Deal of the Day: Pelican Cases (12/26/17)

Pelican 1400 Case

Over at Amazon, today’s deal of the day features a selection of Pelican cases. I took advantage of similar deals of the day in the past, and was hoping that the deal would return again this year.

Pelican cases are the BEST protective tool, camera, and equipment cases I have ever owned, seen, or used.

There are a couple of luggage options included in the deal, but most of the eligible items are regular equipment cases with foam inserts.

The foam is of a “pick and pluck” style, making it easy to customize cases to fit your needs.

When sizing out a case, look at the internal dimensions and plan things out. With foam, I try to have at least 1″ surrounding any equipment or between items.

Buy Now(via Amazon)

Deal ends at 3am ET 12/27/17 unless supplies sell out sooner.

Stuart – the “buy now” link is broken. For anyone interested, the correct link appears to be https://www.amazon.com/s/browse/?node=17484903011&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=toolguyd-20

If anyone doesn’t mind buying used. And you live around a military base. I found that the military surplus stores have very cheap prices on pelican cases. Now majority of the time they do not come with the phone but you can always purchase that later. But you can get any size Pelican case, granted it has to be there for you to purchase it. But I have bought the largest style pelican to carry my gear for as little as $60. Now don’t worry about it being broken Pelican has a very good warranty and will send you out a new latches or replacement parts if you need it.

How does the foam they use hold up over the years? I hav Haliburton camera cases from the 1970’s where the foam disintegrated over the years. It is more than a bit of a nuisance to replace it. And the replacements do the same thing – so you need to change it out. I think that I’ve replaced mine something like 6 or 7 times.

So far, so good, but you’ll have to ask me again in a few years.

Pelican foam set replacements are widely available. I use the dividable insert for my 1510 camera roller case, and it has held up well. I haven’t been using pick and pluck foam for as long.

Haliburton foam replacements have been easy to get – but they seem to have a life expectancy of less than 10 years. Mine always seem to start disintegrating at about 6 years – and if you wait too long some of the products of disintegration get stuck to your contents. I’ve taken to putting some components into cloth bags.

I’ve never used the stuff, but the kaizen foam seems to be getting rave reviews these days, might be an alternative for you

I have Hardigg Storm cases (now Pelican) that are 10 years old and the foam shows no sign of breakdown yet.
I understand the issue. Once bought a “new old stock” Tumi brand shoulder strap and the rubber non slip surface crumbled to dust as soon as I flexed it !

Great deal if you want Black as the color. If you are a Prime member the free shipping will almost pay for the cost of Prime in the larger sizes.
I have gotten a number of Pelican cases on eBay – shipping can really add to the price. The shipping charge is calculated by size/volume, not just weight. Sometimes, when I have gotten a really good price, I have helped out a seller who
badly underestimated shipping, by paying actual shipping costs.
