Milwaukee Packout XL Tool Box 48-22-8429

If you’ve been meaning to pick up the Milwaukee Packout XL tool box, 48-22-8429, it’s currently on sale for $99.

The MSRP for the deep tool box seems to have went up to $119, with the $20 savings bringing it back down to $99 at least temporarily. When it launched a year and a half ago, the price was $100.

Home Depot also has a couple of “special buy” bundles where you can save even more when you buy the XL tool box and something else.

For instance, The Packout 2-drawer tool box is regularly ~$149. But if you buy the XL tool box and 2-drawer tool box together, the bundle is $234, saving you a bit more money. There are a few other bundles and Packout savings right now.

If you don’t need this immediately, you can also wait to see what types of holiday promos there might be on Packout products. Milwaukee changes up the promos every year, and so far there has been no indication as to what this year’s deals or bundle offers might be.

During the pipeline, one of the YouTubers said that the new XL PO that comes with the tracksaw (adds a handle) , is only coming with the tracksaw kit. I’m wondering if that information may have been inaccurate, and they are trying to get rid of the existing model.
I don’t see a huge demand for handle on that size PO, but I guess someone was convinced it was necessary.

I asked and was explicitly told that the handle is only available on the track saw version of the tool box.

It makes sense on the track saw tool box so that it can be carried with one hand.

Packout in a suit! Hot on the heels of the Craftsman Tradestack 2-drawer box (see the post on the new Tradestack Organizer), it looks like the people who complain about the garish color of Packout now have one less thing to complain about.

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that Packout tool boxes in black exist. The bad news is that it’s exclusive to Europe. You might be able to order from overseas dealers, although shipping fees will be hefty.

Why do they get black Packout, and we only get red? Trade dress agreements bar Milwaukee from having red tool boxes in Europe.

I’m curious – who owns the trade dress for red tool boxes in Europe?

Also, I thought trade dress requires more specific features, e.g. a specific shade of color or combination of colors.

Thanks for the clarification! I don’t follow Packout too much but it was at one of my dealers as “coming soon”

I haven’t heard anything about it coming to the USA.

It was one of my Euro suppliers.

My mistake, it was a UK distributor.

I also get six pieces of 32Kg luggage each trip, but it has to be below 158cm. Maybe I’ll bring some smaller ones back and like it better than the red ones!
