What can you win?

(1) Makita Impact Gold 21-piece Ultra Magnetic Insert Bit Set x (2) winners
The set comes with an ultra magnetic bit holder, (20) Impact Gold screwdriver bits, and a handy carrying and storage case.
For maximum fastener holding power, the new ultra magnetic insert bit holder features a rare earth neodymium magnet that is 2x stronger than the magnets found in standard bit holders. It is designed to be paired with the new Impact Gold screwdriver bits, but can be used with other brands’ impact and non-impact bits as well.
The Impact Gold bits are manufactured with high precision tips for improved fastener fitment and reduced cam-out, Xtreme Torsion Technology torsion zones that flex under load to reduce tip breakage, and high quality steel contributes to greater durability and longer life.
(Although designed to be used with high torque impact drivers, you can also use the bit holder and bits with any drill, cordless screwdriver, or hand driving tool.)

What’s so good about these bits?
We previewed this set a few months ago, and are currently working on a review. Thus far, we’re liking them a lot, as they certainly seem to perform a step above conventional impact bits. The Impact Gold bits do seem to last longer than standard bits, and fastener fitment is exceptional as well. (Full review coming soon.)
I purchased the new socket set at my local Home Depot about a month or two back, and although I haven’t used them very much yet, I am impressed with their design and performance.
Where to buy?
Can’t wait to see if you’ve won? Makita Impact Gold bits and accessories are available at Home Depot.

The new expanded selection includes insert bits, bit holders, nutsetters, socket adapters, and several set combinations.

I would use these bits on a basement renovation I’m working on, so there is all sorts of impact fastening going on.
Richard
Well, besides the fact that they include square/Robertson bits (nice addition!), I’d use these with my handheld impact driver to remove all the bits that have a Phillips or Torx bit on my project car… many of them could use a little extra ‘oomph’ that an impact driver and decent bits would provide!
Andrew
I would use these bits on my job sites.
Louie
I just purchased an impact driver/hammerdrill combo for my new house, which is a bit of a fixer upper. I am doing tons of work from installing some new subfloor to remodeling the kitchens and bathrooms to putting new railing on the deck. I haven’t purchased an impact bit set yet and this looks like a great set to have for those projects!
David Martinez
I would use these bits around the house and at my weekend job installing HVAC in new construction.
Bill K
Looks like a great little set to add to my electrical tool kit of tools! I’m assuming (and hope) the gold is titanium nitride hard coating which will help extending life. Thanks ToolGuyd!
Bill K
Just read the product description again and would like to comment and poise a question.
Lots of comments on these “IMPACT” bits. Impact tools are often black oxide but these are gold. Is this “gold” a titanium nitride hard coating to increase wear, or just a cosmetic coating of some type?
I’m no tool expert but does anyone besides me think its odd to have impact rated Philips bits? Philips bits are designed to torque out of the screw when over tightened. (However, having hardened impact bits would be logical for JIS Philips bits and screws as they are not designed to torque out. But these are not JIS bits.)
ToolGuyd Answer: That’s a good question. Makita has said that the coating is a “proprietary finish,” but it could be TiN or a similar hard-wearing coating. Most bits are uncoated because 1) bits are wearable and consumable and plating adds to the cost, 2) plating can lead to imprecise fitment, and 3) plated bits can chip easily at times. I’m not sure how Makita coated these bits, but they did it in a way that gets around these issues. (The answer is embedded to avoid confusing the giveaway entry count.
Marco
Been wondering how these compare to the black impact sets others make? Not sure which to get.
Dazrin
We need to replace out deck in the next year (probably next spring) and these would certainly be used with an impact driver for that project.
chris
I’ve been eyeing these at home depot every time I go by the tools section. I really need a set thats easy to find (the gold) and that will stay in the bit holder when I pull it from a screw, currently thats my biggest gripe with my current bits. I end up moving to the next screw only to find the bit stayed with the last screw. I wasn’t aware of the magnets in the makita set that were twice as strong. This might work for me.
Troy
I have been quickly acquiring Makita tools as I work on finishing my basement myself. These bits would pair up perfectly with my LXT Impact driver and really help get the project done!
RobH
I would put them to the test along side of the Bosch impact bits and see which one out performs the other.
Dan Gronert
Well I’m finally glad they made something gold. I value my Makita drill as much as I value gold!
Javier
Great giveaway. Im always up to something with my impact driver and my upcoming project I would use these on is a storage shed project.
Corey Griffiths
Use them around the house on various projects
Peter
To drive in those pesky long screws.
Bob
I am in the process of redoing my basement and these would come in handy.
John S
I would love to put these bits to work on building a new workbench… Just got a butcher block top for it and would love to put these bits to use!
Brian
I would use these while working on two decks at our house. One deck is getting all of the decking boards replaced and the other deck is getting built from the ground up.
Jerry
I don’t know what could be neata
Than to win the free bits from Makita
Should I hack into TooGuyd
And the other posts hide?
No, cause that then would make me a cheeta.
Seriously, though, my past experience with Makita bits is that they are very precisely made. Being longer lasting, would just be a bonus, as would bits that stay in the holder. I’ve lost a few doing outdoor projects when they stuck in the screw.
Anthony
I’d love to get a chance to try these. I do a lot of HVAC and metal framing as I work in new construction. I’ve had great experience with my Makita tools which I primarily use, but never really worked with their accessories. This would be a really good test drive on these new Impact Golds.
Hang Fire
I’d use them to build a shed project I have coming up.
Javier
I bet your always up to something with your impact driver too
Jason Offret
As a commercial electrician I use my dewalt 20v impact every day all day for various applications
NCD
Thanks for the chance to participate in this give-away. These bits would be handy in my current renovation.
Dave
I would love to win this set, I own a Makita drill and these would perfectly work with it. I would use it for projects around the house. I think that Makita has great quality and make great products.
Travis
I would use them on the garage I’m building.
tcmault
I would use this the drive screws while building a French Cleat wall in my garage.
MLG
Will use them around the house for different projects
Mack frost
never won anything in my life. would use these in my new wood shop
mike foley
I would like one of my fellow readers to win, so I officially bow out for consideration, but I still had to add my two cent! I just went through a very involved remodel, and I quickly found out the incredible importance of QUALITY for this little niche! If you’re not careful, you’ll quickly see that the hardness and durability in this space has gone BYE BYE. I hope these work great, and I will go and get some and report back. It’s a big pet peeve of mine that so many of these other models crack and break now first use.
Kimber Janney
These look like great bits and a good value.
Makita quality is very consistent, so I have faith these would hold up to rigorous use. I would pair them up with my Makita LXT Impact Driver, cheap bids do not hold up to the stress created by 18 volt impact drivers.
mustafa
i wish to win any thing
Russ C.
I have a lot of things around the house where I could use this set.
jeff
I would use the set for standard “updates” and repairs around my house.
Jim
I am an advanced DIYer. My focus includes mechanics work, woodworking and building construction. I currently have both 18V and 10.8V Makita Impact drivers. They are in continious use on most of my projects. Current projects in the pipeline include building three hardwood shelving units, and a deck renovation that includes a railing upgrade and resurfacing with composite lumber.
A short poem:
The key to really good driving,
Is having high quality bits.
I learned to trust Makita,
for a durable bit that fits!
jesse
Gift cards and product samples ARE compensation in my opinion unless you dispose of them.
douglas kwan
i use the torx bits as a mechanic
Michael Quinlan
I could definitely use these on current jobs.
crewchief888
i dont use many bits working on const eq, but i’m always using them around the house and garage
Mitch
These would be great for driving self-tapping metal screws
Rob
Thanks for the king offer, this set would come in handy on a deck project I am working on!!!
justin kleidosty
with being a journeyman carpenter i would put these bits through a daily beating, let it be hanging cabinets, hanging doors, building decks, siding, roofing, or just for the fun of partially disassembling coworkers saw horses sothe easily fall apart once lumber is applied 🙂
rshadd
They sure look like nice bits. I could use a quality set of bits to use around house.
firefly
I got an impact driver with not a lot of bit. I only have experience with the bit from Dewalt so far. I would love to get my hand on those to try out the Mikita bit. This is mainly just for home and recreational use.
Nathan
I could do with these bits as im a plumber and allways going through the drivers coz im allways using it
John Coulston
Would love these so much. Use milwaukee and dewalt bits but would love to check the e durability of the makita. Sorry for the extra e in here.this page isn’t letting delete words totally..
ronnie
i install kitchens for a big box store, and go thru bits and extensions, fairly quickly. i love my impact/drill set so much that i call it my other wife. i will be getting some of these as soon as they hit the floor, i agree with you that the bits have not kept up with the speed and torque of the the impacts. great to see more for my favorite company.
Bill Strobel
These look like an excellent set of bits. They would come in handy around the home or garage.
Ryan
I would use these everytime I wanted to put a screw thingy in or out of something.
joe
Nice. I hope they are up to the claims. I am not a fan of philips screws because they where made for slippage purposes and they do their job well. Fast forward to impacts with more torque more speed, and slipping and breaking tips gets annoying even dangerous. I was drilling in a 3 inch philips head screw on 3-rd speed with my impact, the bit slipped and landed on my thumb..nicked the bone and and went though my flesh…took 21/2 month to heal but I still went to work…it look like I was giving thumbs up all the time lol
Bob
Roses are red, Violets are blue,If I won these Makita gold bits,
I would rule !
Shannon
Makitas don’t default.
Like Ryobi and Dewalt.
Milwaukee and Bosch just can’t compare
to Makita’s strength and rugged flair.
chris
I will use these with my trusty 10.8V makita’s during my major garage remodel
David
This is an excellent set.
I use them all the time.
James
Doing major renovations on a 90 year old country house. these would be very helpful.
Nick Spittal
They’re gold, right? I will put them on display at the forefront of my workbench. Only to be used in the darkest hour.
stickshift from GJ
I’d use this for around-the-house repairs and DIY projects. Don’t have any impact bits yets, so this would save me from breaking lots of regular bits. 🙂
Mike White
My honeydo listed grows everyday and I’m always looking for new tools to help with the home/auto repairs.
Jake
Milwaukee is Red
Makita is Blue
Winning these bits would be awesome
and so would you
#Winning
Jeff
Remodeling the bathrooms and these bits would come in handy.
Will
Interesting… Someone is actually doing something with bits.
Doc
I went ahead and bought the Gold
Tried ’em out and now I’m Sold
So, if I win, I’ll have a big grin
Just like dearly departed, Fred Gwynne
Minh
These would be great to build a deck! The last time I built one w/ my dad we broke SOOOO many cheap chinese made bits that it was ridiculous! These would’ve been perfect!
Britt
I would use them to install kitchen cabinets.
John Sullivan
Because of their distinctive gold color, these would be used at work where they would stand out and it would be obvious if someone (I give workshop novices an introduction to shop techniques and safety as part of an engineering design course) is using a non-impact bit with an impact tool, and vise versa. They would be used for the driving & extracting tasks that impact bits are best for.
Jason M.
Building a new house so let’s just say there is no end to what these would be used for. Thanks Stuart for putting together another great giveaway.
Keith
Rebuilding all the toys my kids, and my wife’s students break and or destroy.
Chih-Wei Ho
I can use the kit to install some new cabinets for my kid.
Scott
Building a table and benches for my back patio.
Greg
I am a general contractor and use my Makita impact all day long! From building decks to installing cabinets, and doors. These drivers look great and I am looking forward to trying them out! Here is a little ditty about our favorite cordless company.
Oh Makita how are you?
With all your style and warm blue
We look longingly at your shinney new gold
In amazement and wonderment to behold.
All day we drive our fasteners and screws
with our beautifull white and blues
Never do you let us down
Keeping us on track without that clunking sound
Mahalo
Makita gold bits
make it a breeze to tighten
screws and fasteners
Ryan Lim
I like to do wood work especially using the impact driver. But none of bits lasts more than 100 pcs screw. I wish I could have the opportunity to try this product and I will review it with other bit
Jerrod
My Makita
Don’t you know you’ve come a long long way,
I been longing to see you, when you’re around I put my DeWalt away
My Makita-aaaa-aaaahhh
My Makita-aaaa-aaaahhh I love you.
Douglas
I would use these to drive the long exterior screws which sometimes chew up the cheap bits.
H C Winchell
We’ve been renovating an old homestead…just demolished 2 baths. Kitchen finally done. I still need to renovate garage & build a workshop in the barn. Need tools more & more. Mikita saw, hammer drill & impact driver used daily! I can always use more bits!!
Norm
Makita Bits of Gold,
Oh how you’ll replace the ones that are old.
You’ve got the force of impact,
Screw things down and keep them in tact.
What would I do if I won these bits,
Put them with the rest of my tool kits.
I do like it’s little case,
Because I am one to misplace.
And they are magnetic too,
No more dropping screws.
I hope I win one two sets,
Sure this poem is a little cheesy but I have no regrets.
Ben Head
I woulduse the bit on renovating my 1st house purchase and buliding the outside area for mine and my fiance’s outdoor wedding.
Nick
Awesome bits! Makita with another great innovation.
Kyle F.
Thanks for hosting the giveaway, Stuart. A backlog of DIY/homeowner projects, including repairs to a semi-finished basement and some garden/outdoor furniture construction, awaits less busy weekends, and these bits would certainly help me move through the list with fewer headaches!
Roger Carper
Your bits look real neat. Using them would be a treat.
Andy
Would love to use these while building my new deck.
Anthony Hagene
I’d use this religiously for electrician field
damir verona p.
I would gladly use them in my every day diverse design and fabrication/shop activities..also in teaching etc. etc.
