Perhaps a sign of the times that you can advertise 10% off and call it a Huge sale. But I bit on a backordered Metabo 10Ah battery from Acme.

I agree, 10% only covers our TN sales tax. Not enough motivation to move the needle. I put items in an Acme Tools cart, one item 3-5 weeks backordered. Ordered same items on Amazon for only $10 more ($300 total) and for both to arrive this week.
These are puny sales. Retailers should do better.

The Metabo # 625549000 battery that I bought was priced at $208.63 minus 10% at Acme – but was backordered. I added 2 other small items to get free shipping. Amazon – only had a 3rd party seller asking an outrageous $428.78. I could find nothing below $237 – plus shipping elsewhere on the Internet (with no 100% assurance of stock status) – so thought that the wait from Acme still made their price with 10% off a good deal.

Assuming ACME honors it. They cancelled an order of mine saying Makita would not provide a shipping timeline. No, they mispriced it and lied. It was an XGT mower, dual charger and 2 8 mAh batteries. I get mistakes happen, the lying though loses my business. And HUGE is click bait nonsense.

The way I figure it, 10% off is the best one can hope for between the winter holiday season and maybe “tax day” sales in 2 months.
Maybe *huge* was a bit of an overstatement, I was just excited to see promos other than the “buy more save more” variety.

I’m usually buying for gift-giving. For Christmas gifts – it’s customary for me to wait on November sales. For what I wanted last year – they too were a bit lackluster – and i don’t expect 2023 will bring anything spectacular. But since my family’s children, grandchildren, nephews et. al. did not all come into the world on or near Christmas – I find that looking for what sales might come up at other times is still useful. I have a summer “birthday boy” who’s looking for a Mafell cordless cross cutting saw. I plan to buy that this month to avoid the typical Spring price increase. The Metabo batteries and charger for the saw – I’m buying separately – trying to source them at better prices with shipping costs included. So I’ll be OK if my Acme backorder is fulfilled by June.

Fred, Timberwolf tools sent an e-mail out that Mafell is raising their prices by an average of 9%.

Thanks for the tip. My order went in today. If it is indeed a 9% increase – I will have saved $129. Of course, I could have saved more with a gift of something other than Mafell.
That’s sort of like the Vaudeville joke – where the Top Banana’s wife tells him that she just saved him $1000. She explains that mink coats were on sale for $500 off – so she bought 2.

Meh, Menards restarted their 11% off perpetual sale again this week.
And being that home depot matches competitors deals, it means home depot is also having an 11% off sale.
So that’s a little nicer than a one-day 10% deal.

Juist to clarify for those that may not be familiar with the HD 11% match – it is in store purchases only and the store has to be within a certain radius of a Menards. They also seem to add exclusions pretty regularly. But still, it can be a nice deal and I use it pretty regularly.

There are no west coast Menards. And I’ve actually looked at their site and wished they were regardless of any discount. Big box wise we’re stuck with the Depot and the truly adrift Lowes.
Thank goodness we’ve some serious local pro tool vendors though.

Then we’re told: “Oh, here a HUGE sale!”
10%. Yeah. Sure. And it’s not stackable with other promotions, not even to get free shipping.
If you needed something, you’d already have bought it. And if you didn’t need it, this so-called sale totally didn’t change my mind. Y’all gotta try harder to convince me to part with my money.
