot for industrial seating. You should see how much specialty ESD, cleanroom, and hospital seating costs.
