Anyone used the Milwaukee socket sets? Curious if this would be a better buy than the Kobalt set.
Tom D
I have them both and I like them. The Packout version is really slick but you can “upgrade” later (the inserts are available).
The square edged bits are nice as they don’t roll away. I wouldn’t pay full price for them but this sale is insane.
Stuart
Benjamen reviewed them when they first came out – here: https://toolguyd.com/milwaukee-swivel-ratchet-socket-set/
I like them. Trying the shallow sockets now/soon.
Milwaukee vs. Kobalt I’d get the Milwaukee.
There will always be periodic Kobalt/Craftsman/Husky promos. Deals on Milwaukee sets like this are much harder to come by.
Go by the regret factor. One brand’s option sold out just now – would you regret passing on the Milwaukee or Kobalt? The deal you’d regret missing out more on would be the one to get.
I’m happy to answer more questions, but am trying to keep in mind that our promo code is on a clock and usage counter.
David
So has the code been used up? I can’t get it to work
Tom D
$60 is an insane deal – and with the coupon you can get TWO for the price they’re normally seen at.
Stuart
For *less* than the price they’re regularly at.
48-22-9004 is $119 at other retailers right now.
Adam
Little bummed. I’m a little surprised to see the coupon work on an already insane deal, but I finally think I can a little discount on some milwaukee rubber boots (die grinder, RA wrench, maybe more), and they don’t qualify.
They never go on sale, and think this would have been the time to allow a little discount on them. I know no fault of ToolGuyd. Thanks for the discount!

I see that Ohio Power Tools (your link) has some Grey Pneumatic items as part of their promotion. They may qualify for GP’s cash back rebate:

HEADS UP: Ohio Power Tool is doing %10 off their gift cards, which is a great way to get a discount on items not usually discounted. Throw on top of that the GIFTGUYD 20$ coupon, and you can pick up a $100 gift card for $70.
Only catch is it’s a physical card that you have to use by calling to place an order once you receive the physical card.
David
Looks like OPT CODE no longer works
B-Rad
Ah darn, I guess it was used 100 times already.
Hey Stuart, these collaboration coupon codes with supporting websites are fantastic. I would not have gone to OPT if it weren’t for that code, and now I’m going to be looking to them more in the future. Everyone wins!
Tom D
I agree! It cost OPT something like $2k and now OPT is on my list of “places to check” when I need a tool.
Frank D
The only thing missing is making this packout compatible 😀
Tom D
Buy a small thin Packout organizer and get 48-22-9486T or similar.
David
I got a price match elsewhere for the $60 since the code was used up. Was able to use a different code from another retailer. Don’t forget to shop around.
Travis
I guess I don’t understand why one would pick these up vs the dewalt sets that are way more complete for only a little bit more.
Jason Nero
Guess I should have waited to order…free shipping would have been nice. It was almost $24 for the cheapest method.
Jaycob P.
You still had to spend $99 to get free shipping. I would have bought the socket set if the paid shipping was reasonable, but they wanted $20 for even the slowest which was a deal breaker for me.
Jason Nero
I did actually buy two sets. One for me and one for my dad, since he loves these square bodied sockets. I got two tracking numbers, so they even shipped them separately.
Tom D
If it hasn’t shipped – call and see if you can add something – effectively a $24 discount depending on how you look at it.
Stuart
Nick gave us email in the previous post – [email protected] – it’s worth asking if they can adjust your order.
Jason
Thanks for the suggestion Stuart and Tom, but they shipped already. I ordered them on the 26th at 8pm, and had tracking on the 27th at 10am already.
Was still a decent deal. High shipping costs are always just a bit of an “oof” moment. I don’t think I’d buy from them regularly with the shipping costs where they are, since their regular prices seem to be in line with most other places that have more economical shipping.
Tom D
I’d still try an email – worst case they tell you to investigate impregnating a rotating pastry.
