Maxpedition RollyPoly Dump Pocket

Maxpedition makes a ton of EDC bags, pouches, and accessories that are designed to simplify how you store, organize, and carry your gear. I bought a mini RollyPoly a few years ago, and it has proven to be a fantastic random cargo pouch.

The RollyPoly is a fold-out pouch that takes up little space on your belt until you need it. When you need it, the RollyPoly unfolds into a 4″ diameter x 8″ tall cavity with 100 cubic inch capacity.

It’s made from Teflon-protected 1000-Denier ballistic nylon fabric that is light in weight, water resistant, and abrasion resistant. The pouch measures about 3.5″ long x 2.25″ wide x 1.5″ thick when folded.

Sometimes I use the pouch to hold a water bottle and snacks when on-the-go, other times I use it to hold random tools and supplies. It has a drainage hole in the bottom, so it’s not a good idea to fill it with small parts or fasteners. There are no organizer pockets either. This is a bulk storage pocket.

No the RollyPoly isn’t a bag substitute. It’s also not a tool pouch. But it’s a nice backup stuff-holder that’s more comfortable to load up than cargo shorts or pants pockets. It’s inconspicuous when folded up, and less goofy-looking than a fanny pack when open and in use.

A drawstring and the hook-and-loop flap help to keep contents from falling out, but keep in mind that they aren’t as secure as a zipper or other full-closure device.

There are couple of carrying options, but I think the RollyPoly works best when threaded on a belt. Maxpedition offers these pouches in 5 color options: black, olive drab green, khaki, foliage green, and a foliage green and khaki combo.

I usually associate “Dump Pouch” with the meaning of a pouch designed for spent magazine placement. Eh, more uses can never hurt. Maxpedition gear is among some of the best made, I’ve got quite a few pieces of their gear for shooting and medical. Highly recommended.

I’ve had mine on order for two months. I actually wanted it for it’s intended purpose. Now I’m wondering if I’ll see if before the end of the shooting season.
