Apr 9, 2010 Stuart 5 Comments

I wrote an article over at Popular Mechanics reviewing five exotic and uncommon hand tools you’ll probably never see at your local big box hardware stores. These handy tools will likely be discussed in greater detail here on ToolGuyd in the future, but for now, check out my reviews over at PopMech! Attack of the Exotic, Off-Brand Hand Tools via […]

Ridgid SuperClamp Portable Clamping Work Station

Apr 9, 2010 Stuart 12 Comments

Ridgid just came out with the SuperClamp, robust mobile clamping workstation. The Superclamp has a solid array of user-friendly features, and bears an extremely close resemblance to Triton’s venerable Superjaws workbench. With a jaw capacity of 37-1/2″, and a foot operated clamp capable of exerting 2,000 pounds of force, the SuperClamp will be definitely be a strong competitor to Rockwell’s Jawhorse.

Bosch & Ridgid Slim Grip Small Angle Grinders

Apr 9, 2010 Stuart 7 Comments

I don’t know about you, but except for a chain saw, an angle grinder is about the last thing I want to be more compact and slim. It looks as though I’m in the minority here as both Bosch and Ridgid offer small slim grip angle grinders. Maybe they’re on to something after all.

Apr 8, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

Bucket Boss’s Rear Guard Tool Sheath is a small utility pouch that is great for carrying a a few tools around hands-free. The Rear Guard can be attached to an ordinary pants belt, and also has a flap that can be inserted into a back pocket for extra stability. I’ve been using a Rear Guard for quite some time now […]

11-in-1 Survival Card

Apr 7, 2010 Stuart 5 Comments

This past December, I had the opporunity to check out one of these immensely popular 11-in-1 survival cards firsthand, and I thought it was junk. The tool’s knife and saw were dull and in awkward positions, with the other features being as equally unimpressive.

96-inch Level Recommendations?

Apr 5, 2010 Stuart 1 Comment

Reader Don sent us an email asking for help in finding 8-foot level reviews and recommendations. If you have expereince with an 8-foot level, do you prefer to use a box level, or an I-beam level, and why? I would think that an I-beam level may be lighter and easier to use (not to mention cheaper), […]

Woodpeckers Tools – Woodworking Shows Highlight!

Apr 2, 2010 Stuart 5 Comments

As you may recall, I recently took a trip to visit a regional Woodworking Show. Before the actual show, I knew which booths I wanted to visit most, and Woodpeckers was at the very top of that list. If theirs was the only booth I was able to visit at that show, the trip would have still been […]

Normally I hate, hate, HATE cheap crappy bits, but you never know when one might come in handy. Afterall, a poor quality bit is still better than no bit at all when you really need one. There are a few sets that caught my attention over at amazon:
