A couple of months ago Dewalt announced new 20V Max impact wrenches – a compact 3/8″ version and premium 1/2″ versions. It looks like a compact 1/2″ model with hog ring anvil is going to join the lineup.
Officially, the new 1/2″ impact wrench, model DCF880HB is listed as discontinued. We’re not sure what the reasoning is for this, but currently assume that the impact wrench is a new model pending eventual release.

Rummaging around the web, we dug up unofficial specs from a few retailers’ preorder/backorder product pages.
The impact wrench features a 1/2″ hog ring anvil, compact 5.7″ length, 3.4lb weight, no-load speed of 0-2400 RPM, no-load impactor of 0-2700 IPM, and it can deliver a max torque of 1824 in/lbs. Like the other 20V impact tools, the new wrench features a ring of 3 LED to illuminate dim work areas.
Price is unknown, and we don’t have an ETA or even a confirmation that the mysterious impact wrench will ever hit the market.
While the max torque capability is nowhere near that of the premium 1/2″ impact wrenches, it’s nice to see that a compact version’s in the works.

Looks like a beefy little wrench, although the top-end torque isn’t too much higher than some of the 20v impact drivers – their new brushless is rated for 1500.
Then again, I guess those extra in-lbs could come in handy on some tough lugs or other nuts.

Well, if it’s able to actually make the 150ft/lbs it claims, then it could be a pretty useful tool for johnny homeowner, rotating tires on his corolla or minivan.
