Makita 3-8 Makita 12V Max Cordless Impact Wrench

Makita has just introduced a new 3/8″ impact wrench as part of its 12V Max cordless tool lineup. The impact wrench (WT01) features a variable speed (0-2300RPM/0-3000 IPM) 1,000 in-lb maximum torque gearbox in a compact and relatively lightweight (2.1 lb) profile.

The impact wrench will be available as part of a kit by itself (WT01W) and a 3-piece combo (LCT309W) that includes a 3/8″ drill-driver (FD02) and LED flashlight (LM01).

So…..any comments on it? I’ve been looking for the best driver to use in an automotive setting and haven’t found one that does it all at a REASONABLE price point.

To be honest, I haven’t heard much good or bad about it. Just about all brands’ 12V impact wrenches are in the same class in terms of power and runtime, with no clear champion.

Surprised that they can make a real impact with such a small platform.

Been looking for something to use in an automotive setting rather than the constant knuckle busting, and I’m wondering if this might be just the ticket.

I doubt that this little guy could handle lug nuts, but it should be able to fit in a lot of smaller spots that a big air-powered impact gun could never go.

Anyone have any feedback on this thing?
