Milwaukee Tool Deals of the Day 7-3-2019 Page 1

Home Depot has a bunch of Milwaukee cordless power tool and accessory deals, valid today only. Thank you Ktash for the heads-up!

These deals are worth a quick look, in my opinion, because many of them feature good pricing on tools that you don’t normally see discounted, such as on Milwaukee drain-cleaning equipment, PEX press tool kits, and a brushless circular saw kit.

FYI, most Milwaukee bit and drill sets are available at HomeDepot at prices better than can be found online

Not necessarily. Maybe leftover Father’s Day sets?

Today’s promo has a 20pc Shockwave set for $18. A 23pc set is also currently promo-priced at $20. Online there’s a 15pc set for $30, although I would swear I’ve seen it for $22 or $25 in the past – lower than $30, but still higher than promo pricing for the 23pc set. The 20pc set gives you 2 more small bit size duplicates than the 23pc set, but the 23pc set gives you a 1/4″ duplicate and added sizes including 1/2″. Compared to that 15pc set, either are better buys.

The Shockwave bit sets are harder to gauge. There’s a 50pc set for $20, but I’d describe it as another option, rather than a better buy or bargain, since its bit selection is very different.

Julian may have been referring just to the driver bit & drill bit sets, not the actual tools.
I think online is more competitive than you think. I will say when HD has promos on it’s bits, they usually can’t be beat, but also always limited stock (usually just what comes on the cardboard shipper).

          Whoops, you’re right. Sorry Julian!

Somewhat recently someone else made a similar comment, but generalizing about the power tools and accessories.

The bit sets are tricky because you have to look at the quantity and also variety of the bits, something that can be hard to do even if looking at just two sets held in different hands.

On the Shockwave bit set, the contents list something I haven’t seen before…under the Phillips bit section, they list P1, P2 and P3 and a PR2 bit. What is that? It’s not a square drive since they list those separately.

Here is the full description listed on HD’s site:
    Includes: (1) compact bit holder; (1) in. magnetic nut driver, (1) 5/16 in. magnetic nut driver; insert bits: (2) PH1, (5) PH2, (1) PR2, (2) PH3, (2) SQ1, (4) SQ2, (2) SQ3, (1) T10, (2) T15, (3) T20, (5) T25, (1) T27, (1) T30, (1) T40, (1 )SL#8, (1) SL#10, (1) 3/16 in. Hex; 2 in. Power Bits: (2) PH2, (1) SQ2, (1) T20, (1) T25

Nevermind, 2 minutes of searching answered my question. It’s a reduced diameter #2 bit for drywall. It engages better in drywall screws.

But let’s not give it an abbreviation that makes sense like DW or something. I wondered the same thing on my Milwaukee set a while back, but didn’t think to research further. Then last week ironically, I was looking at an Irwin impact bit set I picked up super cheap, and it listed both #2 & #2 drywall bits, which I thought I hadn’t seen before, but guess I already own one.

Sweet, the M12 drain snake is $179 with a 4AH battery. I’ve been waiting for the M12 2571-20 or dewalt DCD200 to go on sale somewhere since those are the 2 battery systems I invested in.

I bought the 9.0 Amp Hr + 5.0 Amp Hr kit with the charger for $299 & got the free Rocket light. However, it was not a “deal”, especially because they just put a regular charger in the bundle. I’ve seen the 9.0 with the rapid charger for $129 and I bought the 5.0 with rapid charger for $99 recently. So for $229 I could get a 9.0, a 5.0 and two rapid chargers.

Lately, Milwaukee has not been nearly as sweet on their “deals” & I’ve slowed way down on my acquisitions. I also noticed that they bumped up the prices on several items just before Father’s Day, so they could claim a bigger “savings”. The cordless vacuum went up from $8 9 to $99. The M18 Rocket light went from $179 to $199. I’ll likely wait for Black Friday before I get anything else from them.

They didn’t “bump up” their prices, they were on sale this whole time and now they went back to normal.

How do the Milwaukee Spade bits compare to Bosch, Irwin, and others. I don’t remember every seeing them before. Thanks.

When I saw the deal, my first thought was also “Milwaukee makes spade drill bits?”

Unfortunately, I don’t know if they’re any good. I would hope they’re at least on-par with Irwin.

I bought a set of the Bosch at Home Depot the other day, they really make a mess of the wood, really tears into it, and not in a good way. I’ll reserve these for other duties that do not require an aesthetically pleasing cut. Best to use two sacrificial pieces of wood with these, top and bottom. Not impressed. Should have went with the Irwin.

I bought a set to try, and for the holder. One more thing I can mount on the peg board. I usually buy the Bosch dare-devils or Irwin tri-flute augers, but inexpensive bits are always nice to have to around for those ‘I don’t want to wreck my good bit” moments, or to lend out.

Speaking of on sale, I picked up the Makita 6.5 inch 18 volt circular saw this morning at Home Depot. They have a deal through the 7th of July 2019, but the Makita 4.0 amp 18 volt battery with quick charger ($129.00) get a free 6.5″ circular saw, sawzall, or one of those =<brain fart, doorway jam saws, one of those for free, tool only. I grabbed the circular saw, as it compliments my Milwaukee 7 1/4" 18 volt circular saw. I was looking to get the Milwaukee 6.5 saw, but this was a better deal, and like most here, I have a mix of tools. To good a deal to pass up, as I wanted a larger Makita battery anyways.
