I stopped by Home Depot today, to see if they had any new tool deals to add to our Home Depot Black Friday 2020 Tool Deals roundup, and I remembered to check the tool box section.
I was looking to see if they were matching the $35 sale pricing of the Milwaukee Packout organizers, when I came across a new compact Packout organizer and saw blade accessory set.

Ooh. That’s new. Probably on sale for $80, right? That’s what my first thought was, since Milwaukee does have some pricey Packout and tool accessory combo bundle offerings.
$50.
I took a closer look.

You get 5 sizes of hole saws, an arbor, pilot drill bits, and 12 reciprocating saw blades in 3 styles.
I quickly did some math. The Milwaukee compact Packout organizer is usually $30, minus $6 for a new set of bins (it doesn’t come with any) for those that really want them. The Sawzall reciprocating saw blades are usually 5 for $13 for all three styles. So that’s roughly $31 in value for the 12 blades.
Milwaukee has a 9pc Hole Dozer set, with smaller sizes of hole saws than what you get here, for $30.
These look to be the new Hole Dozer hole saws, by the way.
So, you get the rough value of $85, for $50. Good deal.
Here’s everything you get:
- 5 Hole saw sizes
- 1-1/2″
- 2″
- 2-1/4″
- 2-1/2″
- 2-5/8″
- 7/16″ arbor and 2 pilot drill bits
- (4) 6″ 18 TPI metal-cutting Sawzall blade (5184)
- (4) 6″ 14 TPI metal-cutting Sawzall blade (5182)
- (4) 6″ 5 TPI wood with nails Sawzall blade (5035)
At the time of this posting, Home Depot is offering free shipping on this set. You can’t order it online for in-store pickup. You could try to find it at your local store, but not all stores might have. Skip the crowds and order it online.
Price: $50

Let’s see – you get ~$31 in Sawzall reciprocating saw blades, plus ~$30 in hole saws, although the value is probably a little higher due to the sizing compared to the set I used for reference pricing. That’s already $61.
There’s another Milwaukee 12pc Sawzall blade set with small case for $30. So, let’s drop the approximate replacement value of what you get in this bundle to $25.
Basically, this is a really good deal. You get good, sorry GREAT cutting accessories, and a Packout organizer.
You can either add some bins to the organizer to use for small parts, keep it with the included foam liner to organize the included accessories, or use it for tools or whatever else in the future. This is much better than a flimsy blowmolded case.
Who’s in for one?

What an outstanding deal. I’m in it just for the PackOut – The rest is just extra. I’m loving the PackOut combo deals. Makes it easy to get more.

Maybe I missed it in you prior posts but HD is also promoting a 20pc. reciprocation blade set for $39 – with a case – but unfortunately not a packout:

Thanks! I didn’t see that yet.
Sooo many deals.
My store wasn’t set up earlier this week, and another was only half done. Today my store was maybe 2/3 set up. I went to another, didn’t like how full and crowded the parking lot was, decided to wait – I’ll head on early on Monday or Tuesday.
That 20pc set looks to be a decent deal too.
There are also rebates that might be applicable for orders of at least $50: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/E-Rebates

Why did I learn about this new accessory from the rebate page?

This is an amazing upgrade and Milwaukee hasn’t promoted it at all – and I’m signed up for everything. They seem to really like to submarine announce things.

Kudos to Milwaukee for finally figuring out that when you have a storage system, you should package your tools in that system’s boxes. Don’t know what kept the rest of the industry from keying in for so long.

Sawblade set – don’t need, have a bunch.
Holesaws – don’t need, have a set.
Packout – don’t need, have many.
Combined? MUST BUY.
Why is this?

Welcome to the club. I had already bought one too. I have a hole saw set but I figured I can always use the box and this one at least has a nice insert so I don’t have to 3d print my own.

Same here. The companies that hire marketing people and how to present their products have a job because of me. I am totally like woooo I like the case/box/package look I think I need to buy that. I had this in my cart but talked myself out of it because I only need the case, I have everything else.
Stuart
If you have everything else, it’s only a matter until you need more. =P
That’s what I tell myself.

I think this is a great deal and I’m tempted to get it, but it’s a horribly inefficient way to store a few hole saws. This looks good on a store shelf to display what you get but there’s no way I would justify keeping these in the box longterm. So that foam (what kind of foam?) insert is probably junk to me. If you nest the saws together and throw them in a bag they would take up maybe 1/10th the space of this organizer (granted there’s room to fit other stuff in the box as well). Maybe it’s my own neuroses with organizing tools but I really struggle with using my packout boxes. If I were a tradesman it would probably be easier to put together boxes of similar tools.
Tom D
The ones I use the most are the organizers – having the similar types of fasteners in a box to grab is nice. But the tools never really have found a place in the other parts – a pile of tools is easier for me to find what I need.
Maybe my plumbing tools will find a home as they’re less used.

I have drawers in the van and mostly use the drawers for the smaller things, I really find it annoying to have to open up packout or other tool boxes to get things, especially if I haven’t put it in the one I thought it was in and need to open another.. sheesh how annoying. But I love the large size packouts. I keep a few Sanders and a ton of sand paper in one. Some power tools I only use for framing in another(power planer, beater router used only for window openings, etc..)
To each their own though I love that there are options and I do work with other guys who work out of trucks and really like packing everything into packout boxes and it works for them.

I’ve learned that carbide is the way to go.
Bi-metal just doesn’t make sense if you want it to last.
But if you only need a few cuts per year, it’s fine.
Stuart
Also depends on what you’re cutting. Wood? This’ll work just fine. Aluminum sheet metal? No problem. Harder or more abrasive materials? Carbide starts to look appealing.
For a set. I like bi-metal, since my needs change over time. I might upgrade commonly used sizes to carbide later, and that goes for other types of cutting blades and accessories as well.

I’ve been wanting this particular Packout. Was waiting until Xmas for a deal on Packout alone. I bought this right away. I go through quite a few sawzaw blades as it is. Hole saws not so much but it’s nice to have some on hand.

Looks like I missed out. I couldn’t find any in either of my local stores and it’s showing as unavailable online. You snooze you lose…
Stuart
I’d say check back – this might not have been intended for release before Black Friday.
Jonny
I’ve been checking daily online since I couldn’t find it in store when you posted. It says 8 on hand at all local stores on the item’s page, but at checkout it says 0 are available. I think these aren’t being released until black friday.
