Porter Cable 20V Drill Driver Kit PCC606LA

Over at Amazon, this Porter Cable 20V Max cordless drill kit is on sale for $70. It appears that this is their fantastic PCC600 cordless drill, and not the cheaper PCC601 model. And it looks to come with a standard 1.5Ah battery pack, and not the cheaper 1.3Ah pack. But it does come with a slow 4 hour charger.

We’ve seen it for this price before, and even less once before. $70 is a very good price, and definitely good enough to warrant a post.

No, it’s not the latest and greatest cordless drill out there. But it’s still a fine good one. And so what if the design looks a little… unconventional and greebly?

Features & Specs

  • 1/2″ all metal ratcheting chuck
  • 0-400/0-1600 2-speed gearbox
  • Weighs 3.5 lbs

Amazon says this is a “Limited Time Offer,” which I take to mean they have leftover supply from after Father’s Day that they’re looking to clear out.

    $94 for a “real” drill.

Stu in your description you mentioned a fuel gauge battery?
I’ve never seen a PC battery with a gauge is it on the drill??

If you look on the base of the drill there is a diagram of a battery with three LEDs in it next to a button for testing.

I will skip any drill that uses cheap wire for their charger, even if it is 4hrs. Obviously not meant for a job site.

Interesting, because their new brushless drill and impact come with the 4 hour charger, but they come with two batteries.

When I was at the Dewalt/Stanley/B&D event, they said their line is targeted at the handyman/repairman. It’s the niche they have decided to put Porter Cable into. So no it’s not really meant for the jobsite.

For fans of the old Porter Cable – its a pity but logical. They don’t want to cannibalize sales of Dewalt

          I’m sorry I misremembered.

I was going over the audio I recorded for the Dewalt 2016 (SDB, Proto, PorterCable, etc) Event.

The Porter Cable rep specifically said they are targeting

“the tradesman and professional residential user.”

So actually yes Porter Cable is meant for the jobsite — the residential jobsite.

Look at the battery sides, to start.

It’s the term in special effects/model building for small decorative pieces, usually that have to purpose in the design except to add visual interest.

It’s also in video games and misc. other industries and visual-related topic areas.

It’s one of my favorite words, after defenestration.

That’s a great price. Though if someone needs more than a drill, the Porter-Cable kits are a better value. You get a regular drill, impact drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, multi-tool, light, 2 batteries, and a fast charger. Though it has the not quite as nice regular drill in the kit.

This is $249 but I’ve seen them for $199 on sale. Heck of a deal for a gift set to a relative, son, etc. or for the regular homeowner.
