Of these deals, I think the M18 Rocket LED tripod light and flood light combo is definitely the most stand-out deal.

After that, the compact brushless drill and impact driver with Packout tool box kit bundle is a better buy than usual, beating out winter holiday pricing by $50. Usually, the drill kit is promo-priced at $99, the impact at $99, and you end up with both tools, 2 batteries, 2 chargers, and 2 carrying bags for $198. Here, you both tools, 2 batteries, a charger, and the Packout tool box, for $149.
The 6-tool kit is a good buy at $399, but we’ve seen it at that price before. The deal was a little sweeter at the end of the winter holiday season.
Flotsam
That M18 5 piece deal is real good if i were in the market for a cordless set. My only question is whether the drill, impact are the best tools (ie brushless) that Milwaukee makes?
Stephen
No these are not the latest and greatest. The hammer drill and impact driver have brushed motors and are at least 1 generation removed from the newest models.
The few times I’ve looked at the multi-tool kit deals (any brand), I’ve always found at least 2 or 3 of the tools are previous generation models. Not to say they aren’t great values, you just have to look carefully if you want something specific.

The m18 string trimmer was on sale in my town for $199 two weeks ago. Didn’t really need it but i did get the m18 hedge trimmer for $42

I want an M12 rocket light and hacksaw. Maybe for Father’s Day….

Gotta say the m12 rocket light is AWESOME………… I like it way better than the m18

Am I the only one that’s questioning the integrity of these so-called deals?
I remember just before Black Friday last year one of the reps from Milwaukee was at my local Home Depot in New Jersey. He said that all of their products prices had been raised only two weeks before Black Friday. The goal was to give the impression that you were saving more money on those products when the Black Friday sales came around. Unfortunately for me now with a healthy dose of skepticism, I look at some of these “retail prices” that they have listed and how much you’re supposedly saving and think to myself I have never seen any of these products listed for that price.

I’m going to focus on “special buys” with my answer.
Ahead of Black Friday, promotional kits will go out on display. Something like a Milwaukee compact brushless drill/driver will have a $129 price tag. Objectively, that’s not a bad price for what you get. Come Thanksgiving Day, and it’ll drop to its true seasonal promo price of $99.
A few years ago, my local Lowes had holiday stock in-store but not on display, and couldn’t/wouldn’t fulfill my online order. Then, they put the tools on the display, and when I first saw them, they already had “new low price” signage. They seem to have stopped doing this.
$129 on a kit that seasonally sells for $99 is artificial, at least if it’s something that’s not typically stocked at the off-season at that price.
With these promos, some of them are at typical promo pricing, others are lower, possibly because they’re still trying to clear them out – I don’t know.
Skepticism is always good. My approach at gauging unfamiliar deals is to see how much other retailers are selling them for. I also cross-reference the model numbers on ToolGuyd and in my records to see if they are holiday season “special buys.” I like to think I have gotten quite good at identifying special buys when they first appear in online catalogs around September and October. Others have special SKUs, such as 2892-22CTPO. Right now Home Depot has it for $319, which, if you’ll pardon my language, is complete BS. It’s a holiday season promo that typically retails for $199. Yesterday’s deal price of $149 was notably special. But $319? That could be a representation of the “value” of everything sold separately, but is not an accurate “regular price” for this particular SKU.

That rocket/rover light kit was already sold out online at just 1:00pm yesterday. What a farce!

I ended up getting two of the 3/8” M12 ratchet sets. Great deal
