As much as I want to buy Makita they seem to bundle some real crap together in these combo packages.
All these deals include a single speed impact driver (useless) and some drill with a plastic chuck. If they included a premium tool in the package I’d consider it.
Why not a combo with the xfd07 or the xdt12 or xdt14? Quality tools that people would actually want?
jstyer
Completely agree with this. I have no idea why they don’t bundle their prosumer tools…
JamesR
Stuart,
Seen any deals on their track saw? Cordless or corded?
Thanks.
Stuart
I’m sorry, but not that I’ve seen yet.
Mike S
The same deal as last year – XPS01PTJ can be had with the 2 extra batteries.
Available at Rockler, ToolNut, AcmeTools, etc.
https://www.rockler.com/makita-18v-x2-brushless-cordless-6-1-2-plunge-cut-circular-saw-kit-with-additional-2-pack-of-5-0ah-batteries-4-total
I’m hoping they thrown in the track at some point – or that HD gets the deal as well.
Stuart
Thanks! How’d I miss that? Adding it in now. It looks like only some dealers are offering the deal at the moment. Maybe others will also offer it later?
Gordon
A lot of their 36v tools can be found with a battery bonus right now.
Lance
Here’s a whole list of 18V X2 tools with the free battery promotion:

If you’re not set on a particular color CPO has the dws520sk (corded kit with 59″ track) that comes with a second 59″ track for free and $25 off. Total is $445 before tax for the saw, blade, storage box and 2 – 59″ tracks.
JamesR
Thanks Jstreet. Not particular to the Makita, just the one that jumps to mind when I think of track saws (other than Festool of course). The CPO Dewalt seems like a good deal. I just got to decide if having a cordless solution is worth the cost. I have visions of me going to HD or Lowes and breaking down plywood in their parking lot, but that probably is just a pipe dream.
Logan
You keep mentioning that the flashlights aren’t brushless!!!! They are totally brushless!!
Why??? I’ve yet to see a light with carbon brushes!!!!!
Stuart
So is a garden hose!
Logan
Chanclas (sandals) too, I believe

I was really hoping for some 12v makita deals this year, but I haven’t seen any yet. I have the lxt platform, but could use a lighter duty set for smaller jobs that i can pack up into a single bag . Milwaukee has had a few deals and the widest array, but I dislike their thicker grip caused by the stick-style battery inside the handle.
Stuart
There is one, but not good one – the drill and impact kit for $119. $99 is a good deal, $119 is not.
MacLean
More interested in deals on bare tools.
TERRY
Many bare 12v Makita tools are just over $100. Getting $25 off is good enough for me.
J weaver
Yeah I bought one of these cordless Makita kits with the impact and hammer drill the circular saw the reciprocating saw and a flashlight and the two batteries and two months later the hammer drill took a shit. great job Makita thanks for the piece of shit tools
mla
Chainsaw?
Tucker
Wish the xt275 kit came with 2 free batteries soon. Got a kit at hd on sale and hoping Makita will promote it before my guarantee price runs iut

Are these deals some of the best options for someone buying into a new system? I am that someone, and I’m having a hard time finding a better combo than the XT333X1 set, with 2 bonus tools for $400.
I think the only other set that seems compelling is the Rigid $350 deal, but some of those tools seem to be of much lower quality. I just don’t see a similar value in offerings from Milwaukee or Dewalt.
I’m a heavy DIYer with rental property who finally had my secondhand Dewalt 18v batteries die. I’m looking to buy into a system long term. Am I overlooking something?
Stuart
These are all really good deals.
I wrote about the XT333X1 deal here: https://toolguyd.com/makita-newest-promo-brushless-cordless-power-tool-combo-kit-xt333x1-h2018/
For buying into a system, this particular kit is a good value, as it gives you 3 core tools, 2 battery sizes, and then you pick 2 bonus choices that you need or want most. That means more tools (or batteries) you could use, and less that you might not have any immediate purpose for, which is sometimes the case for higher tool-count combo kits.
Oflannabhra
How do the 3 core tools in the XT333X1 set compare to other major brands offerings? I know they are brushless, and seem to be on the upper end of Makita’s offerings, is that impression correct?
I couldn’t really find reviews of the individual tools.
Stuart
With respect to features and specs, they’re all mid-range offerings. Not the most featured or powerful, but not light duty either.
Higher-tier drills are more powerful, and higher-tier impact drivers have 3 or more speed/torque modes.
MT_Noob
Are the two bonus tools also brushless? I can’t quite sort it out looking at the home depot black friday ad…
Buy this XT333X1 3pc brushless tool set, get 2 BONUS TOOLS.
MT_Noob
Specifically I am wondering if the bonus compact router and grinder are brushless.
Stuart
In the Home Depot promo, the compact router and grinder bonus bare tools DO look to be the brushless models, and the model numbers confirm it (XTR01Z, XAG04Z).
MT_Noob
Thanks, now that is even more tempting for me… I think I’ll have to jump in and get one.
