Over at CPO, they have a Milwaukee M18 CP 3.0Ah High Output battery 2-pack on sale for $80.
Wait, that doesn’t sound right, does it? This battery 2-pack, 48-11-1837, is currently $99 at other retailers. So why is this 2-pack $80?

You know what? I don’t think it matters. CPO has a clearance label on the batteries, which also doesn’t make sense.
As a reminder, these M18 compact High Output batteries are said to provide class-higher power, which means it should provide the power of a standard XC battery. It also provides more runtime than any of Milwaukee’s standard M18 compact batteries.
I thought that Home Depot’s $99 Black Friday special buy was a good value. $80 with free shipping? That’s even better. Can you see a catch?
Price: $80

It seems to me their marketing position is factory level rebuilt/reconditioned tools. Plus whatever else they can sell.
Could these be something of the sort?
Stuart
I don’t think so – their refurbished tools are usually clearly identified.
mike
The model # are not the same
48-11-1837
vs
48-11-1835
wat this mean?
mike
From looking around, Looks like the 35 is for single pack 37 is for double.
Maybe.
I ordered a set.
Thanks.
Stuart
Agreed.
fred
They cost $99 at MaxTool – but add something costing $1 and you can apply the $25 off coupon and pay $75 with free shipping for both items
Adam
I believe they have a replacement hook for tools that don’t work with the HO batteries, but on some tools the hook is s already works.
The battery is wider because it uses 21700 cells. You may not need it or want it, but it is a better battery compared to existing compact M18 batteries.
Adam
Meant to reply to Mark below
Mark
Comments over at Milwaukee say that the pack is wider than normal packs and will hit the belt clip on drills.

That’s a no-go for me.
Tom D
Compare it with the 1.5 Ah and yes, it’s clearly wider. I wonder if you complained if they’d send a new belt clip hmmmm.
AngryDrumGuy
Then you have to wonder if CPO put these on clearance to get rid of them since once word gets out, they likely won’t sell.
I don’t want to cancel my order order, but I have to agree if these really don’t fit, it’s a tremendous good on Milwaukee’s behalf.
This is similar to the M18 vacuum where the power switch is behind your hand, so you have to turn it on, then hold it backwards…
AngryDrumGuy
*tremendous goof.

If you send your drill and impact serial numbers to Milwaukee, they will send you replacement belt clips, no charge. Got mine a couple weeks ago.
Tom D
I’ve heard they’ll also replace any tool the 12 Ah won’t fit in, I should check all mine.
Jim Felt
That’s good to know. As I’ve only used them on my Leaf Blower.
Bosch replaced the battery attachment portion on my 18V saw when my then new Core Batteries wouldn’t fit. Took then maybe 10 days out and back. All free BTW.
Adam
They will, and they cover shipping both ways. When I sent in my 0880-20 lunchbox vac, they actually sent me a whole new unit (with the upgraded internal hose storage) instead.
Will
That’s what I heard but when I emailed them last month they only replied with the p/n for the new clip & gave me the # to call to order them. I didn’t send them serial numbers though & they did not ask for them.
On another note, I saw these for sale in store at HD the other day.
LG
Damn I wish they would finagle something like with 12ah That doesn’t fit in certain tools. Never actually saw what they do to make a 12ah fit, luckily my tools all accept the 12. But the belt hook is only needed about 1/3 of the time with the m18 but the m12 it would be tragic with no hook. Otherwise I load everything (2-3drills sometimes) in a box/bucket/roller chair to keep my pants not sagging off my 6’2 170lbs Ass (even on a tool belt the m18s weight becomes an annoyance)…in my particular trade that is

sold out
fred
Still available at Maxtool for $99 – but add something like a 48-32-4461 bit for $2 and get $25 off using code MAX25
AC
do they have free shipping?
fred
Free shipping over $49

If the deal sketches you out, Home Depot will price match it. Either over the phone and order it from HD online. Or what I did was go to the store and pulled up the deal on my phone. They honored it all said and done in about 1 minute.
CaveSAR
This is a deal only if you need the small battery packs for drills. For the lowest per Ah price Acme Tools has 20 Ah , 12 + 8 on a rebate, for $199.
M18™ REDLITHIUM™ HIGH OUTPUT™ HD 12.0Ah Battery Pack
I believe that ToolGuyD mentioned it a couple of days ago.
Bob
You’re not going to use a 12Ah battery on a drill. Not for very long at least. ay too heavy and bulky.
Tom D
Next from Milwaukee: The Drill Balloon, 100 cubic feet of helium to offset the weight of the 12 Ah battery.
Jim Felt
I’ve only used them on the Milwaukee Leaf Blower and at least in this one use the weight is actually a positive.
On the soldering iron not so much. ;-)~

So do these 3.0 AH batteries provide longer run time than the 5.0 I’m used to?
Stuart
No. They provide as much power as 10-cell XC batteries despite being 5-cell batteries.
They provide the same runtime as a 3.0Ah XC battery.
MarylandUSA
But with more oomph under a heavy load–slightly more oomph, in fact, than an XC5.0.
AC
Any idea if teh equal the oomph of the 6ah HO batteries? I wouldn’t think they could with fewer cells.
Stuart
6Ah HO has oomph of 9.0Ah HD.
AC
So 6ah HO has more power than 3ah HO?
Stuart
Yes.
This might help: https://toolguyd.com/milwaukee-m18-cordless-power-tool-battery-sizes-explained/
MarylandUSA
Since its cells are larger, yet more conservatively rated in capacity, the 10-cell 6.0AH HO has more oomph than the 15-cell 9.0. It even has slightly more oomph than the “capacity at any cost” 10-cell 8.0AH HO. The 6.0 HO is second only to the 12.0AH HO.
