Curiously, not many retailers offer the same impact wrench kit (2861-21CT). Perhaps it’s a “special buy” model? Or maybe because it’s so new. The Hackzall kit looks to be an even better deal.

The drill bit set is the kind of thing we’d carry with us in the trucks – but preferred known-quality (e.g. Greenfield, Cleveland, Viking, Chicago-Latrobe et. al.) USA -made bits for the tool rooms in the shops. We’d rarely buy sets (maybe had some MA Ford solid carbide sets) for the shops – but rather stocked sizes, lengths, bit materials etc. that we used the most in multiples and stored them in drill bit cabinets (Huot). At this price – I’d be skeptical about quality – but might be surprised. Also, at this price – If I were back buying for the businesses- I might have bought a batch (for 16 or 20 trucks) – but see that HD limits sales to 5.

The bits are actually really good, and have softened my dislike towards hex-shank drill bits.
Drilling anchor holes for cabinet installations? These work great! Comparing drills? Sure!
Drilling precise holes in a personal fabrication project? I reach for my smooth-shank USA-made twist drills.
I treat these as if they’re strictly for construction-type applications. Dewalt bits too. I had a problem with a Dewalt PilotPoint drill bit not fitting in a precise drill bushing, whereas my USA-made bits fit perfectly fine. Since then I have been a even more selective about which drill bits I use for different applications.

I see that the drill bit set and saw blades are sold out.

I bought a bunch of those demo carbide sawzall blades. Really good value!
Sez they’ll be delivered early April. No biggie that.
Oh. Totally agree regards the hex shabk drill bits. Okay but nowhere near precise. Though I think the Bosch ones are a tad better. Just a tad. (Who’s “tad”? Hmmm).

Good deal for construction use,, we stock them…I prefer Bosch bits and drill bits…and cases…at home I have the Huot drill bit drawer cabinets….so much easier to grab precisely what you want

The Milwaukee bits are a great set for general construction use, I.E. drilling through sheetrock into metal studs or wood for lag bolt pilots or just general mistreatment. I’ve used them a couple times in a pinch to drill door/drawer faces for cabinet hardware but they tend to pull themselves through pretty aggressively so I can’t recommend them for that.
The carbide axe blades are also really good. They last a really long time so long as you don’t hit any drywall screws. I have ruined 2 so far (1 Axe and 1 Diablo) by thinking they were indestructible and trying to power through what turned out to be screws. At $12 or so a piece, I try not to use them for demo for fear of ruining a $12 blade.

True about the drywall screws. Still, I’ve done miles of demo with the carbide blades. The only way to go in my opinion. Partial house demo with lath and plaster on 4 blades. 80 yards of dumpster capacity and 16,000 pounds. Not bad if you ask me.

I’m not trying to diminish how great the carbide blades are, because they really are. I imagine in 5 years or so they will be the rule rather than the exception like every other saw blade (when is the last time anyone used a HSS circular saw blade?) They are just really expensive (although the cost/benefit I imagine is pretty stacked on the benefit side) Both ruined blades were on the same kitchen demo where someone used the gold “construction screws” to toe in a bunch of ceiling joists and I didn’t notice until I fried the blades. They also make my Makita 18v brushless recip saws a viable corded saw replacement, I couldn’t outrun the charger with the 5.0ah batteries with the carbide blades but I have when using standard blades.
