On my last trip to my local Home Depot, earlier this week, I finally saw Dewalt hand tools on display. I don’t know how long the display has been there, but they had their own dedicated end-cap, a couple aisles away from the rest of the hand tools. The one thing I’ve seen in that line that I really wanted — their utility knife — wasn’t there, but I did pick up a 100′ measuring tape, which seems really nicely put together. I haven’t seen any Dewalt hand tools at Lowe’s yet.

I know Lowes is getting the new 20v max line but I have no idea about the hand tools. Im hoping we do! Lowe’s carrys other rockwell 12v tools, this trans4mer thing looks cool but who knows if we’ll get it in. Does HD have it? Any one know?

Dewalt hand tools are currently exclusive to Home Depot, at least as far as Lowes is concerned. I checked two Home Depots this week – one had a complete end-cap display, the other looked like it was still being put together and stocked.
When I checked Home Depot’s rough online in-store stock estimator a week ago, both stores supposedly had Dewalt hand tools in stock, but no displays were up at all, so perhaps some stores are slower in fully setting up their displays than others. It is possible that the knives sold out really quickly, or the merchandise was misplaced.
Lowes’ Rockwell display is as large as its ever been, and I spotted some of their newer tools there. It is quite possible that they will stock the Trans4mer as well, but you’ll likely be able to buy it online way before you first see it at Lowes.
