(Expired) Makita $25 off $100+ Tools Promo is Giving Double, Triple, Quadruple Discounts

Makita Mac2400 Air Compressor

Over at Amazon, their Makita $25 off $100+ promo is now live, valid thru the end of the year (11:59pm PT 12/31/2018). It’s usually a good deal that a lot of pros and DIYers look forward to every year.

But, this year it’s a little different. Maybe it’s a programming error, or maybe it’s a way to drum up attention and word-of-mouth hype, but the discount is currently applying in multiples, giving an extra $25 discount for every hundred dollars of a tool’s price.

Makita Holiday 2018 Double Discount Example

The Mac700 air compressor, priced over $200, is currently seeing a $50-off discount.

Makita Holiday 2018 Triple Discount Example

The Mac2400 air compressor, priced a penny away from $300, is currently seeing a $75-off discount.

Makita Holiday 2018 Quadruple Discount Example

I tried one more of the eligible $25 off $100 tools. This one, a Makita 18V X2 chainsaw kit, regularly priced over $400, is currently seeing a $100 discount.

I’m inclined to believe that this is a legitimate deal. But, as with the Bosch deal last week, it probably won’t last long. So, hurry up and get some shopping done.

Eligible Tools($25 off $100+ promo via Amazon)

Eligible items must be sold and shipped by Amazon. The discount doesn’t appear in your cart, it only shows up at the final “review your order” checkout step.

Makita Holiday 2018 Deal on Powered Wheelbarrow

At the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any limit to the discount multiplier. Here, the $1000+ Makita power-assisted wheelbarrow kit is discounted by $250.

Great deal – the Rebar/Threaded Rod cutter kit (XCS02T1) as an example gets a $250 discount!

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073SMDN7N/

but Amazon has different Makita items where the discount does not apply – and for some of those items – you can get the $25 off at other sites like Acme

Just purchased a Makita XCV05ZX the price took $75.00 off, never seen this good of a deal on a niche item. The reviews are hilarious especially when most buyers are thinking this is a home vacuum? Hepa is needed on jobsites and personally for my own health when cutting through plaster or concrete. Great deal for me, I have a lot of 18v 5.0 Batteries.

For those trying this at home: the discount doesn’t show in your cart, only when you go to checkout

    1. The stacking seems to have gone away.
    2. A very strange promotion – the first time I added couple shaft pole pruner the $25 discount shows up.
Delete it, add it again from the promotions page, even the single discount doesn’t show up.

Discount DOES still work (I just checked).

Items must be sold and shipped by Amazon to qualify. Try this one:

      Pole Pruner

When a 3rd party seller offers a better price, or has more immediate availability, the Amazon direct listing is pushed to the sidebar as an “other seller.” With the link here, I’m forcing the Amazon listing to be front and center.

The algorithm takes into account the before-discount price.

At 9:36am ET, I am seeing a $50 at-checkout discount on the pole pruner attachment.

      Actually Aron is correct.
You have to wait until the “Place your order” page – then look carefully on the right. At this point you can click on the Change button to delete items that don’t discount. Example: couple shaft pole saw and extension get the discount, the 4 cycle power head does not.
The stacking is also a good reason to get just over the next $100 level – add a couple of inexpensive items. I added the router base to get over $300 so 3 x $25.
Below “Place your order” button is:
      Order Summary
      Items (2): $285.99
      Shipping & handling: $0.00
      Save on Makita: -$50.00

I’m sorry I forgot to mention that. But yes, the discount appears at checkout.

I’m not getting any discount when I try. Just clicked the compressor and still charging me $299 at checkout. Not even the $25 off that’s supposed to happen

The promotion does not work on the cordless flood light, DML805, or the kit with the flood light and clamp. What a disappointment.

It looks like Amazon discovered their error and took down the entire $25 off $100 promo…

Or (maybe less likely) Makita USA discovered it and asked Amazon to take it down

Along those lines, it’s also possible a competing distributor objected.

Just saw an 11% off Milwaukee orders over $100 at CPO. It also says, “Valid on select items” & “Offer valid until 11:59pm ET on November 12, 2018”

I was able to save $100 on their track saw a few days ago, so the stacking discounts have been available for a while. I’m wondering if it was a technical glitch, given that the discount ended hours after ToolGuyd wrote about it…

Now it won’t work for me, the promotion page even says this promotion has ended. Really wanted that compressor at the discount.

I believe it’s 25.00 off 100.00 or more not 25.00 for every 100.00. I put a air compressor in my cart at Acme and it’s showing 25.00 off. Still seems like a good deal.

      That’s how it usually is.

But look at the screenshots. For whatever reason, this promo was programmed differently.

I believe Raymond is right. I’m guessing someone at Amazon goofed.

I didn’t see this on any public deals sites, and just happened to be purchasing a track saw. Acme and ToolNut were both $25 off, but couldn’t get it here in my timeframe. I checked Amazon, and it was $100 off.

When someone spills the beans in a public forum, the fun for everyone is gone.

I’ve seen amazing deals (or errors) in the past and just enjoy them and move on. No need to tell the world.

I saw a post about this on a very popular deals site.

Assuming it was valid, it seemed like a great deal to get in on. I wanted to make sure that readers here had a chance at the savings, before resellers bought up everything, the better deals went out of stock, or the offer was reprogrammed.
