These vending machines can be stocked with first aid supplies, safety consumables such as goggles and gloves, cutting tools, general MRO supplies, and other such regularly used items.
Joby just added a new magnetic flexible legged mini tripod to their Gorillapod lineup. Our biggest gripe with the Gorillatorch, although minor, is that we could not [easily] modify it for use with 3rd party flashlights. Although the new Gorillapod Magnetic is intended for use with P&S cameras, it shouldn’t be too difficult to craft a custom […]
To help improve sales, Sears has agreed to sell Craftsman branded tools through Ace Hardware. Early reports are saying that the partnership will start with 100 Ace stores carrying about 10% of the Craftsman product line by May. It has not yet been decided if Sears will roll out this “store-within-a-store Craftsman offering” to all 4500 […]
Via their Facebook page, Snap-on recently discussed how one could skin and customize their Snap-on tool storage. While we understand and can appreciate the desire to customize and personalize a tool box, designs like this seem to be a bit too ostentatious.
A reader recently asked us for help sourcing vintage tool logos, and since we didn’t have much luck with this, we’re turning to you for help. We’re not quire sure what format he’s looking for, but we’re assuming he’s looking for vinyl decals or something similar at the very least.
Along with the previously mentioned Style, Leatherman has introduced the Style CS, a rather compact keychain tool that’s packed with features. Referred to as the mini Skeletool, Leatherman’s Style CS packs 8 essential tools into a lightweight and compact design.

Right after we posted our review of Channellock’s new 6.5″ V-Jaw pliers, Josh from Brown Dog Welding left a comment via twitter that he uses the hell out of his Channellocks. We love seeing tools in action, so we asked Josh for a pic.
You may have noticed that things have begun to look… unusual around here. There’s a good reason for that – we’re updating ToolGuyd’s look and feel! Changes will be implemented and tested gradually, but there may be glitches or bugs in the code that we miss. If you should find such a glitch, please let […]
Over at ArmChairDIY, there’s a great post about overarm pin routers that also includes free plans for making your own. The plans are from an older Popular Mechanics tutorial by Rosario Capotosto, and they are extremely detailed and easy to follow. The homemade overarm pin router is designed to be flexible and somewhat modular, and it looks […]

Over at the new ShopNGarage forum, J.A.F.E. offered a great tip for keeping small parts secure in a parts washer or cleaner bath. J.A.F.E.’s tip calls for placing small parts into a perforated Altoids tin, as this will allow the parts to soak in cleaner while ensuring that they don’t get lost or separated.
We just learned that Sears’ Blue Tools Crew is giving away a suite of Craftsman woodworking tools. To enter to win, simply “follow” them on Twitter via @BlueToolCrew before 2/18/10 11:59 CST.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!! I tried to make a cute graphic, and succeeded, but the file was abducted by aliens. So… this is the best I could scrounge up on short notice. The heart outline is a mirror image of Channellock’s new 6.5″ V-Jaw pliers (recently reviewed here), and the inner heart is from the Sears Blue […]
Since we first posted about Ridgid’s new JobMax multi-head cordless tool system, we’ve learned a number of things. First, there will only be two cordless combo sets available at launch, one that that includes the three most popular and commonly used tools, and another right-angle set with tools intended for use in close quarters. We talked about […]
UPDATE: Here’s our review of Ridgid’s new JobMax tools. The page you’re reading now has info on the right angle drill, ratchet, and impact driver, while this page here talks about the autohammer and oscillating multitool. Yesterday, we posted a bit about Ridgid’s new 12V JobMax cordless tool system, and the first combo set that includes an auto hammer head and an […]
We’re a huge fan of Channellock products, so when they offered us the opportunity to review their new 412 V-Jaw pliers, we couldn’t refuse! As mentioned in our recent preview post of the 412 pliers, Channellock introduced this smaller 6.5-inch version of their V-Jaw pliers for use on small tubing and round stock. We found that […]
Over at Amazon, a 3rd party vendor Industrial Supply Company is selling 5pc Williams hard handled comfort grip screwdriver sets for about $27 plus shipping and handling. While they may look rather unimpressive and plain, these drivers are said to be phenomenally comfortable to use, and are often compared to Snap-on’s unfortunately discontinued hard-handled drivers.
