Over at Home Depot, today’s special buy deal of the day features a selection of Milwaukee M12 and M18 cordless power tool combo kits, tape measure 2-packs, and a big set of Hole Dozer hole saws.
Update (2:20pm ET): It looks like Home Depot fixed the pricing, making the deals a LOT better! See deals here.

The Milwaukee M18 cordless power tool deals are a LOT better than they were this morning. It seems that there was some kind of glitch affecting the displayed sale pricing.

The tape measure deals are decent; I bought that same 2-pack of 16-foot tapes for $15 in mid-November as part of the Pro Black Friday deals.
The hole saw set also looks to be a fantastic price!

Deals end at 3am ET 12/25/18, unless supplies sell out sooner.
For reference, here is what the deals looked like this morning. Parts of the post were edited to reflect the changes made to the deal pricing.

Come on, those prices are ridiculously high! Dewalt cost less and is as good if not better.
Scott
sounds like a yellow fan-boy
Stuart
No, some of the tools were advertised at “why would anyone buy this?” prices earlier today, but Home Depot has since fixed it.
Larry
Never had yellow guys last 1/2 as long as red.
Corey
See, and I’m the opposite. Started red, rma’d two drills and an impact within 18 months, went out and bought 18v xrp, and I’ve never burnt one out yet from the stem packs to all my 20v’s, and the flexvolt are just beastly. It’s the same as trucks, they wouldn’t be multi-million dollar companies if they made primarily lemons, but unique bad experiences make it people’s minds and preference.
Bruce
Dealt is ok Milwaukee cordless r so much better no comparison and I have used both Milwaukee hands down is better
Rob
Boy. Not much of a bargain for the 5 tool M12 combo kit. I bought that kit at Home Depot 3 weeks ago. Paid $199
Jordan
It’s still that much, just looked haha..
Aaron
It shows $189
Thom
Nice deal on the Stud tapes

Stuart. I think the US Made Hole Dozer set might be the best one day deal here. I remember a near deal last year or even two years ago. Maybe a bigge set? Maybe not HD though.
And my friends keep “borrowing” parts of it. I wonder if I should get this set to one of them?
Decisions. Decisions.
Merry Christmas to all. Etc. Etc. BTW!
Stuart
Agreed, that is a really good buy!

Hole dozer! has the larger diameter sizes that are expensive if bought separately. Going to return the 17 piece holiday set I just got for $40
Thanks for the heads up!
Lance
I also bought that $39.99 hole dozer deal. Which is cheap price wise. But could you elaborate what really makes this kit worth the extra $60? I mean I get larger sizes costing more. Personally I never use super large sizes. Carbide tips would be nice but still not worth the $60 extra. I’m always slightly confused with drill bit. Why hole saws are so expensive at times ie: Lenox kit my boy has is like $200+!? Or seeing split point drill bits in a metal case for $100 on sale…wtf? It’s not like you can sharpen black/gold oxide or titanium bits, why wouldn’t I buy a $20 set then toss when full buy again. I just bought a set of ryobi black oxide bits for…$4 I get different coatings & different alloys, I’ve broken my share of small bits that weren’t to high of quality but to spend so much extra money has me kinda clueless. Wish someone could help me understand this ish bc I could elaborate on why this drill is better than that drill ect ?
Stuart
The 17pc $40 set has 9 sizes, 3/4″ to 2-1/2″.
The 20pc set (currently $109), has 13 sizes, 3/4″ to 4-1/2″. 6 of the sizes are larger than what you get in the other set.
Larger hole saws are pricier than smaller ones. If you don’t need larger sizes, stick with the smaller set.
Last year I bought a 28pc set for $140 on sale. It has 22 sizes from 3/4″ to 4-3/4″.
As for drill bits, quality drill bits are far better than cheaper ones. Cheap bits can work okay sometimes, until there’s a more demanding application. A long time ago I bought some individual sizes of USA-made drill bits, and they worked better for me than cheap bits, and so I’ve stuck with those brands for precision work, and construction tool brands’ bits for more general purpose drilling.
Cheap bits from a reputable brand can be okay for some tasks.

What the heck? Those prices in the pic here are not the correct deal prices. On HD’s site they are $289 for the 5 pc, and 239, 469, and 189. Did you find and post this before all the deals went live somehow?
Stuart
No – I posted it at 8am-ish. Deals go live at 3am ET.
I took a screenshot of what I saw, compared the tools with other promo sets, made a face at the pricing being so uncompelling, and went ahead with the post because some of the deals were still worth mentioning.
I’m guessing there was a glitch that was fixed sometime before 12pm.
Aaron
Looks like they have dropped some of these prices since you checked, might do at least to update your image.

I actually bought one of the special buys not listed here today from last week for Milwaukee. Opened it up last night and noticed right away a little battery wiggle when the batteries are mated with either the Impact Driver or the Drill. Is that normal for Milwaukee? It concerns me that brand new, they would wiggle like that. My Kobalt tools don’t wiggle at all and my decade old plus Bosch drill wiggles a little but less than the brand new Milwaukee. I have wanted to get into Milwaukee for a long time because of the cordless tool selection and this seemed like the opportune moment. Now I am not so sure.
Stuart
If you’re concerned, you could try requesting a return and replacement.
Benjamen investigated some tool-battery wiggle with an M18 product two years ago, and this was the official response:
The M18 interface is designed to allow limited movement between the tool and battery.
Unfortunately “limited movement” is not very specific.
Bill
Thank you for the information. Sounds like it is designed that way. Now I just have to decide if I am willing to accept that design specification. 🙂
Robin
If I had to guess, it’s to help them reject getting stuck due to grime. I have a 3 month old Dewalt FlexVolt whose batteries are already becoming stuck in the tool and in the charger due to metalworking contaminants. I just bought back into Milwaukee *specifically because* I noticed they don’t fit their batteries as tight
Robert
Once you’ve gone carbide, you’ll never use bi-metal if at all possible.
Speed and durability are so much better.
Corey
I’ve had my greenlee 660 qwik change 5pc carbides for 5 years and have yet to replace anything but pilot bits. Keep them clean of chip weld, and mind your speeds and they’re pretty much the greatest thing since sliced bread lol my 1⅛” is discolored purple from lending it to a co-worker that decided to burn through a bunch of purlin punches, but they still do job.
