Radians-Made Dewalt Goggles are Now Made in Taiwan – When Did that Happen?

Dewalt Concealer Safety Goggles

I needed to order some Sugru from Amazon with same-day delivery ($17 for an 8-pack), but needed a few more eligible items to break the threshold for free shipping. Otherwise there would have been a $5.99 fee.

I’ve had another pair of Dewalt Concealer safety goggles go bad on me, where some kind of coating flakes off certain areas of the lens, so I ordered a replacement.

I wrote about and recommended these safety goggles a number of times, most recently in my Best Safety Goggles post.

The last time I ordered them, they arrived in different packaging. This time too, they arrived in a box.

What the heck, made in Taiwan? Seriously? The last I checked, they were made in the USA. I noted this in my review back in 2010. I don’t think I was wrong, so I guess the country of origin changed.

Radians’ Cloak goggles cost a few dollars more. Could it be that the Radians version is made in the USA and the Dewalt version in Taiwan? Radians makes these for Dewalt.

I’m not very annoyed by this, just surprised.

I’ll be checking out the Uvex Stealth ($12 via Amazon), since my other favorite goggles pick, the Uvex Flex Seal aren’t available for quick shipping. Maybe I’ll check my usual industrial suppliers next.

If you’ve bought a new pair of Radians Cloak glasses, are they still made in the USA, or has their production been moved to Taiwan as well?

Can anyone recommend a decent pair of safety glasses that fit over eyeglasses? Most of the ones you can buy at big box stores really fall short on comfort and visibility.

I don’t think good over glasses safety glasses exist. I just switched to using a full face shield.

I have never found good over-the-glasses safety glasses, only goggles.

I use “Crews OG110AF Law Over The Glass Polycarbonate Clear Anti-Fog Lens Safety Glasses with Hybrid Black Temple Sleeve”. They are available on Amazon.

I have a pair of over-the-glasses safety glasses that are really good, they are just older 3M glasses they likely don’t make anymore.

They do make a similar style, the 3M 1611HC, which is pretty close to what the ones I have are, just in a fancier design with logos and flair.

I also like the 3M safety goggles, though it’s harder to find the ones with perforated holes around the outer perimeter, rather than the chemical splash goggles with vents.

Get a pair of Uvex stealth goggles, they are awesome been using them over my glasses for years now. They provide great protection and clarity, have yet to find any othergoggles that can seriously rival them for the money. I wanna say i paid around $14.00 for mine on amazon.

After getting some grinding flak in my eye while wearing safety glasses,I decided to get these goggles. They are comfy for extended periods which is what i needed.

Have you tried wearing them with a half face respirator ( like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008MCUULW) ?

All of the goggles I’ve tried work reasonably okay with a half face respirator. The seal has been good, with fogging up being the biggest issue for me.

I think the Stealth is a little smaller than the Flex Seal.

I’ve always liked UVEX stuff so I guess I may have to get a pair to try out the next time I’m doing something “stupid” like blowing insulation.

I prefer full face protection, especially after taking some metal shrapnel to the cheek.

I prefer the Uvex Bionic Shield. Not only can I wear my prescription lenses, but the shield lenses are replaceable.

Seems like more US jobs gone. It won’t stop until we’re just a consumer nation. Makes me sad.

Just had a pair if Radians Cloak DMG-11 goggles delivered from Amazon. Packaging is marked “Made in Taiwan”. They were a few dollars more than the Dewalt branded version.
