Deal of the Day: Makita Drill and Impact Driver Combo, Plus Bit Set (12/17/15)

Makita Hammer Drill Impact Driver and Bit Set Bundle

Over at Home Depot, today’s deal of the day is this Makita XT211 18V drill and impact driver combo kit, plus a 21-piece bit set that retails for ~$13 -17. The bit set is less at Home Depot ($13), but only available in stores.

(This deal first appeared on 12/4/2015, and made a reappearance on 12/17/2015 with 2 other deals, seemingly as a last-chance deal of the day offering. The second time around, the deal price was $10 higher.)

If you ask me, Amazon’s XT324 combo is still a better deal – it gives you the same drill and impact driver kit, plus an angle grinder for $249. But that’s if you need or want the brushless grinder, which retails for $113-$129 as a bare tool.

The bundle price for this Home Depot deal of the day is $199. Earlier in the holiday season, Amazon had a similar combo kit, but with higher capacity battery packs, also for $199, and when this Deal of the Day first appeared on Home Depot, the deal price was $189.

$189 seemed like a great price for this bundle, $199 is still a good deal price.

Right now, the XT211 kit is $279 via Amazon, and the XT211M kit with higher capacity batteries is $269.

If you don’t care about the bit set, and only want either the drill or impact driver, their standalone kits are on sale for $99 right now on Amazon:

I also think that the Amazon deal is better – and it is $40 less than the “sale” price at Toolup:

I have that Makita bit and driver set and it’s ‘ok’ only. My Wera Rapidapter is infinitely better as well as a Dewalt that someone here pointed me to.

The way that set closes is a bit clutsy to say the least and I’m not swayed by the fancy Gold colour either.

Wera Impaktor bits are also the class act.

but this Dewalt bit holder is also nice IMO:

Yeah that’s the Dewalt that I bought. Maybe it was you that posted the link a few months ago?

I can’t take credit – but both ToolGuyd and the discussions/comments/posts that it spawns are great.

If you buy the XT324 and another qualifying Makita tool it qualifies for $100 off. For example, put the XT324 and a reciprocating saw (XRJ03Z) in your cart and you’ll end up paying $260 for all of it.
