Thanks to our friends at Milwaukee Tool – one of our favorite tool brands and a ToolGuyd advertising partner – we’re kicking off a new giveaway, featuring the M12 Hatchet and Hackzall cutting tools.
Let’s take a look at the prizes:
Milwaukee M12 FUEL Hatchet Compact Chainsaw

The Milwaukee M12 Fuel Hatchet is not your average cordless chainsaw. It’s compact, light, and extremely capable for its size.

The M12 Hatchet features a PowerState brushless motor, variable speed trigger, metal bucking spikes, easy access chain tensioner, and automatic oiler.
It’s the perfect tool for pruning small branches and tree limbs.
Milwaukee M12 FUEL Hackzall Compact Reciprocating Saw

The Milwaukee M12 Fuel Hackzall is a compact and convenient one-handed reciprocating saw.
The cordless Hackzall excels at lighter and overhead tasks where a full-size saw can quickly become fatiguing, or tighter spaces where larger saws are too awkward.
While compact, the Hackzall is fast and powerful enough for light demo work, as well as rough cutting of pipes and other construction materials.
It’s a great fit for pruning smaller tree branches – or larger bush branches – and would make a nice complement to the Hatchet.

Milwaukee’s also throwing in a pack of pruning blades to help get you started. That way you’re ready for fall or storm cleanup tasks.

James C
I’d try them out in our family’s orchard. They’re a lot more maneuverable than what we use now.
christopher yancy
i’d use them to break down fire wood for smores
RicCabras
I would live this for myself but my mom would be more happier for her gardening needs.
Big Richard
I would donate them to our local volunteer parks services that do trail maintenance, invasive tree & shrub removal, habitat restoration, etc..
Jared
Currently a Ridgid user, trying to supplement with tools they don’t offer.
Josh
I would use it for cutting up camp fire wood when camping and trimming limbs around the yard
Joseph Jetton
The pruning saw would be great for my arthritic hands.
Dan Watson
I would like to add these to my tool collection because I currently have neither. These would come in handy for trimming the many bushes and trees in my yard.
matthew Snyder
I would give it to my dad as a gift. He loves chainsaws and Milwaukee power tools.
John t
Older I get the smaller the saws I get
Dan D
I would use them for clearing buckthorn and other invasives at out property.
Josh
I need to do a lot of trimming around my property and in the woods, and a small, light duty saw would be perfect. I’ve been using a jigsaw with a wood blade to break down smaller branches for firewood but something like the Milwaukee Hatchet is really the perfect tool for that kind of task. I’ve also been seriously considering expanding into m12 tools, so winning this would be a great start to that!
Levi
This would be very handy for our small orchard pruning. We have 14 apple and pear trees.
Chris
I’d like to win because I’ve never owned either type of these saws before. As a homeowner I can see uses for both of them, but the hatchet model would be especially useful for the multitude of small limbs and branches I need to prune.
Jeremy K
I would use them to cut wood for green woodworking.
ethan
Just bought some property with really mature overgrown trees in the backyard. These would be great to help maintain the trees and keep them growing up instead of out!
Jim C
Oh man, I’ve got some overgrown ornamental cherry trees in the backyard that are sweating bullets at the prospect of my getting my hands on that Hatchet! As for the mini recip, I could see using that for pruning too, but more likely I’d use it for pipe cutting. Overkill for the irrigation system and lv lighting I want to put in next year, but probably more fun than a manual saw.
Mosh
Currently don’t have a havkzall size recip, perfect for in wall snaking small conduits..
Hatchet Gr8 for opening cardboard boxes lol 😆
Mosh
And most of all….
Thanks to Stuart for this amazing site…
Eric
Our property has endless branches to trim as the elm trees slowly die… My full sized Ryobi recip saw is just too much for a lot of them. One-handed options would be super useful!
Tyler
We have some family that purchased some land with a lot of pine tree rows that need pruning. The compact tools will help with access in the tighter spots.
Spencer Wurm
I would use this to prune the unwanted trees in my yard and it would really coming in handy.
Tommy Jensen
Would love to have this for trimming my trees. I already have the pole saw but it gets very heavy very quickly!
Terry
Moved recently, have a lot of branch trimming to do, the small chainsaw would be quite helpful.
Robert Landrigan
These would be a huge help at camp; I try to find fallen wood that I can salvage and use to make awards for our scouts- and as that’s always in my ‘free time’, anything that can speed things up is welcome. And as my M12 heated gear and lanterns are already a fixture at Winter Camp, these tools would fit right in!
Bill Bertin
This would be a wonderful way of taking care of a tree that got eaten by the cicadas here in Virginia. Its not a large one. Perfect for this combo pack. The 12v floodlight I just bought recently has been amazing and 18v platform is also great. Milwaukee have been very good for my family. My young kids love the blower more than I do. Thank you!
MM
These would be wonderful for a relative who loves to garden & work in their (massive) yard, but is getting to the age where they find most chain saws or my big recip saw to be too heavy. They could use the hatchet for pruning limbs and cleaning up smaller storm debris and the hackzall with a carbide blade for roots. The root thing is important because said relative sprained their back not too long ago trying to cut roots with an axe. It would be very nice to be able to leave tools with them not only for their own use, but also so there are some tools there when I come by to help out and I don’t have to remember to bring mine. I’m sure they would have plenty of uses for the Hackzall for odd jobs too.
Jason Holloway
I would like to use these for property maintenance and helping my family around their homes.
Scott F
The hatchet would go to the ladies of the house for general pruning/cutting tasks, since they are too scared of the real chainsaw! Not actually sure where I would use this for myself in any regular capacity, aside from possibly taking it into the woods on back of the 4×4 for trail clearing instead of the chainsaw (might be wrong class of tool)
The Hackzall on the other hand…. I bought the M18 hackzall as probably the second Milwaukee tool I purchased years back, and I love that thing. M12 would come in handy for the smaller form factor for lighter duty tasks, and AGAIN be something I wouldn’t hesitate to toss over to the ladies for their needs. Would be nice to have the option between M12/M18 so I can keep to one platform when packing up a mobile box also.
Cool tools, and even cooler as a giveaway – thanks ToolGuyd AND Milwaukee!!
Lance
The versatility of small saws would benefit me greatly as my current saw is bulky and difficult to use in tight spaces. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
GNew
I would use them to dress up as a tiny lumberjack for Halloween, then possibly use them for Doll House Demolition. Once I decide to get my tools dirty after being bench queens, I will plan on a bit of tree clean up in my yard.
greg
The hatchet would be invaluable for tree pruning for branches in-between pruners and full size chainsaws
Matt S
I would put them to great use on the property of the new home we bought this summer. I have a variety of trees/shrubs/bushes that will need pruning for their health as well as safety to my home.
KG
I’d use these for trimming and pruning around the property.
I’ve been impressed with the M18 Chainsaw. Haven’t pulled out the gas unit since actually and we dropped and cleared over 30 trees on the property this summer. I’m curious how capable the M12 Hatchet is.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, I tried a Diablo pruning blade in a reciprocating saw some years back but it was unimpressive so I’m equally curious how the Milwaukee setup compares.
MoogleMan3
I’d give the hatchet to my dad. He’s an avid gardener and would love to have something like that in his arsenal.
I’d use the hackzall quite a bit.
Dennis H
I would love to use in tight areas on the side of my house
Kevin
I’ve got a 3″ chipper, so something this size would be perfect for breaking down branches that will fit in the chipper. I’ve used a full-sized recip for pruning before and it works pretty well with the Bosch pruning blades I have, but it’s a bit of a pain to get a full-size corded saw where it needs to be, so the hackzall looks great for that. But if I had the hatchet, the Hackzall would probably get used more for general recip saw things than pruning.
789talon
I would use both tools to trim my bushes, lilac and plum tree around my property. This would definitely improve the process and eliminate the risk of my trimmers getting the extension cord cut.
John Neitzey
I would use them to trim and maintain my very small apple and pear orchard, that is really just to supply family and a few friends with fruit. They would both come in super handy.
Rik
It would be a nice addition for pruning our tree farm
Rman
The m12 hatchet would help me out tremendously because of a bad shoulder rotator I can no longer use a hand saw to prune small branches
The m12 hackzall tool would help to cut smaller wood for wood stove kindling to heat my home this winter
eric
The chainsaw would be great for pruning on my property and it’s small enough to be easy to use for trail maintenance on some of the local bike trails. The hackzall would be nice for light duty demo and metal cutting around the house.
Sean
I would use the Hatchet for pruning branches around our house. I don’t currently have anything like it. The Fuel Hackzall would be a great replacement for my non fuel M12 sawzall.
jason ezell
I do HVAC service and installations. I cant count the number of times I have had to trim bushes and small trees away from the outdoor units to allow proper access and airflow. The hatchet compact chainsaw would speed up these jobsite situations tremendously. We also find ourselves cutting quite bit of pvc for drains that the hackzall would make quick work of as well.
Brian A
The hatchet would be great to prune the fruit trees especially when the wind breaks a limb thats full of fruit.
Marc
I live on a wooded 7 acre lot and these would be quite handy in keeping things cleaned up, especially just around the house.
kevin lebel
have you seen the trails behind my house??
Allen C
I’ve got a lot of trees that need some pruning and breaking down!
Jason M
I’d continue battling back years of neglect from the prior owner. These both seem great for yard cleanup and the Hackzall would work for many things.
Ken Moon
A Hundred applications;
removing roots from replacing lawn irrigation heads
remodeling
plumbing
electrical
woodworking
tree pruning
tree roots
Steve Cecil
What a great giveaway! I have begun my investment in the M12 platform and love all the options that you can get. This would be great for those small trimming jobs around our rental house.
Rick
The M12 Fuel Hatchet would be perfect for when the time comes to get rid of the ugly Juniper bushes in front of my building. With my willingness and the right tools I could save someone a fortune on labor.
Christopher
I would really enjoy being able to re-add these to my collection. I’m a die-hard Milwaukee power tool user. Unfortunately for me, my M12 sawzall, bandsaw, and 6″ pruner were stolen out of my vehicle. I’ve already replaced my bandsaw with the newer M12 fuel one, which I have to say Is one of the best( I loved the original M12 compact bandsaw also, but the larger cut capacity with the fuel version is unbeatable). Winning these would definitely help me, because at the moment money is tight, and I haven’t been able to replace my sawzall or hatchet. Thanks for your consideration.
Jonathan
I used the M12 Hackzall with a true pruning blade (like on a bow saw) in my landscaping/Arborist business for years .
Have used a Ryobi 40V with. 8″/10″ chainsaw attachment for overhead branch trimming.
But the M12 Hatchet would be super handy trimming up on an orchard ladder or up in trees and in tight spots when a larger saw would not fit without removing desired branches.
Jammer
I have about a dozen large trees in my yard and the hatchet will help me maintain the large branches dropped regularly, or the trees that fall into the creek. Also fending off the invasive honeysuckle is a regular chore.
The hackzall will help with those tasks involving limited access cutting/demo needs. Sometimes just cutting down scrap for the waste bin and other times when you only have one hand available for the cut.
Both will be an excellent compliment to my existing M12 tools such as: installation tool, fuel hammer drill, fuel impact driver, 3/8″ ratchet, and crown stapler.
Joshua
I would use this set for trimming up trees and clearing brush around the house.
Jonathan McGaha
Pruning trees on our property and with the hacksaw, finishing cutting some studs in the house.
Andrew Gagnon
I have had my eye on the pruning saw for awhile. There are so many times where there is mild to moderate cleanup required and most of the time a full size chainsaw is just too much.
It would be great to keep the yard cleaned, maintained, and safe for the kiddos!
Arlan
I’d use the Hatchet for fire mitigation and pruning around my home, and also take along on camping trips.
Richard Simon
I would use them on roof pruning to keep the pecan tree branches off the roof. I would also use them as an entry point to transition to Milwaukee from some of my Bosch 12v tools. I am particularly interested in the Milwaukee 12v pin nailer and a clutched screw driver.
Artur
I just moved in to a new place on 7 acres of woods.
Property wasn’t up keep as it probably should have been.
A starter kit like that would definitely make a good start to the tools that I would need to get everything under control.
Christopher T Haley
I would use them to spend more time playing with my two year old. Not playing with the tools, of course; but fall cleanup on our heavily treed property takes me a full 3 or 4 weekends each year, and though I love the trees I hate spending that much time on them each year. Any tools that speed that up give me more time for family time. How much time would a better saw save? Hard to say, but all the time is precious!
Peter
Need to chop of dead fruit tree branches
Clay
Would love to have these to use on my trees in my fenceline and at the school where serve as Facility and Grounds chair.
One-handed tools are so much safer for use on a ladder!
Rich
Here in the PNW summers have gotten so dry we are not allowed to use gas powered equipment for weeks during fire season. Having an electric chainsaw would help with maintenance and cleanup of our 83 acres.
Patrick
My wife would love these. The current (other brand) hackzall is brushed and goes through the 2.0 batteries comically fast. A holster belt for batteries should come with the unit. We also have a pole saw that rarely addresses anything beyond head height and it’s a bit unwieldy to use.
Michael Quinlan
I used the M18 Fuel Chainsaw last spring to clear a lot of brush from my yard, but there was much I couldn’t get to, for lack of time and the fact that the M18 model was simply too large for it. These would definitely help me finish the job this spring.
csroc
We bought our first house this year and the yard has tons of trees and shrubs of varying sizes. I’m already looking to get a bigger chainsaw, but we also have a lot of uses for smaller more nimble tools. I’ve used some, but don’t have any that fit in to any of our existing tool ecosystems, like M12.
Amanda
I have some trees that need pruning and a sabresaw that is corded… not as great as these would be!
BJ
I’d be able to trim my trees without resorting to the handsaw anymore.
Leo B.
I would try them around the house first, on our various trees and shrubs, than help them find a good home with friends of mine who do landscaping. One especially, as he gets older, would surely appreciate the light weight and ease of use of both of these. I hope they would be able to use them for a while and enjoy using them each time they’re needed. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Scott N.
I would use the Hatchet for trimming trees and bushes around the yard, a job that often goes undone currently. The Hackzall seems like it would be very handy for some upcoming plumbing projects!
Jorhay
Man I’ve wanted a hackzall for years and never pulled the trigger on purchasing one. I don’t have many trees in the size of a regular chainsaw, but have a lot of shrubs and holly bushed that a hackzall and that hatchet would be perfect for.
Tyler
Everytime I get home from a deployment, I am overwhelmed by how overgrown my trees and large bushes get. Using these would save my back in the pruning phase so I can inevitably hurt myself dragging it all to the curb, haha.
W Radin
Unruly bamboo!
Robert
I REALLY like the compact nature of the chain saw. I would love the portability and convenience when pruning.
With that said, I’d make sure I knew exactly where my cuts were going before I started. I wouldn’t be holding my breath expecting an impressive run time with a 12 volt and that tool.
MichaelT
Already on the M12 platform and love the tools. These would help me keep the walking paths our kids use safer.
Jaycob P.
I live in the country and have tons of brush that I am slowly working on cleaning up. These saws would certainly help a bunch with getting things cleaned up.
Gordon R. Brown
I need M-12 fuel hatchet to keep my cottonwood and pine trees under control.
Thomas
These would come in very handy both for maintaining my orchard and for limbing trees cut for firewood to heat our off grid cabin.
Chris Horan
I’ve been looking at the hatchet since it came out! I’ve got 4 huge oak trees in my backyard and climbing up there with my 550xp ducks. I don’t do it enough to justify an arborist saw but these look rad.
Jim Apps
I think Milwaukee makes the dest tools. I would us the tools to keep my numerous trees well groomed.
John
The hackzall would be great for so many uses – pruning and other. The hatchet would help with pruning the shrubs and trees in my yard.
Bruce Bufford
The M12 system has proven itself time and time again to be the definitive answer for cake decorating & baking. The M12 caulking gun is perfect for icing, and the M12 blower is great for that random spattering of coconut. It really embeds it in the cake, the wall, and anyone standing nearby!
I think the M12 chainsaw would be a great alternative to the bandsaw for cutting cake, as it has a larger more exposed cutting edge.
And the M12 reciprocating saw? Great as a fondant cutter!
Andrew
Using manual saws to break down junk material is not fun
DML
I’d love to try that M12 FUEL Hatchet chainsaw for pruning my palm trees. Looks like the perfect size to make that job easier and safer, especially when off the ground.
Jerrod
Cutting those limbs that like to slap me in the face while brush hogging my property.
Christian F
These would be great for pruning trees around the yard!
Pat
I’d use them to keep my out of control lilacs in line and clearing invasives from my lot. Have a bunch of M12 and M18 tools already but all my outdoor stuff is currently manual or gas.
Christopher J Wilke
Always nice to have a handheld option on a ladder
Brian Collins
I live in a house with big trees – the majority of which date from 1956 (the year my house was built).
When I’m not picking up sticks or leaves,I have an ongoing need for tools like the ones in the giveaway.
I need to do a better job maintaining and pruning my trees rather than continuing to hire stuff out (and be on Christmas card list of landscapers!)
Will
I want to kick my unruly yard’s butt.
Minh Vuong
These are just the right size for pruning our small yard trees!
Tom Walker
Some members of our HOA are no longer able to perform tree and landscape maintenance, due to age and /or infirmity. These would be used for community chores done by volunteers for the members mentioned above.
Thank you for holding this giveaway.
Jon98
to clean up around the yard and to make it faster cutting up wood when I want to use the fire pit. and it works out that I already have M12 tools at home and at work
Matt S
I’ve got a new-to-me piece of bare land that needs a bunch of clean-up and these would certainly do the trick!
Adam B
I would use this for local trail main attendance and in particular after storms clearing limbs and downed small trees so that patrons can more quickly get back to enjoying them. In addition, my neighbors are old and could some help with tree pruning!
Adam M.
Definitely would use this for property maintenance. This would make things go a bit quicker without having to fire up the gas powered saw
DrDoug
Over the past year plus, I’ve lost roughly 20+ black walnut trees to the Lanternfly currently devastating our area (eastern PA). These two tools would help me (and my sons) to clear out the damaged trees, after bringing the, down.
Chris H
Cleaning up trails in our 50-acre woods would be once GREAT thought.
TonyT
I’d use them to trim my growing-like-crazy trees, especially the ornamental plum tree. Currently, I’m using a Ryobi reciprocating saw and 22″ hedge trimmer, but I think these would world better – I’m especially intrigued by the chain saw. Finally, it’d be cool to have some M12 tools.
Barry Maslen
Both tools would be perfect for pruning and maintaining the tree growth around my property. I haven’t gotten into the M12 tools and this would be a great start.
Will Cooley
I just planted 16 trees for my orchard these would be perfect to keep them pruned up and producing more fruit! Also perfect for trail clearing on my local land trust trails I volunteer on.
Branden
Just bought a new home(to us)this past year. It needs a whole lot of plumbing work that could be made much easier by a good small recip saw. We also have some wild apple trees that could use a good trim. Either tool would pair nicely with my budding M12 collection.
Steve
I’d use the pruning saw for cutting down wood for our fire pit, as well as trimming back some overgrowth along the creek at the back of my property. I’ve been considering these both since getting into the M12 tool platform this year, and I have been continually impressed with how solid the tools are.
John Fal
👍🏻👍🏻 Love at first sight! I’ve been wanting one of these m12 Hacksaws for a while now, I have 11 crape myrtles that need tlc right now. They are to big for hand pruning, but not really big enough for a full sized chainsaw. This is where this little mini chainsaw would come in very handy. Shaping these would be a breeze with this little beast. Plus it would be cool to have for all around projects and honey do’s. Thank you toolguyd:) Thankyou Milwaukee!
Adam
Already use the hackzall for roots & small limbs that need removal, but lacking that in-between with the full size chainsaw.
Ari_k_NY
We just moved into a home surrounded by woods and we would use them to prune branches blocking the amazing view. Plus my son wants a sawzall.
Ravi Varma
Would use it for pruning around the new house. Only using m12 for everything
Randy S
I’m a service plumber, and I use the m18 hackzall all the time. The smaller version would be great for under sinks. The hatchet would probably be used on those pesky shrubs people like to put right on top of whatever needs repaired.
Justin Richard
I would use either of these as part of an ongoing effort to reduce corded and gas powered tool use and replacing them with cordless options. Environmental impact is a motivator for me as well as the convenience of not having to deal with cords.
I am a Maintenance Director for a non-profit with 20 homes for people with intellectual disabilities, so these would also be used to benefit people we support in living independent lives in our homes.
MNJason
I actually have M12 pruning chainsaw at home and it is an incredible tool. It is light, easy to use, and incredibly convenient. I processed an entire downed pine tree about 30 feet tall with this tool and was even able to make a bench for my firepit out of the trunk with this.
I would use these tools in a similar manner at my cabin, where my older teenagers could help and I would feel more comfortable with them using these tools instead of a larger gas powered chainsaw or manual splitting ax.
For me, the M12 pruning chainsaw is all about increased safety with limited loss of functionality or effectiveness.
Shane
I recently purchased a home with a heavily treed yard and both of these have been on my want list. I’ve been surprised at how often I’ve wanted something between a full-size chainsaw and some hand tool or my knee.
Hunter Gray
I’d use it to help clean up my neighborhood and gather some firewood for my family to use.
Alexis Rogers
I’d use the Hatchet for pruning our trees, and use the Hackzall for various renovation tasks around my house, my dad’s house, and my daughter’s house.
Jacob M
I’d love to try the chainsaw because who doesn’t want a miniature chainsaw? I’ve always been impressed with the pruning performance of my Hackzall so I’d love to compare the two.
Parke
I would use them for cleaning up around the yard and replacing some older sink drains.
Stacey Jones
I’d use these to hack dead trees and prune branches. I’d also use these as an excuse to buy into the Milwaukee platform!😂😂😂
Deek619
These would be perfect to keep my magnolia trees in check!
Mutombo
I would use them to trim and prune the 10 giant oleanders that form a privacy wall with my back neighbors. My current tools are long reach hedgers and that makes close range work almost impossible. This would also help get my feet wet in the 12v system and allow me to justify the ratchets.
MGardeners
We both garden daily and work with UC Master Gardeners which oversees 9 public gardens in Ventura County. Both of these tools would be used by over 100 master gardening volunteers of all ages. Thank you and Milwaukee Tools…fingers crossed
Callum
I’m curious how they’d work in reality. They look useful!
Tim B.
I’d love to use the hatchet for around the house pruning… My property isn’t big, but after wind storms hit, I often find myself on a ladder precariously wielding not-quite-good-enough tools for the job to deal with broken branches from large trees which have fallen on structures or about the property.. this looks like the perfect tool for the job!
The hackzall, I have a very first generation one, and it has served me well for many years… have often wondered if it was worth it to upgrade to the Fuel version. I have in fact tried to use it for the aforementioned yard pruning, where it really does NOT do particularly well, even with a pruning blade!
rmkilc
I would use these around the house for pruning and woodworking.
Matt Miller
I’d like to use this on the community trees.
blk
I would use these to prune our yard as well as help maintain the property of our elderly neighbors.
ChrisH
I would love the hatchet, since one-handing a full size reciprocating saw is awful hard on the wrists
VJ1776
I would use them to prune the 15ft weed “plant” or “tree” that is infesting the right side of my house. Looking forward to checking these tools out. And thanks for hosting this giveaway.
Mike C
I have three huge Norway maples in my backyard that shed limbs in every storm. That little chainsaw would bridge the gap between my 18 inch saw and handsaws for most limbs that fall.
The hackzall would complete my basic M12 tool set. I do a ton of DIY work around my house and handyman work for relatives – the corded sawzall is a pain to lug around for small plumbing and repair jobs.
mmatthews101
I would love to try out Milwaukee as I have been debating beginning my collection since I am so heavily invested in the orange brand, but want to begin with Red!
BradWH
Legitimately would be giving these to my dad. He is 73 years old and doesnt have any real hobbies. He just enjoys taking care of the dogs, cleaning, and trimming the various plants and trees around the house. These would be great to take the edge of using hand tools or heavier equipment.
Clayton
They both look like they would be handy.
Chain saw : Pruning branches at the property
Hacksaw: looks like it would be good for remodeling work
Dave J
These would make the job of pruning and trimming much easier!
Sean
Both tools look amazing! I’d definitely make use of them around the house. Right now, the best option I have for cutting larger branches is a folding saw. It works, but boy do I get a workout. I would love to use the sawjall as a hacksaw replacement. I use a hacksaw for cutting pipes to length. This would greatly improve my workflow.
Matthew Gray
I’d use them for pruning and in the woods for clearing branches etc around the tree stand.
OldDominionDIYer
Boy I sure could use these! My church purchased a little over one and a half acres but it has been unkept for years! our plan is to cut back all the encroaching shrubs and tree limbs to be able to maximize the land use for our church and community events and activities! Send it my way and we’ll put to use right away!
David Hipp
Would use these M12 tools for cutting up small branches and limbs for chiminea
Mac
I’d use them on my property clearing brush and when volunteering keeping our trails open in our surrounding national forests.
EverettS
I would clear mountain bike trails as well as break down firewood for this upcoming La Nina winter!
Jeremy Friel
I would use it to trim back limbs from the cabin I live in. Having been born with one hand, a single handed saw would be super helpful for cutting
Jeffrey Miller
Been wanting to re-create that one scene from Scarface.
David N.
A whole bunch of brush clearing in my back Acre!
Mikeee
It would be a great addition to my DIY tools. At the moment I don’t have any Milwaukee tools
Randy N.
Just moved to a place with no shortage of trimming needs and a wood stove for warmth. Could easily put this to use!
Tom P
I would use these to carve nature trails through the woods in the back of my house. The hatchet would be amazing to have!
Chris
I’ve been wanting the pruning saw since it came out it would be great for trimming branches around the yard, and the hackzall would be nice to take to work for quick cuts in insulation and wood without having to drag out cord and find power
al
Both would be put to use on the constantly invasive Buckthorn growing in our neighborhood. Perfect combo of tools for the job that is too much for my M12 hackzall, but a chainsaw would be overkill.
Jim Felt
I’d donate both plus a new Milwaukee bag, several new 6 Ahr M12 batteries and a spare 12/18V Milwaukee charger I’ve already got to our local community gardener’s group.
With that they’d surely want the rest of the Milwaukee M18 yard tools as well…
Chris
I would love to try the M12 Hatchet and see how it supplements my M18 Chainsaw.
William Milinazzo
Every M12 tool that I have purchased has performed better than I expected. Either of these would be put to good use maintaining my property.
AC
I would use them to prune trees and cut small pipe and conduit at work and at home, they look like great tools.
aaron s
I actually would want these for a non-profit I work with. We are still recovering from a natural disaster and many folks need tree and brush removal. 16″ gas saws are scary for people who don’t have chainsaw experience, so these would be very popular loan tools for homeowners who don’t have their own saw.
Steve
I thought I would culture the joint up and reply with a haiku.
Milwaukee Tools rock.
I have a huge tool habit.
I need them so bad.
Tucker
Looks good for cleaning up brush in the yard
Adrian Jelenszky
I’d use them to prune pretty much everything in the backyard.
Michael Perry
I have an unruly backyard in need of some pruning.
Dave T
Would use it for cutting up the billion branches that fall in my yard each day. I’m not gonna lie, I also would totally use these for things which they were never intended because we all know these would be fun to play with.
teicher
I need lighter weight, more ergonomical tools because the 18V versions are often too big and heavy for me to use. The chainsaw would be awesome to take care of the limbs that fall in my wooded property, and I don’t have a sawzall so that would help with future demo projects. I’m also a M12 user now, so these could slide right into my existing collection.
bob
i have a need for both, to trim the numerous evergreens out in back. my 2 stroke chainsaw is kaput
Jerremy
They be great trimming branches around my house and they would save me allot of time also.
Adabhael
I help maintain several miles of trail, and I cannot believe how fast beech saplings grow. We presently abuse some loppers on 1-2 inch trunks, because getting out the bow saw is a pain. I feel like this prize would be a perfect portable duo for carrying along and trimming big and small.
conor
I use my 20V cordless reciprocating saw for both limbing small trees with a lee valley blade and for cutting up pipe and plate. It’d be nice to have either of these tools to be a lighter, dedicated tool for one of those jobs.
Mike
Wife says I don’t need a chainsaw so I cannot buy one. She never said I couldn’t win one!
Chris
They would be great for knocking down pallets to make pallet projects! I would totally use them for that!
Tim
I am in single-family property maintenance, and every property I work on has at least two trees in the backyard, with a few of them having four total trees. In Texas, we have alleys between the rows of homes, so our electrical, cable, and phone lines all run down the alley, and to the homes by running through the backyard. I have to keep the branches in check so the tenants do not lose power or internet access due to a fallen branch. This little tool would come in very handy, especially when I am on a ladder, because of the one-handed operation. A full size chainsaw is too cumbersome for a ladder, and a pole saw is too imprecise.
Julian Tracy
This would definitely come in handy cleaning up the yard before the snow falls. I have the much larger Makita 14” cordless saw, but the little Milwaukee looks sweet.
James
I would love to have these to help my mom and mother in law keep their trees and bushes under control. I would also use them when I go camping to make short work out of preparing wood for the campfire.
Allan
Perfect timing. I’d use these to clean up dead shrubs and suckers that are coming back on my trees that got burnt in the recent wildfires here out west. Thanks!
RD
Just tried out the M12 Rocket light as my first Milwaukee M12 tool, I’d start using their stuff in the yard for cleanup too!
Jeremy R
I love the size of the M12 drills and driver for the upkeep of my property. The hacksall or hatchet would really help with the exterior pruning projects.
Dan Z.
These tools would strengthen my marriage as my wife would now be safely equipped to join me in the privilege of tree and shrub trimming.
Kevin Sowell
I’d love to get the for my mom. She’s getting older and still wants to get out and do yard work. Having something small and battery powered would be great for her. No cords, no pull crank. She already uses my Dewalt weed eater and leaf blowers. I’ve got plenty of m12 tools and batteries so it’d be a perfect fit for my family.
RDS
These would be handy for pruning some of the unruly trees in our landscaping
Tom Hanlon
I have a lot of limbs to trim and several small trees to cut down on my 2-acre yard.
SaturnFire
The M12 Hacket would be a great addition for me while I am up the tree. The awesome part would be I can use my other m12 Batteries. I have a lot of Oaks to prune.
Kurt
I have a backyard full of gnarly evergreens that do their best to vex me after every winter storm. These tools appear to be wonderfully suited for some serious unvexing, and would replace my current corded electric chain saw and extension cord.
Brent
The M12 hatchet compact chainsaw has held my attention for some time for pruning work. Easy to climb with and handle. This would be perfect compliment to my M18 fuel chainsaw.
Tom
These would be great to tame an overgrown bamboo in my backyard.
Keith
My Wife said something about going Dexter and hiding bodys…..I always preached to her about using the right tools for the job
Gregg
I would give them to my younger brother who passion is gardening and also helps when his OCD acts up. Gardening is very therapeutic for him at times like this.
Uncle Ralph
We have a huge number of invasive species on our property that we have been systematically trying to remove. These would be a great help!
Benjamin K
I would use these tools primarily to venture into the hobby of carving mini ice sculptures. Just kidding… I would use them for gardening tasks and light DIY work around the house. 😉
Eric Sampson
Every winter the snow and ice downs many small trees along my road. The portability of these tools would make quick work of the cleanup which would be much appreciated in the cold weather.
Conrad
Both of these will be awesome on maintaining and working on my homestead, also will be great for prepping logs for milling for future projects, Ive borrowed the hatchet is epic!
Diego
I’d give the reciprocating saw to my brother since I already have one. Love it by the way.
The chainsaw would work perfectly for when I do excavation work around trees and bushes. Sometimes the roots are too thick to be efficient with a pruning blade and reciprocating saw.
Having the extra batteries would be nice to use with the rest of my M12 collection.
David
I would use it to trim the live oak trees in my back yard. Also I would let my Dad use it at his house to trim back some low hanging pecan branches.
Sam S.
My Paw-in-law keeps trying to use my Milwaukee chainsaw and pole saw. He’s 91 and still wants to trim branches, so this M12 set would be perfect for him. If Milwaukee needed someone to test tool durability….he would definitely be your man.
Jaime Barbosa
I’m a little constipated, so pruning might be just the thing. Just saying.
Shane
I’ve broken into the M12 lineup in the past year and love it. Can’t think of a more creative tool to have than the small chainsaw!
Scott K
We have a lot of 100’ oaks and have to do plenty of cleanup after every storm. This would be a nice supplement to the full sized chainsaw for smaller tasks. I’d also love a hackzall but house projects, but I haven’t been able to justify buying one yet. Awesome giveaway!
Addicted2Red
I would use the hatchet chainsaw to cut down 3 damn tree’s that constantly hit my house. Pruning the branches every few months is a pain.
MFC
I’d gift it to a friend who does a lot of tree pruning for properties and is getting into the M12 line. Either one would be helpful to him.
Joellikestools
I would use these to prune trees ar my brother’s cabin and the maples in our yard. The hackzall would be nice for cutting abs down at work.
Tony L
I would use them to trim and maintain my mom backyard garden
John
I’d like to enter! This looks great for trimming branches.
RI Guy
I would use the chainsaw to trim EPS from sips panels in a passive house I’m building.
MattW.
Just a contractor but I’d like it to trim branches that hang low on customers places. Extended tall 350hd transit my roof looks horrible. Only good thing about it is workers can’t go through fast food places! I own a m12 surge and I’d love another use for my 6amp hour batteries.
RageStuff
Well the wife has been wanting the hackzall after seeing that thing in action!!
Joatman
The Hatchet for pruning, trimming and chopping up fallen dead branches. But can’t wait to use it for cutting up my smoking wood ( cherry, apple, hickory…etc) into smaller chunks. Even looking forward to the saw dust for using in my mesh stainless smoking tube.
The Hackzall would be put to use in countless applications. I really like the compact size more than my full size saw.
BeckerWrecker
My husband has been waiting the hackzall after watching me use one
Clayton
I’d use it to prune the branches and clear some of the bushes in my backyard so that I can build a fence.
AC
Really need one of these and have been torn between them. To many times I’m killer my shoulders and my loppers trying to muscle through something too big. Either of these would be the ticket!
Travis
I would like to win this pack so that I could dual wield Hatchet Chainsaws ( I already have one and love it!) in the event of a zombie apocalypse. The Hackzall would work in the event emergency egress through walls or locked cars was required.
King duck
I want to win these because I never won anything from Milwaukee I would give these to my wife so she can prune her garden easier
CeeNoo
I would prune my peach tree with both of these
Michael Morton
Although well invested in the Fuel lineup, I do not have either of these tools. I have a lot of old growth in my yard and often get large limbs that blow dow especially this time of year. I usually use my Milwaukee saws all with a pruning blade to cut them up, but it seems like the Hatchet would be a better match for the job.
The one handed convenience of the Hacksall would come in handy for lots of cutting tasks, both on the job and around the house. Cutting PVC pipe, conduit, and threaded rod come immediately to mind.
Craig J
I was part of the giveaway for the free kneepads. Prizes got changed and I chose the hard hat and gloves for limb cutting. Got my hard hat and gloves and went to the garage to get my chainsaw and remembered…I don’t own a chainsaw. I live in a wooded neighborhood and a lot of our trees are dying and falling. I want to get to them before they fall
WAUKEE
First i would like to say from the first time i used the new drill/driver instantly the quality and power of tool was apparent. About 3 months later of daily use as an electrician i met the Green Giant Pylon. A 2 ft. Diameter marine pylon attached to a saltwater dock/boathouse. Looking at the Small red drill with a 18″ 1 1/8″ Auger bit sticking out of its jaws looking awkwardly misproportioned then the massive green pylon. I asked CAN YOU DO IT. Proceeding to drill thru the massive pylon, wood chips flying. Thats when we hit the hidden carriage bolt spinning us 180 degrees pinning the drill against the boat house with such force the battery portion of the drill twisted out of line over 45 degrees pinching the trigger in the fully depressed position. The drill was jammed in the on position, Quicky calling a co worker to assist me we wrnched the drill off the strucure and pulled the battery and unscrewed the chuck freeing the drill. Slipped the battery back in reattached the drill and dislodged the auger. Slighlty Readjusting position i bored the auger back into the hole sliglty deviating to pass by the edge of the carriage bolt. After nearly tearing off the handle the drill carried on like nothing happened. Milwaukee Tools sold me for life in that moment. Playing a major role in my daily life, from home to work MILWAUKEE RED flows through my veins. When theres a task i know milwaukee has my back. When i think of the hatchet my mind goes into overdrive thinking of how great it would be for a variety of different applications. From easily and quickly cutting thru 2x lumber on the job to the perfect tool for the wife to use around the yard. The hatchet, a life changing tool that would make a great addition to the arsenal!
Dimon
My family have an orchard with more then 30 apple trees and pear trees. This would be very handy to pruning. And this will help us to get a good harvest an make more greatest cider)
Michner
I would use them on my ranch and property restoration business
Dustin Hollis
Every year in the fall the guys in my church group get together and cut firewood into logs for later splitting up in the mountains, haul into trucks and trailers, and then haul it down the mountain. This is primarily for the widows who can’t do this themselves, though some is to supplement our own needs too. Some of the guys just love to split and stack firewood. My back doesn’t love it so much after. Tylenol to the rescue! In any case, I don’t own a chainsaw, but it would be nice to de-limb and break down stuff instead of just hauling log sections. Later we spend another day splitting the logs. Some of the logs are wierdly shaped (which makes it hard to split) so something I can use to break those down would be awesome!
James Davis
I recently started to update my M12 collection with newer models. I live in a neighborhood with an alley behind my house. My wife and I must take care of city property ( the alley ) because our city gave up. I really wish it wasn’t our responsibility, but, it is up to us so that we do not scratch our vehicles. It also is a matter of pride for us.
Frank
I’m in the landscape and irrigation field. The pruning saw would help for cutting smaller branches in tight spaces and I have been wanting to pick up a Milwaukee hacksaw because it helps with pruning roots during irrigation repairs and also helps with cutting larger diameter pvc pipe.
Neal
I’d like to win it for two reasons, first that it’s really cool and I don’t have anything like it, and second that all my tools are another brand and I need a gateway tool to Milwaukee because I’m increasingly dissatisfied with my current brand’s roadmap.
James
I’d go Christmas tree shopping with a new Hackzall.
Robert
I would use them to trim branches and to cut would in replacement of a sawzall when I get the chance. Trim the whole yard !!! I’m going to make bonsai trees out of everything!
John P
Just bought a place in the mountains and moving from the city I need tools like this to clear trees and debris. Didn’t have much use for them where I lived before. Either of these tools would be a great help cleaning up the place.
Craig
I scavenge small firewood/kindling from local parks and fallen tree branches. Often this stuff falls into the “too big to break with knee/too small for chainsaw/too lazy for hand saw” category. This would be perfect and portable for this.
Matthew
I would love to have a hatchet because I gave one to my father in law and it has been very handy for cutting small trees and limbs and is very capable. Having a small chainsaw this capable is almost all I need for regular suburban homeowner use, and cuts above it’s weight!
itsgalf
The M12 Fuel Hatchet is on my wishlist. I would use them just like everyone else in making quick work of trimming branches or prepping fallen branches for yard pick-up.
The M12 Fuel Reciprocating Saw would actually be used for work. It’s a great tool to have on hand for special situations working apartment maintenance. Either cutting toilet closet bolts or quick plumbing work. Currently I use a larger 24V reciprocating saw, but even that can have a hard time fitting under sinks or other tight spaces.
A W
I got into Milwaukee because of the versatility of the hackzall tool, and have been eyeing the Fuel upgrade since it came out. The greater speed and instant stopping ability would both be appreciated. With the hatchet, I would use it around the yard and/or on camping trips.
Paul C
I’d use the saw at least for cutting EPDM (Driscoll) pipe as it’s lighter than a gas saw.
Greg
Perfect for keeping in the truck for trimming at the job site or the hunting lease.
Chris
I have a yard full on of trees that need pruning and I have been eyeing these exact tools for the job.
Albert Magyar
I would use the Hackzall for heavy pruning in my yard and for metal-cutting tasks in the shop. I would use the Hatchet to cut downed branches into manageable rounds, and I’d like to see how useful it would be for making firewood.
John_j
These would be great! I could really use that chainsaw for some pruning that really needs to be done. And that recip saw would make some projects around the house, I need to get done, way easier!
Josh Anderson
I love the capabilities of the M12 line, and these would be a welcome addition to my lineup. I would use them in my handyman business, especially the Hatchet—a compact chainsaw would be handy for fence work and pruning. It would also come in handy for working the fence line on the family farm.
Thanks for the opportunity!!
Brandon
We would use them for cutting up firewood for our tinyhome cross country winter adventures. They are perfect size for my wife to use also, and I’m already on the milwakee m12 platform so they would fit in perfect for handy man side work I find throughout our travels😁
Michael Polk
Currently use gas saws for tree removal but would be interesting to see how convenient this would be for cutting down branches!
Dale Ianni
I am building a life-sized elf house into a 10 foot tree trunk left from a tree we had to have taken down. I plan to cut in windows, a doorway, etc. The pruning saw would be perfect for this, especially when I’m up on the ladder. The hackzall I would use in building of minibike and drift trike frames. I love Milwaukee products. I have many M12 products and they are the best!
Nolan B
I would give it to my mother-in-law as a gift. Her fruit trees are out of control.
Michael Harpe
I will be able to trim my trees and clean up the limbs around my roof line.
Also, I have all Dewalt tools and might need convincing to switch over 😉
b. price
I already have the Hackzall and could really use the Hatchet to prune several apple and peach trees. I have several M12 and M18 products and they never let me down.
Ed Sichler
These two M2 tools would be outstanding additions to my current selection. The chainsaw becomes the go to for firewood for the backyard firepit. Lots of the wood here needs to be cut in half of thirds for better fit in the pit. Once that is done will take it and some extra batteries down to my daughter’s AirBnB home and cut up lots of felled trees in the adjoining lot for their backyard firepit. The Hackzall comes along as well for some DIY projects that it would be perfect for.
avi
my parents have a few small trees and bushes, nothing that warrants full scale landscaping equipment but these would be perfect for routine maintenance.
Dave
I have a ton of new landscaping that this would come in handy maintaining
Brandon E
These would be great for 99% of the trimming I have to do on my small lot. Currently I have to drag out the gas chainsaw.
Adam
I’ve got a whole overgrown section of woods that I’d like to clean up. The hatchet would be a huge help.
Neil
Even though I live in a townhouse-style condo, my lawn guys leave much to be desired, so these tools will allow me to do the little things regarding pruning that they don’t ever seem to get to.
Popgun42
Last winter we had a hard freeze. My Ash tree in my front yard lost some limbs, The center of the tree has come back but a lot of the outer limbs not making it. I am going to have to prune some outer limbs. Been looking at this saw along with some others. I have several M12 tools and some batteries. It would be a good fit…
Bill Legge
I would use them to help clean up my backyard.
Rock Hound
I bought a couple acres of woods in New Hampshire that has been mismanaged, I would use these to cut up and clear out some of the scrubby trees and invasives.
JasonLin
I have a Bosch 12v pruning shears bought from amazon UK, it works very well for pruning small shrubs, but not powerful enough for the Forsythia and Japanese maple trees in the yard. Hopefully the Hatchet Compact Chainsaw or Hackzall can do the trimming job so I don’t need to take out pole saw every year.
Mitchell A.
I would love to have the hackzall for my job on electrical. I have the full size sawzall but sometimes it’s just nice to have the smaller tool. Especially when working up high, on a ladder or in a lift when one hand is needed to make a cut on some conduit or just because its more compact and easier to take around.
I would use the hatchet compact chainsaw to cut up tinder and firewood. I try to primarily heat my home or at least supplement my furnace with our wood burning stove throughout the winter. Sometimes a compact quick cut to make a piece fit in the stove is needed and I would much rather use this than an axe, maul, or the full size chainsaw, especially when it’s cold outside.
Dakota Starr
I’ve eyed this for a while and want to invest in a 12v system at some point. Current 18v system is Dewalt because I got a heck of a deal on it. My brother loves Milwaukee and I would love to make it my 12v system. The trees in my yard drop tons of branches throughout the year, so these would be an awesome addition to cut up small diameter branches for kindling throughout the year that are difficult to cut with my two handed Dewalt Recip saw. These would also be helpful for clearing brush in the drainage easement behind the house and trimming the small trees around the place.
Kevin K Heiden
Id like to see if Milwaukee is thebrand to go with.. ive always used corded tools but it would be nice to see what cordless tools to go with before i buy an entire set
Sam
Yes I’ll take one! Need to cut a tree down.
Jeff
Lately I have been working with a portable sawmill and having the ability to quickly cut small limbs and trim freshly cut hardwoods when needed without having to start and restart a gas chainsaw would be a timesaver and allot safer.
Joe L
I would use them for normal tasks where there might not be room to maneuver a full sized tool or where holding a full sized tool above your head can be tiring.
VindalooDiesel
I’m already on the M12 system but don’t have either of these. We have a half acre wooded kit with regular branch falls and some fruit trees that need regular pruning.
The hackzall would be awesome for our upcoming down to studs Reno of bathroom and kitchen
Rob
I’m responsible for all low hanging limbs on the property at work. I mostly use a full size cordless recip saw.
MarkC
I have been using my reciprocal saw for trimming trees. This m12 would make my job 10x easier.
Russ Becker
I had a Tornado come through the center of my Farm and these would be the perfect compliment to my Full size Milwaukee Chainsaw I’ve been using for needed clean up
atomic
These would be great for triming various fruit trees we have, and maybe even firewood if doing some glamping.
Etienne
Put it to good use on the many trees in our backyard.
Sanjay Nasta
Couple of acres of yard to keep tidy
Iron-iceberg
I have the long saw and it’s too long for trimming branches off fallen trees. This will be perfect!
David deray
I have a tree in my backyard that I haven’t done anything with because I only have one so haven’t justified the cost of buying tools to prune. Would he great for that. I would also be interested in seeing if the chain saw would end up going with me for demo and cutting down stock lumber quickly
Kphee92
I would use these to clear brusdha and saplings in my backyard. I already own a few Milwaukee M12 tools so they would be a nice addition to the collection.
Aaron
I would prune trees in the yard and prep firewood.
Cory
I would use them to keep up with all the pines on my land
Lonnie
For the hatchet chainsaw I’d be able to use around the family farm and then take into the hunting woods during work weekends which would speed up triming food plots while not taking such a toll on my body lugging around bigger saw, on the other hand the hacksaw would benefit the hunting woods plus I can use on job sites to cut holes in drywall or help remove old plaster board safer than a traditional 2 hand saw
Shawn Behnam
I just bought a house and planning on clearing out the backyard in the spring. I have been eyeing the hatchet for a while now and would be incredibly grateful if I won. Just bought an M12 driver kit also.
DaveZ
Just got the Pole Saw, which I love, but the Hatchet would be much for the close up work of cutting up the branches once they are on the ground!
Craig T
This would be great for cutting up wood for my outdoor pizza oven and general tree trimming.
Dominic L
The hatchet, I can use on some small palm trees that have strong fronds to cut. The hackzall, I will give to a local construction person who had their tools stolen recently.
Tom D
Id use them for smaller branches. The m18 chainsaw works great but it’s a bit big for a lot of things.
Jbongo
I’ve got lots of trees and some of them need a good triming!
Dale
I’d use them clearing over grown areas of my property. Maybe turn the hackzall over to the wife since she needs something lighter and lass aggressive than my saws all.
Kevin
Prune small branches around the house.
Cole
This tool looks awesome. I’ve been very happy with m18 and m12 tools. I’d use this saw around the yard and on HVAC calls with overgrown brush, and maybe to cut open cardboard boxes! LoL
Ronny
I’ve used the M12 Fuel Hackzall so I know how useful it is around the house. I don’t own a Hatchet but it would be perfect for trimming the trees and bushes around our property. We live in the woods!
Jeffrey McMillen
I would definitely like to try these out the Hatchet Saw would be perfect for the small trees in my back yard the Sawsall well who couldn’t use one. Considering I’m getting ready to my first M12 and M12 tools next week these would be a great addition.
John Sewell
Having recently lost all of my battery powered outdoor power equipment in a fire, I would greatly appreciate being able to start my collection with a battery system that I already have. Either saw would be very handy for a multitude of small tasks around the house.
Daniel Lawson
I would use them for clearing those weeds that turned into trees over the summer. I dont own a real chainsaw and the small would be great to get in around the fence and shed areas.
Laurence V
Would be great for those spring cleanup projects after this winter!
Mikey G
I used Milwaukee m18 tools (chainsaw and hacksaw) to work in backyard a lot and I would like to use light tools and at same time I would like to expand m12 tools, that would be awesome.
Ted
I would want to win these because they would be very convenient to use over getting out the chainsaw just to do some trimming and cleanup!
Rafael R
I would like to win the Milwaukee M12 FUEL Hatchet chainsaw and Hackzall reciprocating saw because it would be a nice addition and help when removing small limbs and palm branches.
Ryan
I would use it for cutting up camp fire wood when camping and trimming limbs around the yard
John Orr
I would love to clean up the yard and around work with this little saw! I hear they’re pretty awesome.
Phil M
I want to win because these would both be really handy to have. The Hatchet would be great for pruning, especially overhead because it’s light and maneuverable. The Hackzall would be great for cutting out roots, and a whole host of other tasks in both the back yard and garage.
JoeH
Use it to trim trees in the back 40
Devon Riesberg
Both would be handy in maintaining my new acreage!
Don M.
These would be great for minor yard cleanup and tree maintenance without getting out the full size chain saw!
Tonya Lillie
I would use them for trimming our curly willow tree in the backyard. It grows so fast it needs pruning every single year!
Mike G
I would use them for trimming the way too many trees on my property.
David VandeBerg
I want one of these, but I already bought a Bosch cordless sawzall and a pruning blade.
EB
I’d use both for a 1910 remodel. Old growth timber would be a good test in durability.
Kevin K
I would use them to clear out an area in my yard to build my son a tree fort this coming spring. Would come in very handy.
Patrick E Thompson
Either of these tools would make safer and quicker work of taking the smaller sections of branches that I use in my woodworking. For tapered furniture legs, spindles, stiles, and stretchers etc., they’d be a great time saver too, while giving my arms a break from the repetitive motions of hand sawing, which at the age of 68, is a big plus. Can’t believe I don’t already have one of these in my life!
Aaron
I’d use it cut up branches and trees that come down during storms
Bryan
Looks like both would be great tools for the grounds and maintenance work we do at our congregation. Would be nice tools in the arsenal, especially that they’re cordless!
Richard P
My wife has been asking me to let her use my gas chainsaw and I always say no because I’m afraid she will hurt herself. This 12 volt pruning saw looks like something that would be more manageable for her and would relieve some anxiety on my part. The hacksaw would come in handy in my construction job.
Eric
I’d gift this to my wife’s boyfriend so he could help me with yardwork.
Ed Schmitt
I just purchased my first home, I have a great deal of old pine trees that I would love to have something like this to trim with. Both options are light weight and would allow me to easily trim while on a ladder.
JMG
I would use the tools to clean up some of the garbage my neighbor keeps dumping against my fence line… As others have mentioned, these would be a good starting point for m12 tools, as I have yet to invest in the platform myself.
JasonT
I have a large tree that I have to climb to prune. These would work perfect.
Craig Wilson
I’d use the MIlwaukee Fuel Hatchet to help my wife when her vines and trees get out of hand. Right now we struggle when that time comes. I’d use the Hackzall in tight situations when I need control but power.
Craig
Our house sits on an acre with about 40 trees. Even a small storm means lots of cleanup. The Hatchet would make for quick tasks when i don’t feel like getting out the chain saw. I’d be interested in trying the Hackzall in place of loppers
Bob Lawrence
My father bought the M18 chainsaw a year ago. He has since been fighting illness and lost a good amount of weight and strength. I think the M12 would be much more manageable for him to use cutting smaller branches and logs for his bonfires.
Alexander B
I love Milwaukee tools and i deff dont have a big enough yard to justify this purchase however it would help me immensely when i do trim around. can also be used at work. thanks for the opportunity as always!
YJ
Prune some overdue trees around the property.
Dave the tool
I have the Milwaukee M12 fuel Hackzall however I haven’t used it enough to comment. Currently the saw is being fixed by Milwaukee under warranty as the Chuck is not opening to allow the blade to be removed. Disappointed with Milwaukee regarding this as the saw is nearly new.
With that said the Chainsaw looks neat. It’s not the fact of needing one but more the fact of not having one and then having a need for it.
Jeremy Pryor
My mother of 60 just got her first chance to purchase a house. The property is in very poor shape. I have been using my Milwaukee chainsaw, blower, and weed trimmer to help her out. I would use these on the property with her and let her help. She cannot use the full size saw, but she will be able to use the hatchet!
Timothy Bowers
One word: Cottonwoods.
Dust
Part of me is weary about the mini chainsaw, but having used my 12”dewalt to prune my massive Carob tree before I can see it’s utility.
Sawzalls and the like can chatter around on a cut and can be quite dangerous on a ladder or in a tree. I’d love to try too incorporate it into this years annual battle.
Dan
Winning this would be the story you could tell every time you pulled them out to use…There would be two uses, one for around the farm. The second being farmed out to family or a neighbor…
Munklepunk
Yard cleanup. Or give it to a friend.
schill
The hatchet would have come in handy recently removing some large bushes/small trees. There will probably be more. And the hackzall would probably help remove the roots that are still there (and going everywhere).
And they’d be a nice addition to my M12 Surge and Rocket.
CountyCork
We have a tree in our front window that is now blocking nearly our intire view of our front yard. These tools would be used this winter to cut that tree back by about 1/3rd. I’ve been using a trimmer for the top which great for shaping but it’s just at the point it needs to have a major pruning.
Mr. dXe
Both of these tools I think, could join the ranks of tools that I picked up on a whim but now wonder how I ever lived without them. As a DIY guy in a rural neighborhood I have found myself substituting my corded sawzall for wind storm cleanup more often than I would like to admit. Having the freedom of cordless in both a reciprocating saw and a mini chainsaw will definitely increase my Saturday productivity.
Crispian
I would use this to scare trespassers!
Jonathan
I enjoy all the m12 line of tools. Have yet to have tried the hatchet or fuel hackzall. Love to come up with a y excuse to bust em out to demo something
David T.
The compact chainsaw is a good fit for my regular large tree branches trimming while the hackzall is perfect for doing one hand demo work.
Sean
I have a small yard and usually only need to trim branches and clean up debris. Don’t need a giant Stihl for that
Chainsee
I need a chainsaw to re-enact the Simpsons episode where Homer bursts into Bart’s late at night to show him his new chainsaw and hockey mask. Though, as this would require winning a hockey mask promotion, I’ll probably just use them for the relatively small trimming of trees common in residential life. Would also be handy to saw smoke wood to length. Will also come in handy if I ever take up chainsaw carving.
Andrew L
We live on 1.5 acres with lots of trees and brush. I’d use it to help maintain our property in a more efficient way. Thank you for all you do Stuart
NickKato
I would them to finally trim up the pile of fallen branches that’s been accumulating next to my garage.
Ralph V
I’d use it for camping and light timber work.
Joseph
I’d love to put the Hatchet to use around the house (I’d actually do some pruning if I had this) and in the woods when clearing or limping for gathering firewood. The Hackzall is a great tool and would be great for a gift!
Matt the Hoople
The Hatchet would go hunting/camping with me and be used for clearing trails and shooting lanes and for cutting downed branches into smaller lengths for firewood. The Hackzall would be used for around the house tasks where the ability to use one handed would come in handy. It would also serve as a safer pruning tool for use by other family members.
Garrett
To help clean out the wooded area of my backyard!
Hobmeister
I want to make short work of shrub and tree branches.
Rob H
I would use them to help clean up my mom’s property. She has a number of trees that need some attention.
J.J. Monteiro
I would use these on all of the trees and shrubs I have that need pruning.
Saman P Perera
Backyard overgrown. Will be put to good use.
Aaron H.
I have the chainsaw and it is awesome. One of these would be great for smaller jobs!
SethA
Take control of the unruly Mesquite in the front yard.
Jason Letanosky
I’d use them to trim off branches from logs before cutting them on the sawmill
Albert D
I am moving from the city to the country in a few weeks and these tools are exactly what I need to tame the land. I have plans to build a sauna and these would also be great for fire wood.
Andrew
I live in a city row home with a small backyard. These would be perfect size for maintaining my tree and other yard projects.
Travis D
I’ve got some treerows that could be liking a little trimming, helpful there
RockyDog
Would be a great replacement to my hand saw for cutting brush and small limbs for camp fires and the home fire pit.
Norm
Well so I would use the right tool for the right job.
Over the summer I unintentionally, cut up my hand with a brand new hedge trimmer (not on a hedge).
Ouch: https://imgur.com/Imk6dlq
I imagine it would get used mostly for smalling wood for the fire pit and generally clean up in the yard (mostly have woods on the property).
AustinM
Would be awesome to be able to use both to assist my dad with his yard and garage work.
Jesse
We primarily heat our house with wood in the winter, so I do a lot of cutting wood. Having a small saw like this would make cleaning up the trees of all the smaller stuff a lot easier.
There are a lot of times with home projects I would use the smaller Hacksaw vs grabbing a sawzall. I have a family member with the hacksaw and despite it’s small size it can do quite a bit.
Out of curiosity how does the M12 Hatchet compare to the Dewalt 20V chainsaw? Obviously the Dewalt is a bigger saw but have you used both and what is your opinion on them both?
A John
I would tame my overgrown shrubbery.
Gwiz
Just starting my M12 tool collection. I love them so far. I have a lot of branches to trim in my side yard.
Matt P.
Similar to so many comments posted before mine it’s about having the right tool for the job. I don’t have a small to mid-range cutting device, only a larger 20 year old chainsaw. Cutting tree branches for paths and stands and home maintenance would be amazing. Each and every comment on here seems to have the need, much like our family does. My wife and I recently purchased our first Milwaukee starter set (M18) after many of my Craftsman 19.2 tools are beginning to seize and batteries are hard to come by. This would be an awesome gift. Thank you for the opportunity!
Bjacob
Started my M12 collection a few months ago, these two tools will be a good addition to help with pruning the backyard trees.
The Dance
I’d use it clearing trees and building deer stands with my kids. Get them in the outdoors teaching them about tools and hunting!
GeekCatholic
Thank you for running this giveaway!
I’ve been using an EGO 16″ chainsaw to cut down a few diseased trees on our property. From what I’ve read, limbing the fallen tree is when injuries are most likely to occur, so that part makes me nervous. The shorter milwaukee pruning saw would be perfect for quick small cuts like that.
-Anthony
Jake
I would use it for processing firewood. Rather than logs we have 2 inch thick by 10 inch boards. I would use this to cut them to length that would fit in our woodstove.
Charlie
I would use these to trim up some brush on a property we recently purchased.
Adrian
Exactly as you suggested, I’d use this for storm cleanup at my house and my parents’ house. It would be a great addition to the M12 lineup I already have!
Pat
I would use them on my property for small trees and overgrowth. Would be great for cutting up smaller items for firewood also.
Pat
I could also use the reciprocating saw for automotive exhaust pipes and plumbing projects around the house.
Andrew
I would like to use it for trimming trees/bushes as well as small firewood processing when I gather downed branches. I usually pile them up and wait to pull out the big chainsaw. This would help me process them in a more timely manner and keep the yard looking great with less mess laying around.
Jerrick
I’d use it for pruning trees around my mother-in-law’s property.
Colin
The Hackzall will be living on my 4 wheeler and the Hatchet will be doing obvious tasks like being incorporated into an Evil Dead costume. The Hatchet may likely be donated to my retired-lineman uncle’s science project to make an electric pole saw with the conductive components only on the business end (think this on the end of a fiberglass pole with a non-conductive trigger system), if this already exists someone, please lend us a non-reciprocating hand.
Dennis Thurman
I would use the hatchet for yard work and possibly camping.the other saw
F
or rough carpentry. I have been wanting the hatchet…. I love Milwaukee tools!
Thank you for the opportunity to enter contest
Heath Hunt
I would use these for maintaining the 25+ trees on the lot of our newly purchased home.
Kevin C
Been eyeing the hatchet for a while now to manage the overgrown tree in the backyard.
Jackson Guo
Been using the OG M12 brushed hackzall to prune my trees when spring comes around. Having this Hatchet Chainsaw will make that job such a different experience.
Chris T
Be great for small jobs around the house and a time saver on camping trips especially for parks that dont allow any sort of combustible engines (paddle in areas like BWCA here in northern MN)
Corry Johnson
I would use the pruning chainsaw to clean up a large maple on my property, then try my hand at wood carving, maybe make a totem pole.
Dan
These would be great to prune the older trees in our orchard.
Jay Ritchie
I have some nuisance saplings I need to take care of.
James Goens
These would be a nice addition to my current stable of M12 Fuel tools. 2 acres of woods with lots of ongoing tree trimming. There’s a couple of spots in my Packout setup for these tools!
Trog
I’d like to try either of these out in the construction field with rough-trimming of 2x material and sheet goods for electrical and low-voltage work. I’m sure I could find some trees to trim once I have them too.
John Bower
My wife and I would use this to maintain the ‘fig forest’ she planted during COVID lockdown!
jim m
Would use these in the yard and during construction tasks
d brichetto
This would great for trail maintenance. Easy to fit in backpak with other tools.
Mike
Need some more tools to build up the Milwaukee collection. Be nice to try the pruner around the neighborhood to help out.
JonL
I have plenty of old fence lines around ours and the neighbors property. Once I am done I would lend it to my mother in law since she is always wanting to try and keep the pines trees on her property cleaned up so she can mow close to them. It looks perfect for her needs.
Jeremiah Ducate
This combo would greatly help with trimming and pruning plus cutting up firewood. With this combo i may look into doing some volunteer trail maintenance as well.
Patrick
I have lots of trees and branches needing some trimming and lots to do. Love the other M12 in my collection, but this is on my list to get.
Lenny
This Summer we moved from an Ohio suburb to the woods of Northern Michigan. We have a small property with lots of trees. I have a full size chain saw for big work but both of these would be great for my wife and I to use where the big and heavy chain saw is overkill. I have a lot of the Milwaukee 12v tools and batteries but have not had a need for these where we moved from. My wife is 5’2″ and 60 years old. The small lightweight profile of these would be a great for us. Regardless of if we win or not. I hope Milwaukee continues with this platform. I am more than satisfied with their tools.
Seth Goodson
I would love to win them to use when building decks. So many times there are small trees or limbs and roots in the way when getting posts and beams set. Would be nice to be able to carefully trim up the limbs and not cause too much damage doing so. They are small and compact which would help getting down into the post holes and smaller areas. My wife would more easily be able to use the smaller profile tools as well. These would fit with my current Milwaukee tool battery platforms also.
Aaron Q
I would like to carve a totem pole.
Mike Cheung
Thanks for doing this!
I’d use the mini chainsaw around my commercial property to clear brush (lots of wild stuff growing out back) and the hackzall would come in handy doing demo / construction work in the warehouses.
Gary Greene
I’ve got trails to clear that are blocked with the low, dead branches of pine trees. This combo would make that light work.
Joseph Hall
I would love to win this combo because I just had surgery on my right arm/elbow and live on 20 acres in high country of Colorado. Our fire season is actually just starting, in fact we just had a fire in Estes Park yesterday. This would allow me to get out and still work on mitigation with my fiancé and I feel like I’m actually doing something instead of just sitting around.
The Collective VT
I spent a lot of time building mountain bike trails with a local chapter. As a volunteer, I bring my own tools but don’t have to purchase materials & consumables.
Either M12 tool would work great in this area, but the hatchet in particular would be wildly useful for trimming overgrowth and clearing out riding corridors.
928'er
Been avoiding Milwaukee because I didn’t want to add yet another battery system to my stash (Ryobi Tek4, Ryobi One Plus, Bosch 12 & 18v), but could find a lot of uses for these around the property. Gateway drug…
Forgot abut a whole slew of 12v Crafstman Nextec…
Nathan S
My dad retired to a property with some Locust trees to clear and manage and has a 16″ gas chainsaw that never seems to want to start. A couple years ago, I started him on the M12 system, so this would probably be perfect.
JamesR
I’m not in Milwaukee’s M18 platform, and I can’t think of a better way to get into it than with a free hacksaw/hatchet. My front bushes better watch out!
Stephen
These saws would be great for tackling all of the small debris and trees, bushes, etc. in my yard. I don’t always feel like firing up the gas chain saw to take care of small jobs.
jdd561
I’d use this to help my neighbors and mother in law keep up with their property maintenance. They don’t have the right tools, and often don’t have the manpower to keep their yards neat and clean – and something like this would make it much easier to pitch in and help them out!
Craig Wiener
This set would be perfect for me to trim all the trees and bushes on my property.
It would also be my first Milwaukee tools.
Anthony.H
Just moved to a new house. This would be extremely useful for yard work.
Gary
I am moving into a new home next month and could sure use the pruning saw to clean up the backyard and make it more accessible for my little one’s.
Roger Hughes
Big Milwaukee fan, this is a tool that would be very useful in my orchard and vineyard.
SaratogaJerry
Why would I want to win this? Are you kidding? 2 very, over-overgrown yards. I also have a plan to clear a two foot no-grow zone next to my exterior house walls – then move to the no-grow zone next to my fences!
Marko
I want to remove a bush with rather thick branches and the only gardening tool that I have got for this purpose are scissors.
Christopher
I would use them to break down small trees and branches
Gabe Garwick
I’d put them to use for the local historical society in cleaning up the overgrown shrubs, trees, and scrub around one of the historic sites I volunteer at.
Glenn Underwood
I would use these to prune some of the more than 100 trees in my yard. I have some of the M12 tools and have been impressed with them. Thank you for the opportunity to apply.
Alex Michael
Really want to try the chain or hacksaw for small branch trimming
Ryan O
Being disabled, the M12 series is a favorite due to it’s manageable size, yet impressive capabilities. As we spend most of our time in front of our fireplace during the winter, we need a steady supply of wood. This combo perfectly fulfills my need to prepare wood pieces of the right size for our fireplace, using a tool that would be safe and manageable within my limitations.
Rob Spanos
The m12 chainsaw seems perfect for light yard work and camping.
Jeff
These tools would be very helpful in keeping the forest in my yard trimmed and maintained with ease.
Eric H
I’d use the saws to prune the trees in my yard and to cut up the limbs that periodically fall during storms.
Brien
I’ve got 8 acres to maintain… these tools will go a long way.
Corey S
Would really like the pruner for winter limbs that come down across our trails.
JML
Having these two available for their makeovers will make my trees and bushes very happy.
Les
Already invested in M12 tools, these will come in handy for yard clean up.
Steve W
I’d like to use them to wrangle all the vegetation in the yard, as well as other construction/ demo/ maintenance tasks. The M12 tools I have and have used have all performed capably and the hatchet especially looks like a useful and fun tool. Thanks for the opportunity and all of your hard work Stuart!
DanB
I’d use it for cutting up deadfall for the weekly family social time around the firepit.
Devin
After owning a landscape and property management company for many years, my own yard has been neglected and would use this to begin the reinvigoration process. Have been a yellow & black user, but so jealous of the Milwaukee FUEL Hatchet
Bernardo Castro
Would come in really handy for the dead tree in my backyard
Brandon Stafford
I would love to win these because I already have the M12 Heated Jacket and an M12 Power Ratchet, along with a drill and impact driver bundle. These would make a nice addition to my growing M12 collection, not to mention the usefulness of having these for the upcoming winter season.
Michael L
I would use them for lawn maintenance and my dad would use them in the summer to help maintain his range at a Boy Scout camp in the great state of NJ during the summers.
Sergey Musatkin
I would use the hackzall for camping for firewood and I would give my dad the saw, I feel like it would be safer to use the saw than pruning shears on a ladder which he currently uses
Partymarty
I would like to win this to increase my tool set. I would use this to maintain my bushes.
Brandobob
I want the hackzall for removing tile grout. I have a sawzall and a diamond grout blade but its a bit bulky after a while. I think the hackzall might be better and I think there are some brush attachments that might make cleaning easier like getting rid of mud dobber nests on stucco.
Howard Moskowitz
I would love to win this prize. I have so many low-hanging branches and shrubs – this would be an outstanding, easy-to-handle tool to help me trim everything and make it look so presentable.
Brian Sachs
Just started camping with my younger boys. Their favorite, of course, is hot dogs and s’mores over the fire. Hoping to make this a regular event for them.
Colt
I think they’d be great for climbing; I do field service and most of it is up in the air and nowhere near corded power… Something small and handy to carry up there would be a big help
