Monteverde Tool Pen Ballpoint

The Monteverde Tool Pen is, as you might have guessed, a multi-functional pen with a couple of tool elements.

It features a 4-inch ruler with 4 different scales, a capacitive touchscreen stylus tip, a bubble level, and a bit holder with double-sided screwdriver bit. There’s little information about the screwdriver bit, but it looks to be a mini/precision-sized bit, and not 1/4″ hex.

The pen housing is 6-sided, with a pocket clip, and so it won’t easily roll off tabletops or other surfaces that might not be perfectly level. When used with another writing instrument, the tool pen can be used as a straight edge as well.

There are three different color options – black, silver, and high-visibility yellow, and different pen/pencil tip styles. There is also a red ballpoint version.

There are also 4 different pen/pencil tip options:

  • Ballpoint (works with Monteverde D1 refills)
  • Rollerball (works with standard international short ink cartridges)
  • Pencil (works with 0.9mm pencil lead)
  • Fountain pen (works with standard international short ink cartridges)

Street prices range from $20 to about $45.

Yeah ah no not gonna pay 20 to 45 dollars for a pen/ruler that I can misplace in and around my shop. Rather buy 100 number 2 pencils for 20 bucks. Heck wait till August you can buy a box of people pencils and vet one free at plenty of stores during those back to school sales.

Got one for an EDC with a small graph-ruled notebook. It’s too long to be comfortably a pocket pen, but I’ve used the ruler, smartphone tip and at least one of the screwdrivers numerous times already. Don’t regret it, not looking forward to having to find a replacement refill.
