Milwaukee has announced several new Packout storage products – different sizes of versatile stackable and latchable crates to meet a wide range of user needs and applications.
The new crates are fundamentally similar to the original open-top Packout crate that launched in 2019, featuring an open-top format.
There are 3 new sizes, 1 customized solution, and 1 new accessory.

Milwaukee Packout Low-Profile Crate (48-22-8438)

The new Packout low-profile crate is shorter than the original, and features quick-adjust dividers for customized organization. Or you can pull them out and just use it as a shorter bulk storage box.
As with the original Packout crate, this one has large cut-out side handles.
It can be stacked on top of compatible Packout products, and you can also latch other components on top.
Weight capacity: 50 lbs.

Milwaukee Packout Compact Crate (48-22-8437)

The Packout compact crate has a wide front opening for quick access, and can be stacked with other compatible system components – basically any Packout product with recesses on top for its cleats.
It has a metal-reinforced top handle for grab-and-go portability.
2 included dividers have score lines, allowing them to be cut for easy customization.
Weight capacity: 30 lbs.
Milwaukee Packout Wire-Pulling Crate (48-22-8043)

This wire-pulling crate is a customized version of the XL crate. It features a wide front opening for easy access to wire even when it’s stacked with other Packout tool boxes, organizers, and accessories.
Wire retention slots on the front help to keep individual wires organized and in place for easy access.
Conduit and wire are NOT included. The crate allows users to store and pull up to 6 spools of 500ft 12 gauge THHN wire.
Milwaukee Packout XL Crate (48-22-8439)

The XL crate is similar to the wire-pulling crate, but without the inserts for wire spools.
It can be stacked or hung – such as from wall panels – like the standard (now medium-sized?) Packout crate.
Weight capacity: 75 lbs.
Packout XL Crate Divider (48-22-8038)

Milwaukee also has an optional divider for the XL crate.

The divider separates the Packout XL crate into 2 compartments, and also features tool box attachment mounting locations.
This means you can add things like M18 battery mounts and tool holders, and still have some space for other tools and accessories.

Can the crates stacked and latched/locked with other crates directly, without any form of adaptors? If they can, how strong they stay together? There seem to be so little cleats compared to normal latching interface.

They’re quite strong, you can easily tip a stack over without it disconnecting.
I’d be hesitant to pick up more than two or three when stacked and fully loaded, but they’ll hold together.

That XL crate with the hole in the front looks pretty nice for a cheap but accessible middle-stack; it could hold a number of things you can grab through “the hole”.
