Milwaukee Face Masks
There will be 2 new styles of face mask with 2- or 3-layer construction.
They’re all made with soft, breathable layers, and said to be designed for all-day jobsite wear. An anti-microbial treatment prevents odor-causing bacteria, and moisture wicking layers improve user comfort.
Ear loops are adjustable, and a flexible nose bridge improves the fit to a user’s face.
The 3-layer masks are structured to separate them from users’ mouths to make it easier to move (and presumably talk).

I like the idea of a structured face mask. I’d like to see a piece of metal in the nose bridge to help it seal around your nose and hold it’s shape. I wear glasses and in these covid times it drives me nuts that they fog up all the time when I wear a mask. I presume this might be a common problem in the trades as most are wearing safety glasses even if they don’t require prescription lenses.
I also think masks that have a strip of metal are often too thin. E.g. I wouldn’t mind if it took a little more force to bend the shape if I could get it to seal better.
JR3 Home Performance
I use a anti-fog treatment on glasses. It helps a little bit
Tom D
Cut a small hole on the bottom or otherwise provide a way for air to get out downward- then you’ll bot fog up as much.
Jim Felt
As I prefer US made masks which don’t offer good under-eye “fog” shielding for my glasses so here’s the solution I’ve found for making a nose “clamp” work. Cheap and tidy. Can’t be reused but who cares.

Umm… why is there an extra metal nose bridge clip in her HAIR?

@Stuart
Yes! That’s too funny.
But hey the Mona Lisa too.

You can also use those things like wire ties that come on coffee bags. Or just some aluminum wire. Stitch it in place. Takes 30 seconds.
Cutting a hole in the mask is, sorry to say it, a dick move.
RayRay
>>Cut a small hole on the bottom or otherwise provide a way for air to get out downward-then you’ll not fog up as much.
Cutting a hole in the mask greatly decreases any protection benefits the mask provides tobyouband those around you and defeats the purpose of wearing one.
OhioHead
Check out recycled firefighter, his use of metal in the nose/bridge area is well done (I guess 12 or 14 ga solid is used), makes a huge difference to prevent digging + glasses placement is critical.
Jared
Thanks for all the suggestions! I’ve got anti-fog and nose strips on the way. I’ll see how it goes.
Chris
Use Cat Crap anti-fog lens cleaner. it works better than anything else.
Tom D
They showed a clear all-around extension for the hard hat – almost like a sombrero. I can’t find a picture of it anywhere!
That_Guy
Two Questions…
1) The visor for the hardhat they did not make it clear if/what impact/safety ratings it has associated with it for example my Uvex bionic Meets ANSI Z87+ (High Impact) /CSA Z94.3 standard…
2) This might be worth a longer write up/article on the topic of helmets, I’m seeing more professionals wearing the fancy KASK Safety ones and even the super pricey Proto integral helmets…I also see that 3m has a line that has come to market. I understand that they are more comfortable to wear and that they have a longer “lifespan” in theory(wear&tear aside)…I can’t seem to get a solid answer about overall benefits vs protection trade off ..perhaps an article or interview with Milwaukee/others might shed some light on this.
Stuart
There aren’t any images or detailed info about the Bolt accessory expansion.
I would assume they’re rated for impact protection, but likely designed for use with secondary eye protection. Face shields aren’t often intended for use in place of eye protection, but in conjunction with them.
I’m interested in both the 6pt hard hat and the helmet design.
Helmet designs have come a long way in recent years, with advancements of all kinds. Bicycle helmets, for instance, are very different than 10 years ago, and combat helmets have also evolved, such as with the newer IHPS helmets.
3M makes combat helmets, and you have to wonder how much tech is passed between work and combat designs.
Milwaukee is eager to talk about the new safety tech, but I haven’t taken them up on that yet for lack of knowing what to ask. I’ll work on it.
Jim Felt
The fact that they’re “eager” is a very consumer/customer friendly approach.
But their onslaught of new product intros is already pretty much proof of that approach.
Corey Moore
Curious if their 6 pt racheting suspension is fully closed like traditional ones, or open in the back like Lyft’s. I’ve been wearing a Lyft for about a year now, and have been blown away by the difference in comfort for 10-12 hours in a hard hat that’s not generic bulk equipment.
Chris
No Bluetooth/radio headphones 🙁 I’m bummed
