At the end of Milwaukee Tool’s first Pipeline 2020 episode, they said that we could look forward to news about Milwaukee entering a brand new category.
Over at the Pipeline signup page, Milwaukee Tool says:
Be the first to experience the expansion of our PACKOUT system as well as our expansion into a new product category for Milwaukee Tool!
Hmm, a brand new product category for Milwaukee Tool… what do you think it could mean?
The new Milwaukee Packout vacuum is their first (non-radio) M18 + Packout tool storage product. Perhaps there are other M18 cordless power tool and Packout innovations soon to be announced? But that wouldn’t be a new category, would it?
This is a tough one.
New category…
What kinds of tools does Milwaukee not already have on the market?
What kinds of tools would you like to see them come out with?
Here’s the schedule and topics that will be covered in the next 3 Pipeline episodes:
- Episode 2: Milwaukee Packout Modular Tool Storage
- Episode 3: Milwaukee Trade-Specific Cordless Power Tools, Hand Tools, Accessories
- Episode 4: New Milwaukee Jobsite Lighting Systems and Protective Gear
See Also: Milwaukee PIPELINE New Tools Show 2020 – Here’s What to Know
I would venture a guess that it’s not going to be related to jobsite lighting, PPE, or trade-specific tools.
It probably isn’t related to Milwaukee Packout tool storage products either, since that’s an existing and expansive category in itself.
So… what do you think or want the new Milwaukee Tool product category entrance to be?

Laser levels?
King duck
That would be about right just dropped $800 on a laser level set up.
Mark
Bingo!
fred
They used to sell a M12 (2320-20) laser level ( 2 beam non rotating) – but dropped it some time ago. At one point they were bundling them in with other items as “freebees”.

Jim Felt
Milwaukee branded All Glass Heavy Duty Aquariums with Red trim.
Why not?
Garrett
They need a different backpack one without a ipad compartment and tool slots everywhere and they need some pouches more bags
Derek
I’m guessing larger power tools, like mowers & snowblowers.
Adam
I’m wondering. If they go to mowers I have to think they will finally do M18x2. Snowblower incredibly demanding tho (even EGO runs 2x60v) so I wonder if they can really go there with even 2×18?
Y. Tuck
M18 doesn’t make sense to me for mowers and snow blowers. Perhaps they would go with the 72v MXFuel line. Probably not given how MXFuel is priced…
Lance
My bet is commercial OPE powered by MX Fuel battery platform. M18 is too weak for serious OPE, even consumer-grade. Brands like Ego already cost less than M18 Fuel OPE and are FAR superior with much more growth potential.
Once the commercial MX Fuel OPE line is established ($3000 lawn mower and $4500 snowblower kits) they can introduce cheaper consumer-grade versions which cost 50% more than their competition, which Redheads will gladly buy. Gonna have to do something about the cost of those batteries though… $600 is pretty steep for a 432Wh battery – that’s $1.39/Wh.
Ego sells their 7.5Ah battery for $350, and at 378Wh it’s only $0.93/Wh, way cheaper than MX Fuel.
Milwaukee’s own M18 12Ah HD battery is only $1.02/Wh ($220 and 216Wh) and uses 4Ah 21700 cells which are more expensive than the 3Ah 21700 cells in the MX Fuel batteries. Who do they think they’re fooling??? Drink that Wisconsin Cool-Aid everyone! 🙂
mizzourob
With Ego out at Home Depot and there being a Milwaukee M18 product in all of Who’s segments except two: mowers and inverters. Since there is a MX Fuel inverter, I’m going to push my chips toward mowers. It just makes too much sense.
Then again since it makes sense, that is why I will probably be wrong an it will turn out to be a M18 bicycle to compete against the Makita LXT bicycle.
JustSomeDude
It is going to be mowers and more outdoor power equipment. Home Depot lost EGO to Lowe’s. After this fall HD will no longer have EGO. There a long back story to it, but it boils down to Chevron tools owning Skill and EGO, and also makes Lowe’s brand of battery tools. HD isn’t going to carry Skills new battery tools, and Lowe’s is. Lowe’s gave Chevron a larger footprint in their stores so Chevron went with Lowe’s for all their brands. So HD went to PPI (Rigid, Ryobi, and Milwaukee) and said hey we need more outdoor power equipment. Since PPI and HD are in bed together PPI said ok. Just wait you will see Milwaukee mowers and such just before spring at HD. BTW I work for HD, and know what’s going on.
Lava
Chervon. TTI.
Joey Perlins
Wheres the mower?
Paul Sikkema
It’s red and black – but it has a big black bull on it. Toro has a lot more floor space this year. Their 60 MAX line is really taking off.
In addition, Cub Cadet has its new electric mower and 60-volt yard tools.
Hopefully, Ryobi will move to Lithium-ion in their mowers soon…
Jeremey A Ellis
My guess is that you don’t know as much as you think you do. Here it is summer of 2021 and there’s not even a hint of a mower yet.
If they were planning to release a mower in 2021, they would have done it by now.
JoeM
I’m glad you folks ruled out reflective safety gear… I’m normally a DeWALT guy, but even I said to myself “But… I thought Milwaukee already DOES Reflective Safety gear?? What would they be expanding into? Pants? Shoes? That’s still reflective safety gear… What’s new about that?”
I would lean into the Mower and Snowblower side of things. And, if they’re REALLY cruel to their competition, they’ll make them MX Fuel powered.
“Steve? Where’s the snow from the sidewalk?” “Texas. We don’t need it here in Quebec. Thought the cowboys could use some snow cones.”
Big Richard
I don’t think it would be cruel to make MX Fuel mowers/snowblowers, considering the price point would be 5x that of their competitors, it really wouldn’t be “competition”.
JOSE J CASIANO
Actually it would be a perfect time because it will be sounded but probably won’t be out until next year and judging by the date of release of tools from last announcement, it would have to be q2 or later
Tom D
Could it be something in the tool storage line? Workbenches they have but perhaps something along those lines?
Brian M
M18 Fuel Washer/dryer
John B
Dishwasher too, so our women can be impressed that we are willing to help in the kitchen.
Brian
What categories are they not in right now? Is there anything any other cordless tool maker is making that Milwaukee isn’t? (Not that it has to be cordless)
Laser Levels
Multimeters
Lawn Mowers
Pocket Hole Jigs?
Cell Phones /sarcasm
My money is on a M12 based laser level
Scott
I’m thinking camping/outdoor gear would be a good category. They could make a coffee maker, portable electric stove top, lanterns, M18 light duty inverter that supports solar charging batteries, and whatever else.
JaJust
They’re releasing a Track Saw, guaranteed… maybe.
Brian
Track compatible saw is available in Europe. Can’t see it not coming to the US unless it is a blade issue requiring a redesign.
https://www.milwaukeetool.eu/en-eu/m18-fuel-66-mm-circular-saw-for-wood-and-plastics,-guide-rail-compatible/m18-fcsg66/
This isn’t a true plunge saw. Also, not attachable/detachable miter rail saw but the Festool HKC /Mafell KSS seem niche.
Ryan
I would be upset if that’s what they are going to release as a track saw. That’s just a circular saw with a modified base plate, not much innovation there. Don’t get me wrong, it would still be nice to have but something with better dust collection ability and a plunging action would be way better.
Steve
Is the milwaukee rail same as festool/dewalt/makita or same as mafell/bosch or their own do you know?
Skye A Cohen
It seems like the wrong time of year to come out with any kid of yard maintenance tools I can’t imagine they would squander the buzz of new tool announcements outside of spring if that’s what they were announcing.. my guess is either a line involving tracksaws and routers etc that use the tracks, or some dust extraction line with a HEPA vac and some Sanders.. but maybe that’s just wishful thinking
Skye A Cohen
Or maybe it’s a “new line” of driver bits or something
Joe H
A cordless welder powered by 20 of their biggest and baddest batteries. Also welding accessories and clothing line with built in battery powered cooling. A new line of face shields with cooling and dust/chemical filters and modular welding lenses. A giant cordless can opener for big food tins, oil barrels, and beer kegs. Cordless jobsite blender and skillet.
John B
M18 kegerator?
Aaron O
M18 PACKOUT kegerator… You could slap it on top of the dolly, and you wouldn’t have to lug it around! While they’re at it, how about an M12 tap to eliminate the pumping? I can see the ad now: “34 keg stands on a single 4ah battery!”
All joking aside, as gimmicky as it is, I’ve always wanted one of the Makita cordless coffee makers. Also, a refrigerated M18 packout cooler would pay for itself with the money I spend on ice every summer. Or, maybe go the other way with an M18 heated hand wash station / camp shower? Resistance heaters pull a ton of amps, but those jackets they make stay pretty toasty on a single 12v.
Plain grainy
As far as lighting improvements, I would like remote control lighting. (At least in the tower lights). New category: “battery vehicles”! These could be jobsite vehicles(Golf cart/ UTV style). And expand to riding mowers. Could feature solar charging panels. And powered carts(Wheel barrow type). Perhaps even a pallet mover.
Kevin
The lights that are one key models are remote controlled.
Dominic S
Am I the only one that wishes my house vacuum could run off of M18 batteries?!
Luke
Mine does… I vacuum the house weekly with the backpackvack!
Luke
Okay fine, maybe biweekly
Jim Felt
Luke.
I just bought one. How long does your HEPA filter last before you’ve had to replace it?
As they emphasize we can’t actually clean it ourselves.
And may the force be with you. Like you’ve never once heard that before…
Luke
Oh… I’ve never replaced it. I just take a compressor to it. I’m not working with hazardous dust or anything like that though, mostly just dog hair, toddler crumbs, tracked in dirt, etc. I didn’t realize they say not to clean it yourself ??♂️ (FWIW, it still runs great and cleans great after many many many personal cleanings)
Little Turkey Subs
The new Milwaukee M18 Work Truck. With like a gazillion M18 batteries.
Jim Felt
Elon Musk may one day actually deliver the Cyber Truck. If we live long enough. And proper.
Too bad he wouldn’t ever consider co-branding eh?
Scott S.
What about a M12 drone? They are becoming more and more popular in construction.
Mark
I’ve seen roofer use them to give estimates
Paul
Track saw. Take my money.
Chris S
My guess would be something similar to a Graco cordless paint sprayer or paint tools in general.
Milwaukee doesn’t have anything when you walk down the paint aisle and it would be a new category for them. I can’t think of any other category in home depot that doesn’t have Milwaukee at this point.
PTBRULES
Milwaukee did make a Sprayer at one point in time.
Apparently it was crap thou.
Scobey
Go-Karts, 4 wheelers, mini bikes, pit bikes, and e-bikes.
Bout time too.
Thank you Milwaukee
Tom
Maybe some pneumatic tools to go with their new cordless compressor? Pneumatic nailers are still a very affordable and popular option, and tools that require a bit more power are still widely used in automotive, which is a customer base they seem to be going after more and more.
OldDominionDIYer
They already make a fantastic pneumatic framing nailer!
Nathan
OPE perhaps
laser lever with M12 battery sure.
Joke about a cell phone – some of these companies should. Have any of you tried that CAT S61 phone. No it’s not star specs for other smartphones but it is very interesting. on the floor. built in IR camera – yes plese.
So Milwaukee and/or Dewalt in the smartphone market. or smartphone accessories. yes please
Andrew Drozd
I have an S61, I use it largely for work. As a regular everyday phone… not so great, thought the FLIR is quite handy. The air quality sensor was always going off at the bar when I would tuck my chin to burp, though.
Sco Deac
Outdoor gas power equipment
OldDominionDIYer
I would love to see them produce a mower but that doesn’t seem like a “new” product line it’s squarely in the OPE arena. I could see them get into laser levels with their acquisition of Empire. It would be a somewhat new line (they already have laser measuring units) Maybe manual trimming gear like hand pruners, loppers, saws, I don’t know though. Industrial paint equipment also makes sense as others have mentioned, though not of interest to me, therefore not very exciting in my world. They already have:
Plumbing
OPE (partial)
Automotive
Tool Storage (stationary & mobile)
Lighting
Construction Equipment
Work Wear
Electrical Trades Gear
Power Generation
Hand tools
Vacuum Equipment
Woodworking tools
Masonry levels and SDS gear
Plenty of opportunity to expand in several of these areas but not sure what new area they will get into
David Zeller
My guess? Battery operated air cleaner/PPE. Or a line of electric RV’s.
Chris
Packout table saw!
Relax I’m joking.
Ryan
A packout adaptable work station would be awesome. I’m envisioning a hand truck style frame that allows you to attach packout containers to the front but has an MFT style table that swings up or attaches onto the back. The work surface can be used either attached to the hand truck or as a stand alone table so that you can still use the hand truck to move your packouts around or to move material around. Imagine being able bring all your tools and a work station where ever you want all in one trip. That would be awesome, probably just wishful thinking, but a guy can dream… Can’t he?
avhjr
A new battery platform between 18v and 72v? Perfect for OPE?
Josiah
I’m guessing we will see a mx zero turn.
Techtools
I have this strange feeling it’s HVAC 🙂 please god please! Updated hvac meter. Cordless gauges, m18 vacuum pump m18 recovery m18 flare m18 swage. So many to come. Only one can hope!
Kyle
A lawnmower?? I hope so
Adam
While some existing tools are used, they could design more agriculture equipment, which is pretty close to OPE, so hopefully that. Powered shears, rototiller attachment, fogger, mowers.
I’d be fine with a riding zero turn powered by MX.
Albert
Maybe airless paint sprayers again?
Richard A West
Paint sprayer makes sense, otherwise they are
Jumping on the coffee maker band wagon.
Sandra Brice-Brown
I purchased milwaukee 15 pc set in april. Funds were taken from my account but nothing received. Please beware of Milwaukee ads.
Stuart
Sounds like you fell prey to a too-good-to-be-true scam site.
https://toolguyd.com/dewalt-milwaukee-cordless-power-tool-deals-scam-reminder/
Chris
If you were scammed, place a charge back on your credit card.
I highly doubt Milwaukee needs to steal your money and warning people about “Milwaukee ads” makes you look gullible.
Frazier
Jobsite kitchen. M18 toaster, microwave, mixing bowl, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Must be it.
Jim Felt
Stuart.
As an aside isn’t it interesting just how much interest Red is generating with their multiple promises cyber events here? And you just can’t buy this enthusiasm or even market research this conveniently packaged.
Bet they’ll all try this eventually.
Okay. Not Bosch (snore). Or the higher end Euro brands.
Amirite?
Stuart
To be honest, I would hope that when all is said and done that the level of interest is close to the interest that NPS2020 would have attracted. The goal, as I would see it, is to fill that hole as much as possible.
Other brands have tried to duplicate the atmosphere of Milwaukee’s NPS events, but with limited success.
Frankly, I don’t see others putting in the same level of effort that Pipeline has required. Some other brands have grown happy with shallow social media posts, eschewing typical press releases and media info that I have long appreciated and even relied on.
James
Hydraulic lifting and workshop equipment for Mechanics?
They have had a focus on mechanics in the past, and have a small range of mechanics hand tools.
Imagine if they brought out some M12 or M18 electronically assisted Trolley and Bottle Jacks to displace the air assisted models that are currently in the market.
Pierre
I heard through the grapevine that Milwaukee will be releasing an M18 Bidet, portable sink and M12 toilet paper dispensers. MX line will include portable heater, 6k lighting and self powered hand truck (making moving materials effortless).
Andrew Drozd
M18 winch, dammit!
Mike
Hot glue gun and a pack out carrier/lid that holds m18 batteries would be nice and line levels in red and green, preferably m18 as well.
Chris
If you want a hot glue gun, just buy ryobi and get a battery adapter.
https://surebonder.com/products/mil-18v-ryobi%C2%AE-to-milwaukee%C2%AE-battery-adapter
David Zeller
I’ve used the Ryobi got gun for a couple of years now. It works well. I use it low volume, not for sealing hundreds of boxes or anything like that.
Dan Watson
it will be a line of laser levels, I’m nearly certain of it.
Paul
The new Milwaukee Boudoir line will be the highest performance, most durable line of marital aids on the market!
With class leading Powerstate brushless motors and M-Flesh silicone, human partners are going to be rendered obsolete!
B
I don’t know which laser system you bought, but you payed too much. “Deko” laser level is probably better and only $70. Chinese brand… They use brighter lasers…
Devin D Spartan
I would get on board with the packout system if they made a traditional style 12 cup coffee maker that fit in the stack.
Eric Shelden
Hopefully a LP/kerosene heater line up with battery powered fans. Been waiting for a couple of years now and refuse to buy a Dewalt or Rigid version.
David Zeller
Ryobi’s then? 😉
Joe H
A cordless backscratcher with multiple attachments would be nice. Cordless massager, maybe a foot massager for the lunch break. Maybe cordless adult toys?
Adrian Brevig
My bet for the new category is Drain Cameras, line transmitter, line locator
Greg
Solar inputs and battery and recharge stations.
OPE
Ute
Branden H
Oh there was some parents released for Packout truck-bed tool boxes etc. Maybe that is considered a new line of tools for them? I think as some others have said, they are missing a lot of hvac tools.
Champs
My money is on an M4 vape pen and Nikon compatible M12 FUEL SLR.
Matt
I am saying footwear
Doresoom
Here’s their patent for a pallet mover and other types of material carts: https://patents.google.com/patent/US20200048058A1
Jacob
I wonder if possibly they’ll move into “pro” tool storage. Their toolboxes/workbenches have been at the prosumer price point, I wonder if they’ll target higher end stuff. Manufactured in the US to get around tariffs perhaps?
While thinking of this, I thought “wouldn’t it be cool if there was a unit with slideout Packout brackets, such that your existing Packout boxes became the drawers?”. Depth would be the issue but it’d be cool being able to grab a couple “drawers” and head out of the shop to work on something. It’d probably be priced at $2500 and not include any boxes to put into it, $5k for a fully loaded unit. Might still be worth it to someone though.
Puttzy
I’m taking a wild guess here. Milwaukee will enter the portable saw horse and work table space. They’ll release products to compete with the Kreg Portable Work Table KWS-1000 or Worx Pegasus, but at a pro level. There is room in this market for an innovative company to go way beyond the current offerings. They already have the infrastructure in place with the Packout line. You know, engineering plastics and metal to professional tasks & durability. If not, they should. There hasn’t been a major player revolutionize this industry for over a decade.
Scott
How about ladders? Or bar clamps?
Ben Millican
Milwaukee needs some sanders. Need ironhead, 150mm rotary, 150mm fine finish orbital. All with good dust extraction
Ankur
When is Milwaukee Lawn Mower coming up?
chad
No doubt, Im holding off purchasing a Skil set of mower, trimmer and blower hoping Milwaukee comes out with one since I have all M18 chargers and batteries!!!
chad
Ok, got it from a regional sales director- February 2022 is when it will be announced for a M18 16V powered mower. though i quote “the way Milwaukee rolls out new product give or take 4-6 months” lol!
