Olight recently launched the new Javelot Pro 2 LED flashlight, which delivers up to 2,500 lumens and features 2x 5,000 mAh 21700 Li-ion batteries.
They sent one over for review, and I’ve been testing it alongside a Javelot Turbo that I purchased two years ago.
The Olight Javelot Pro 2 is an upgrade compared to the Javelot Pro, and also delivers higher performance than flashlights powered by single 18650 or 21700 batteries. It also delivers longer runtime, depending on the settings.

Compared to the Javelot Pro, the Pro 2 is brighter, delivering up to 2,500 lumens vs. 2,100. It has 2x 5,000 mAh 21700 batteries, compared to 2x 3,500 mAh 18650 batteries for the original Pro.
My Javelot Turbo also has 2x 5,000 mAh 21700 batteries. Comparing the two side by side, there are differences in handle texture, but not size. My Turbo delivers up to 1,300 max lumens.
The Javelot Pro 2 has two visual indicator arrays surrounding the power switch – one has 4 LED indicators to depict brightness, and the other has 4 LED indicators to show remaining battery charge capacity.
In addition to the side button switch, there’s a tailcap switch for momentary low power and latched high power operation. Remote switches are also available.
The Javelot Pro 2, or my older Turbo, both specialize in long distance spotlight illumination. These are not the flashlights for close-up use.
It recharges via magnetic tailcap cable that connects to standard USB-A ports.

The rechargeable batteries are built into the handle, and additional handle-battery units will be available separately.

Heck I just got the black one. I couldn’t get the megapack to work. It showed the two bundles I didn’t want. Maybe my phone, maybe the website, maybe my low website literacy. But I am happy anyway. I can’t wait to shine this thing. I never spend on flashlights if I remotely suspect I will regret it. This model is outside what competitors offer by a wide margin. I agree it’s a deal.

I think you will be impressed. I have one , previous model or gen 1. Close range, it does a good job of lighting the area, Where it shines [pun], is long distance. It shines up to 1050 meters, just over a kilometer. This is definitely a search and rescue type flashlight.

I think OLight makes some pretty awesome products. I have several. My only complaint is that I wish a few that I own had tailcap switches. With some of the models you have rotate the light and feel for the switch with your thumb. This could pose a problem in the dark. I’d sacrifice a few modes to have the switch on the tail. I could be mistaken, but I thought that some models can take an upgradable tail switch. The light above looks appetizing. Hard not to like all the features. I’m a huge fan of the magnetic chargers, too.

I feel about the same about Olight. I think they do it right – high performance flashlights that don’t require hours of study to understand or operate safely.
I might be exaggerating a bit, but Olight is rarely the absolute lumens-per-dollar winner in the enthusiast flashlight world, but many of the competitors wouldn’t be safe to hand to someone without careful handling instructions or would require an understanding of battery types and discharge rates to match them up with appropriate cells.
Olight has good build quality and performance, a simple-enough UI, is competitively priced and doesn’t require special handling. I wouldn’t mind if they backed-off on some of their zany marketing, but that’s about my only complaint.

If they redesigned their entire website, it wouldn’t hurt my feelings. Lol. But I agree, the quality you get for the $ is probably unbeatable. Especially their tactical laser/lights. The design of the easy mounting system is amazing. Plus being able to charge it w/o having to remove it is just awesome. They hold a charge for an incredibly long time. Never drained just sitting there.

I like the perun full size head lamp. Better than the wizard pro I have.
Only thing I can say bad is they are like other flashlight manufacturers… Come out with new model that is a few hundred lumens more and maybe a little more run time at a higher price.
If you have a 2100 lumen light and a2500 lumen light and all else being equal you really can’t tell the difference.

True. In this case, the batteries and indicators are an upgraded compared to the Pro, and the indicators and brightness are an upgrade compared to the Turbo. The Pro 2 is also less expensive than the Turbo.
Upgrading is always a tough choice. I imagine these will appeal more to first-time buyers.

So this light uses a prebuilt battery “pack” meaning you can’t just swap 21700s yourself, you’ll need to buy a replacement pack from olight?
This is my biggest problem with olight products; proprietary batteries(other lights use special versions of standard battery styles to allow the magnetic charging to work) that may not be produced by the time you need a replacement bc the product lifespan is just a couple years before they move onto another model. I’m sure that isn’t a big problem now, but what about in 5 years?
Led flashlights should be something that lasts decades and I don’t want to be tied into special batteries when plenty of other products don’t require that. Also magnetic chargers that may change over time and no longer be produced.
I find wurkkos and sofirn to have better prices in general, and offer universal usb-c charging for most products.

Yes. But, there are retaining clips on both ends, suggesting that the batteries can be removed. But as Olight uses customized battery cells for magnetic tailcap charging, you’d be buying the cells from them anyway, even if replaceable. I don’t see how the magnetic tailcap charging of 2 batteries would allow for drop-in replacement.
I have given Olight flashlights to people that would never buy flashlights they need to extensively research battery solutions for, and they love the simplicity of the magnetic tailcap charging. I quite like it myself as well.
Are they the best choice for enthusiasts who want to swap Li-ion cells back and forth? Perhaps not.
If it’s not for you, it’s not for you.
Olight has not been moving away from their magnetic tailcap charging, and has been consistent in the few years I’ve been following and covering their products.
What about in 5 years from now? 5 years is a very long time in the world of LED lighting and Li-ion battery tech, especially for enthusiast users and collectors.

I’ve had maybe half a dozen contacts there, and they have all been ethical. One went above and beyond to help a reader with a warranty issue.
I like the brand and its products, but would never work with them again if they requested anything other than honorable review opportunities.
They have both customer referral and content creator affiliate programs.
I don’t doubt for a moment that some people are exhibiting shill behaviors, but I haven’t seen this being an internal promotional mechanism.
If a flashlight failed in 8 minutes, send it back for replacement. Defects happen. If it becomes a trend where the replacement does the same, please send me details.

No thanks. I prefer 4000k-5000k and 90cri. I also prefer to know what LED is in my flashlight.

I actually prefer cool white (5000K and up) for spotlight and distance tasks, as it makes things seem brighter.
4000K to 5000K and 90+ CRI is also my preference for flood lights and general closeup lighting.
