This is just a friendly FYI, that Milwaukee’s jobsite organizer, model 48-22-8030, has been discontinued.
The organizer first launched in 2015 and features removable bins. You connect multiple organizers together for easy carrying and storage, via side latches.
It was a great product, with a folding handle to maximize internal space, secure latches, and a clear lid that helped keep the removable cups in place and parts from mixing.

Now, there are several different Packout organizers – half and full-width organizers, low profile organizers, and also a deep organizer with customizable compartments.
The non-Packout organizer has been made somewhat redundant in recent years, but it’s still well-loved by many users.
If you were hoping to add more jobsite organizers to your kit, now’s the time to look for them. It might already be too late, as I’m not seeing them in stock at Home Depot or several other online suppliers I checked.
I can find the jobsite organizer at industrial suppliers, but at higher Packout-level prices. These were a great buy at $20-30. At close to $50? I’d put the same money towards Packout organizers.
If you’re not ready to switch over to Packout, the holiday shopping season is only a couple of months away, and there are usually some great promos to help soften the hit to your wallet.

These were great, especially for bulk fasteners at the price. There’s not really anything of similar quality for the cost and utility that I’ve found. I’ve habitually bought another one or two any time I walked by them at $25.
I’m sad to see them go, and now I wish I’d bought another half a dozen or so!

The DeWalt ones are just the right mix of affordable and quality imo. Metal latches, aftermarket 3d printable tubs and upper deck trays for the tubs.
I’ve got about 16-18 of them, and they’re perfect for the $8-10 I’ve paid for each.

That really sucks. I own at lease 20 of them. Every time I went to HD I would buy 2 or 3 of them. For the past 2 weeks they have been gone everywhere. I did have to buy 1 of the pack out onces that are very deep and cost a lot more money. They need to drop the pack out one by at lease 10.00 because it’s to high

I know they’re not quite as durable as the Milwaukee offering, but they’re more than tough enough to sit around my workshop.

It’s not, you can buy the Packout organizer for that much and it’s objectively a better product (slightly larger, more heavy duty).
There are retailers other than HD online that still claim to have a few, but they’re all $50+ too which per above is a deal breaker.

Oh no! I have several of these. They would go on sale semi-regularly for $50 Canadian for a two pack. I’m not a Packout user and they were cheaper and better than the Dewalt equivalent.
I better go see if there’s any leftovers I can scoop up. It would be annoying to have different kinds I can’t link – or to switch over.

I’m so salty about this. I standardized on these a few months ago, buying ~10 for the garage and one for first aid inside the house. They’re fantastic. I went to buy another half dozen earlier this week and saw they’re gone. I already scanned the ~6 Home Depot stores around town and they’re all out, despite the 1-2 the website claims they have.
I think this is Milwaukee abandoning an entire use case to push Packout. If these were still in stock I’d happily buy another 10, but there’s no way I’m spending twice the money to buy the Packout organizers for garage organization. And I say that as someone who already has Packout stuff.
I guess the $15 Husky box is the next best alternative for home or light duty commercial use?

I use a bunch of those Huskys for organizing craft supplies and they’ve been great. In the workshop I prefer discrete containers over bulky organizers like these.

Same, I had 12 kitted out with DIY shadowed foam inserts and new tools as my “to go” kits so I’d stop having to remove tools from my garage to go help family at their houses (and shadowed so I wouldn’t forget tools there either). Built a cabinet to slot them into for storage. Would’ve loved to expand with another dozen just-in-case had we had some warning… but I’m not paying 2x either.
Also had 1 case/kit stolen, so I guess I’ll be filling it in with a different brand. The Bauer ones seem ok (?) and about the same size..

These are better internally designed than the packout. You can rearrange the bins and even add large bins anywhere unlike the packout which forces you to use the large bins in the middle. There are a really good parts holder.

Bummer. I have 10 of these in my shop and I’m building a case with drawer slides around them to make grabbing fasteners and a variety of parts/pieces quick and easy. Several years ago I looked at all the options and determined these were the best available and worth the slightly higher price versus Dewalt or husky. The Packout system is great but it’s too expensive for just garage organization.

These are/ were fantastic at the old $25 price, I have 6-7. I saw these at Home Depot a few weeks back but the cost was $32’ish. I will have to look at my local HD’s.

The Craftsman models at Lowes aren’t half bad and the price on those is much more attractive. I think they have two clear and one solid case. I picked up a couple earlier this year. Those are for bench storage, though, not getting knocked around.

“F” Milwaukee for doing this. I have, like others here, maybe 12-15 of these and have standardized my jobsite parts, rivet kits, soldering kits, electrical kits using these and could use easily 5-6 more. Who wants to spend $50 + for an un-needed Packout setup?! And I say that as a Packout user.

I’ve not compared them to packout of course, But often I wish I could just snap it into my packout and leave it out of the truck, all I keep in it is screws, ground screws and small stuff of the sort.

Looks like Milwaukee is trying to steer everyone to Pack-Out, which I’m sure it’s more profitable. It was nice. Though the best value in organizers, hands down, is the deep Dewalt Pro small parts organizer when it goes on sale at HD during the holidays. It’s a pretty good organizer, not the best, not part of a larger system, but for $10 nothing comes close. Sadly I expect to see at least $3 added to it’s holiday price this year as it’s regular price is already up $4 due to inflation.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO…..damn, thats a shame. These are such a good value. At less then half the price of a comparable packout these were my go to organizers. I like that it didn’t have that wasted middle space like the packout version. Its a little more compact and smaller, perfect for stacking up on a shelf. They really need to change their mind on this, keep it around.

I’m pretty sure that model is made by Keter. Looks like Walmart now sells an 18″ version under the Hart brand (about $24); in the past, they sold it under the Keter brand (not sure if it was 18″ or 22″).

Whenever I pass Ridgid cases, I think that for the money, they’re a great deal. Then I open them up and the smell is too strong and gives me a headache, so I pass. Does the smell go away?

A lot of plastic tool boxes and organizers need to be aired out.
For most plastic storage products, the odors do go away.
If really strong, I leave them open and outside for a bit. If not too strong, I leave them open in the garage or near an open window.

I wonder if this is Milwaukee trying to push people towards Packout, or if it’s Milwaukee having to prioritize in light of ongoing manufacturing and the supply issues they might be facing? Or maybe it’s taking advantage of the latter to accomplish the former?

I think that sales figures might have been behind this, with more interest and sales volume for Packout, and less for the jobsite organizer.
Materials, production, and shipping costs have risen, and so maybe it just doesn’t make sense to offer the jobsite organizer anymore.
Retailers also have limited shelf space. If they could only carry one full-size organizer, which one do you think it would be?

I was thinking it might be a combination of effects. Rising production costs might make this $25 organizer (which is surprisingly good for the price) unsustainable.
If the price must increase to keep this profitable… well then maybe it starts to become too close to the Packout versions.
The one thing I don’t think makes sense is sales volume. Seems like they are plenty popular from all the disappointment people are expressing here. Sales “figures” might be different though – maybe there’s not enough profit.

This happened to me on the Sortimo side too – they discontinued my favorite double-layer T box.
I don’t get the Packout thing – they are expensive and so space inefficient – the walls on the containers are like 1.5” thick. I guess if you need to stand on them that makes sense, but the price and bulk of Packout means they are a no for me.

Sortimo still have half-height bins and insert trays, as well as dual later combos, they just changed the shapes a little and the color of everything to black.
The color-coded bins from the previous/classic version T-Boxxes works great for me, and I cannot understand why they thought switching to all black-color bins was a good idea.

That’s funny Stuart – I’ve always been turned off by the seemingly kid’s toys looking rainbow color asst bins that Festool used in their Systainer organizers – I think I prefer the cleaner all grey look. Plus – who needs the colors when the contents are instantly viewable the minute you open the lid?

I’m not usually a sour grapes guy when it comes to this stuff as I understand these businesses exist to maximize earnings and shareholder value. That said: this sucks!! I’ve got 4 of these and they have hands-down been the best solution for parts organization in my garage and in fact I built a workbench storage system around them. Now I wish I had 4 more. Packouts are overkill for non-vehicle applications, if you ask me. I’ve also tried the $10 DeWalt ones and they are OK but not as good as these. The Ridgid one isn’t bad either but feels more Packout-ish with the side handle thingys. I’m sure the Husky or Craftsman ones will work but if you’re OCD like me it’s a bummer to have mix-and-match organizers. Damn you, Milwaukee, for making such a great organizer and then DC’ing it! Now I have to be careful and not break the ones I have.

I guess the lesson is when you find a perfect organizer buy out several stores and hoard the containers to sell to the other commenters at full retirement fund prices. If I remember correctly, Stuart had been going through an

This saddens me. I started buying and using them about 2 years before Pack-Out was released, and have 18 of them in use. Went looking ro pick up a few more the other day, no luck.
I started bying them at $19 each, and the last I bought were $26. I would pay up to $30 for them.
If they were adaptable to pack-out, I would consider the change.

Speaking of organizers, the Ridgid pro organizer is half price at HD now ($20). It’s the one that goes with the stackable “system”. Not the 10-compartment clear top one, but the one that is actually just the suitcase with some bins. So throw more bins in, or use it as a suitcase, it’s a good price.
I have some Q-brick stuff on order and I need to find whose store-brand stuff is compatible.

I’ve owned every brand of these style organizers, including green from the early 2000’s.
I’ve used,worn-out at least 10,and have given at least 20 to different friends.
We all should understand that any tools have a limited manufacturing period,especially when it isn’t a premium line.
If you like the lesser,then buy them when available.
This isn’t like changing battery style on a cordless line,nor craftsman warranting better to lesser tools.
Am not part of the red army, but packout has completely changed the way I store tools and supplies.

I was talking to the TTI Rep a few weeks ago about this very issue. I know there are a few of you on this comment section blasting Milwaukee for this decision, but go look at what many are saying, “I bought a few of these on clearance…” .
With the cost of production, shipping and supply chain issues, they had to look at the adjusted price being just a few dollars shy of a comparably sized Packout box, why would you continue making them. Also, since there were less and less of these being sold on a national scale and more Packout being sold, and also having the Ridgid portable storage system priced below Packout, why would you continue.
Since HD is having to clearance a lot of these, and they need more shelf space for Packout,… why continue.
With the lower production of crude oil, the price of plastics is rising. Higher fuel prices, higher electricity and production costs, again it’s all adding up.
It’s always an economical question when it comes to running a business, and as we see, less are buying these, more are buying Packout, DeWalt or Ridgid or even Husky from HD, and the various brands from Lowe’s or other outlets. It only makes sense to go this route.
I was also told they’d possibly be moving their storage product manufacturing stateside in the near future, which would cut down on transportation/distribution costs. But no word on what would be included in that line up.

Man, I’ve been wondering where these went. This is sad news. Back when I bought a bunch of these they were the only bigger name, sturdy organizer that used a square grid. You could replace the wide bins with 2 smaller ones, no problem. Not something you could do with others. RIP…

This is the same thing when they switched to the m series battery packs, left you hanging. Milwaukee makes good tools but are the really worth 30 to 50% more than dewalt. I won’t stand with a company who now pushes you in one direction. Will never buy a packout or any case in that line. Guess what I’m saying is, good bye milwaukee.

They need to look at who they are selling to. We are trades people that actually work for a living… we cant afford to buy a parts box for $100.00 bucks, really??? bring the product back and stop with the greed…..
