Home Depot has a new round of tool deals, today only, 1/23/23, featuring Milwaukee cordless power tools, Dewalt combo kits, and select Ridgid and Ryobi promos.
The deals are largely the same as earlier this month, but there are enough new tool deals that it’s worth a look.
One of the deals that caught my attention features the Milwaukee M18 Gen II cordless brad nailer, model 2746-20.

Here’s where things get a bit fun.
The Milwaukee cordless brad nailer is a gift center special buy at $249 right now. That’s a decent deal, and it seems to have sold well during the holiday season.
You can buy the Milwaukee M18 cordless brad nailer + nothing else for $249.
There’s also a bundle right now, where you get the brad nailer with safety glasses. Update: it looks like this might also be a deal of the day promo.
Okay, so Milwaukee M18 cordless brad nailer + safety glasses = $229. Wait, what? You get the glasses and an extra $20 in your pocket. Cool.
Today’s deal of the day (1/23/23 only) features a 2-pack of the cordless brad nailer.

With this new deal, you can buy two Milwaukee M18 cordless brad nailers for $429. It’s a good deal, if you have a buddy to share the cost with, assuming they also want the same brad nailer. Or maybe you’re outfitting a team and need to buy multiples. But then what are the chances you’re shopping Home Depot’s deals of the day?
The nailer plus safety glasses bundle deal definitely surprised me, but it also serves as a good reminder to check model numbers when shopping for deals. I searched for the model number to double check the holiday season price, and that’s when I saw there are a bunch of other brad nailer and accessory deals.
$229 for the nailer and safety glasses is a better deal than $249 for just the brad nailer.
But $429 for two brad nailers? I’d say $429 for the brad nailer and a finish nailer would be great.
Still, I wonder – how many of you have the need or desire to buy two of the same cordless brad nailer?
After you take a peek – would any of these new tool deals of the day convince you to pull out your wallet?

Even though we might have 16 crews working in our GC/remodeling business and sometimes as many as 20 crews working in the plumbing business, we would seldom buy multiples. The exception might be if there was a new class of tool (like when PEX came in) that we needed to equip multiple crews all at once. Then we’d look at what sort of bulk discount and delivery time that one of our regular suppliers might offer. The tools we’d buy at HD were typically something that came up unexpectedly during work in progress for which it was more efficient to buy locally than return to a workout center. For us, HD, Lowes or a Local Lumber Yard were more a source for odds and ends on the way to a job than they were regular places to source tools.
Our normal style was to buy something new – pass it around – then decide if it was a must have subject to buying more in multiples. Most often, if the consensus was “it would be nice to have” – we’d phase the new tool in buying one at a time as we scrapped other tools.
Having sold up and retired many years – I’m now buying mostly for gift-giving to children, nephews, nieces et. al. So, my scanning of the internet for deals (usually more in the runup to Christmas) is for bargain hunting fun rather than business. So, I’m sometimes looking for deals on multiples – but more for ones in the price range and size for stocking stuffers.

Maybe think about shopping “locally” like you said.
This does not include HD, Lowe’s, Menard’s, Etc….
How about local hardware shops?
LOCAL HARDWARE STORES.

Isn’t the nailer + safety glasses bundle also a special buy of the day, hence it is priced lower than the gift center bare tool?
Stuart
It wasn’t showing that when I drafted the post, but it is now. Strange.
But yes, it looks like it’s a deal of the day too, which helps to explain things.
Big Richard
I’ve seen that before as well, like they change the price a day early or something. Have to wait and see if it is still at that price tomorrow once the SBOTD expires.
Big Richard
Still at $249, so I guess they took an existing promo and just added it to the SBOD to push it a bit more.
Stuart
It was $229, now $249, and so I guess it was included as a deal of the day.
Big Richard
Ahhh, yes that’s right, it was $20 less than the bare tool.

Duplicates of expensive tools for employees usually. A lot of trim guys still only own and run pneumatic guns. Cordless guns are more expensive but are a lot more efficient for bulk work, so this could be appealing to an employer.

Stuart-
Link for the 2 tool deal appears to not work – at least for me.
Stuart
Thanks, *fixed*!

Double fist the Brad nailer, brah. Gets ya hammered twice as fast.

I thought this was maybe a case of “kit” vs bare tool. Nope…..looks like all are bare tool.
I saw a similar online deal at HD during the holiday when I was shopping for an M18 chainsaw. I saw one where the price for two, bundled together, was one of the best deals out there. But I’m sure the masses aren’t looking for two.
Reminds me…..There’s a clothing chain that we go to that frequently has a sale on wallets….”Buy one and get the 2nd for 50% off”. Who buys 2 wallets at the same time!! Just give me one for 25% off the inflated sticker price and I’m good to go.
Then there’s the stores that show two different prices for an item…..the regular peasant price and then the special price for the perky-perk VIP your-special price. Just sign here….:.

Stuart. I’m always glad to read your “value” analysis on these daily specials. Maybe not as much as a new to my knowledge tool but nevertheless I and the friends I text some to do appreciate your research.
Now what am I ever going to do with all the unopened M12/M18 batteries and slow chargers…
At least my other battery platform brands don’t regularly require the purchase of those two painfully redundant accoutrements.
Stuart
Thank you, I appreciate it!
