Special Buy: Milwaukee Fastback Utility Knife Bundle

MIlwaukee Fastback Knife Black Friday 2017 Deal Bundle

Over at Home Depot, they have one of the best Milwaukee Fastback utility knife “Special Buy” bundles that I ever recall seeing.

This bundle comes with 2 knives and a blade pack.

Milwaukee Fastback utility knife. This looks to be their non-blade-storage model, which is still one of my favorites due to its size, convenience, and durability. It retails for $10 at Home Depot.

Milwaukee Compact Fastback utility knife. This version is smaller, with no cutting hook or built-in blade storage. It retails for $9 at Acme Tools and at Home Depot.

Milwaukee 50-count general purpose blades with dispenser. Our friends over at Tool Nut have this blade pack for $12. These are standard blades, made in the USA.

So that’s $31 worth of knives and blades. The bundle is on sale for $15 as a “Special Buy.”

Milwaukee runs promos on Fastback knives a couple of times each year. I’d expect to see the two utility knives bundled together for $15. Or either of the knives plus the 50-count blade pack. But all three? That makes this an extremely appealing deal.

I have too many utility knives, some of which I haven’t misplaced yet. But I’ll likely be buying this pack during my next trip to HD.

And as mentioned in my How do you dispose of dull utility knife blades post, I recently bought a 50-pack of excellent Dewalt carbide utility knife blades that’s still very full.

I think I see what’s going on here. Home Depot and Milwaukee thought they could put together a Fastback bundle so good that everyone would visit their local store or HomeDepot.com to buy one. Fastback users would buy more of their favorite knives, and non-Fastback users would give the brand a try. Well, good try, it’s going to work.

Price: $14.88, eligible for free shipping on $45+ orders, in-store pickup, and in-store purchases

I grabbed one the other day. It looked like most of the display was gone already. I already have the full-size fast back, but wanted to try the ‘compact’ one (& can always use more blades). After trying ti, I do prefer the full size knife, but I’m sure the other will see plenty of use.

I would like to get a Fastback that has blade storage. That’s my only complaint of units I already have, but knew that when buying

I have one of the fastbacks without blade storage. Probably the best folding utility knife I have ever had.

I thought about this sale for a minute or two then decided that despite the bargain price – I do not need any more knife handles and probably have enough blades to last my lifetime. I have a utility knife, a flashlight, and a tape measure hung up or stashed away in most every conceivable place that I might use one in each of my 3 domiciles. There comes a time when adding more gets to be hoarding.

The ones I I most often grab (hanging in the garage, or in the kitchen are a self-retracting Tajimas – which can be had at Acme (11% off right now) :

I don’t grab these for construction or drywall etc. – but mostly for household chores, opening cartons etc. – and I feel they are a bit safer with grandkids around.

Thanks, I might have to try that one.

I tend to give tools away, and sometimes still find myself hunting for a utility knife or tape measure.

Scotch tape, packing tape, knives, flashlights, multi bit screwdrivers, and tape measures. No matter how many I have in the house, there are times when I can’t find a single one.

My wife doesn’t use tools most of the time. With that said I usually show her (with excitement of course) whenever I get a new toy and she remembered. Speaking of which, the order day she wanted my Dewalt folding utility knife so she can split chestnut prior to cooking.

How about buying her a Chestnut knife:

        Talk about specialized tools!

Thanks fred! I’ll show it to her.

I was thinking to get a metal shop making a custom jig for her to do it. Perhaps a square knife that can slide up and down two side rail with a stopper on the rail. So it can split multiple nuts almost effortlessly via the momentum of the sliding.

I was just at HD checking out what was on display already and noticed this nice deal. I was going to post about it in the black friday comments because i have the fancier Fastback and really like it and it cost just a little less by itself than this whole bundle!

I have both these knives and may grab one of these sets to have a couple extras. They’re great knives and this is a great deal with both knives and the blades

I bought this utility knife today at my Home Depot store. When I tried it at home, I was somewhat disappointed. The blades wobble a lot inside the knife. However, changing the blades is easy and fast. And for $15 this is not a bad deal.

I have a bunch of utility knives and blades but may get this as well. From the top of my head, I bought at least three of the silver DeWalt 2-packs, probably six of the yellow DeWalt 2-packs (with the problematic blade release) and a couple of previous Fastback promos. I got the Fatmax assisted folder with 50-pack of blades a couple of days ago as well.

It’s nice having a utility knife handy when needed, and despite most of mine being packed in tool boxes I pretty much have one available in each room. The Fastback is one of the better designs I’ve seen, and the compact version has served as a carry knife in the past.

I got one today. My favorite utility knife. I’ll try the smaller one, perhaps in the glovebox.
