Preview of Bosch’s New PS41 Compact Impact Driver

Just when we thought we covered all of Bosch’s new 12V compact lithium ion cordless tools, we caught a glimpse of one more, the new PS41-2A impact driver. The PS41 is an update to the venerable but dated PS40, and like Bosch’s new PS21 pocket driver and PS31 drill/driver, the new impact driver appears to have been significantly redesigned.

Update: Final PS41 features and specs have been announced, and it is available for preorder. Check out our more recent post here.

Bosch PS41 Compact Impactor Features

Right now we don’t know the full specs of the PS41, but we do know that it is just over 5″ long, and that it can output 930 in-lbs of maximum torque. Bosch is also saying that this tool features almost 50% more speed, but we’re not sure if this is in relation to other tools, or the PS40 impact driver, the PS41’s predecessor.

Bosch PS41 vs. PS40 Impact Driver Comparison

As with the new PS21 and PS31 tools, the PS41 is touted as packing more power into an even smaller package. Whereas the PS40 could output a max torque of 800 in-lbs with a head length of 6-1/2″, the PS41 delivers 930 in-lbs with a head length of ~5″. This equates to a 16% increase in max power and a reduction in size by more than 20%!

The PS41 also features an improved 3-LED light ring to illuminate work areas, and incorporates a battery gauge above the trigger.

As of now, everything we know or can surmise about the PS41 comes from a video uploaded by Bosch’s Power Tool BlueCrew4 team on YouTube. Since the PS41 is not listed on Bosch’s spring rebate form, we can only assume that it won’t be released until the summer. We will keep you updated as details are made available in upcoming months.

Now that Bosch has revamped much of their ultra-compact 12V Max lineup, we will be eagerly waiting and watching to see what they come up with next. Perhaps a new cutting tool or saw to complement the PS50 oscillating multi-tool and PS70 metal shears.

Bosch’s 24V batteries should be available via Bosch distributors. A quick search shows it to be available at Amazon.
