Mac Tools has announced a new cordless rechargeable LED worklight, model TL98268, designed for heavy-duty use and shop abuse. It has a polycarbonate casing with a textured TPE (rubbery) finish.
The new worklight features 3x 1-watt LEDs that output a wide floodlight of 200 lumens on the high brightness setting, and 100 lumens on low. At the tip of the flashlight is a single 1-watt LED that outputs 65 lumens. Two separate switches control the flood-beam worklight and single-LED flashlight. Runtime is 3.5 hours on high, 2 hours on low, and 7 hours for the single beam.

Included with the kit are 2 rechargeable 3.6V lithium-ion battery packs, an AC wall charger, and a 12V auto outlet charger.
The worklight has a strong magnetic base for hands-free use and is also sealed to IP54 specs (IP what?) to protect it from water, dirt, dust, and other non-electronics-friendly shop conditions.
MSRP is $130.

The new Mac worklight looks kind of like a heavy-duty MagnaLite. As previously discussed, we often prefer headlamps to cordless worklights, but the new Mac is undeniably appealing. If we can get our hands on one for review, we’ll put it through hell and back.

they’ve had these on the MAC truck for while now. i’ve owned it since they were new. definitely lives up to being able to take a beating (or at least quite a few drops).
only major complaint is charging takes forever…~6-7hrs.

I just ordered this work light from Mac, i couldn’t find too many reviews on it but it did just too new right now. I am hoping for the best. The price is a little steep but you get what you pay for.

The light is great. Nice and bright. But the batteries are junk! The connection between the battery and the wall charger is faulty. Three different batteries had the same problem. Unless you’re willing to take the battery apart and re-solder a crappy connection, I’d recommended something else.

Like Brad says, very durable (dropped a few times also, at a decent height!) Charging does take quite awhile but the batteries seem to last a good while. I’d like to see a stronger magnet also.
