If you asked me a year ago what I thought about RAZOR-BACK tools, I wouldn’t have much of an answer for you. Ask me now, and I’ll tell you that I’m impressed.
RAZOR-BACK sent over a few tools for testing and review, and I’m happy to say that they’re proving to be very well built, and have a number of user-friendly features.

While I would like to call these lawn and garden tools, they’re really robust enough for everyday professional use.
We partnered with RAZOR-BACK in order to give (1) new tool to each of (5) lucky winners!
The Prize: Your choice of new RAZOR-BACK tool!
Prize Selection
Each winner will pick (1) tool of their choice as their prize.
RAZOR-BACK SuperSocket Shovel
Advertisement
This is the ultimate round point shovel! Its SuperSocket handle connection means added strength and durability, a large forward step means easier digging, and the premium 48-inch ash wood handle is comfortable to use.
Plus, the shovel’s made in the USA. What more could you ask for?
RAZOR-BACK Fiberglass Forged Bow Rake
At the action end you have a one-piece forged 15-tine steel rake head, and at the other you have a long and light 60-inch fiberglass handle. A steel ferrule locks the rake head and handle together.
Do you need to spread some mulch? Break up and loosen soil? Level garden areas prior to planting seeds for the season? This is the rake you want.
RAZOR-BACK Steel Rake
Nobody likes to rake leaves, but at least this rake is easier on your arms and back. It is built with a 24-tine steel rake head and a light yet comfortable 54.5-inch fiberglass handle.
RAZOR-BACK Steel Tamper 10″ x 10″
If you don’t know what a steel tamper is, you probably don’t need one. But if you do need one, this one’s hard to beat. It has a one-piece 10″ x 10″ tamper surface and steel handle. A cushion grip makes it easier and more comfortable to securely grip the handle.
Use it on soil, stone, gravel, asphalt, or other types of loose materials you need to level.
Why? I haven’t used these tools for years, but I tested them enough to know that they’re pretty darned good. RAZOR-BACK tools are strong, yet light and comfortable to use. They’re a nice step up from a lot of the lesser tools I’ve seen or used in the past.
How to Enter: Leave a comment with a brief note about which tool you’d like to win, and how you would use it. Or simply tell us why you want to win one.
Winner Selection: (5) winners will be selected at random, and each will be asked to choose (1) prize from among the options discussed above.
Rules: You must have a non-PO Box continental USA address. Entry period ends Friday, June 20th, 2014. One entry per person.
Prize Fulfillment: RAZOR-BACK is supplying the products for the giveaway and will ship the prizes directly to the winners.
Matt
I could really use that steel tamper. I do quite a bit of concrete work and the ones I have bought in the past just don’t hold up handle wise. I like the one piece design of this tool. Looks like its something that will last a lifetime if cared for properly.
Joel
I live right next to a huge tree. That steel rake would be quite a good looking upgrade.
Russell Berger
That Steel Tamper would come in handy leveling out some landscaping work, as well as the re-do of my small back paver patio I plan to tackle. TIA
Stan
Although this is very unlikely I will win, I am very much interested in that made in the United States of America Razor Back model number 45530.
This shovel would be a great for when I help a friend dig out all the irrigation lines in his backyard, but also when I help them install new plants as well.
Thank you very much for this giveaway Stuart.
Ryan Conner
That round point shovel would be great to help hide the bodies.
Ben Rusholme
The tamper, for flattening all the gopher damage!
Bob K
I always liked a good steel rake, mine is getting old and tattered.
Kevin
I could sure use the shovel if it were an option – doing a fair bit of landscaping around the house this summer. If not the shovel, 2nd place would be the bow rake, again for landscaping. Thanks!
MT_Noob
I could use either the shovel or the tamper. I have some landscaping that I have been putting off for too ling, and either one could possibly convince me to start that project. Could I reserve final judgement for later?
Daniel Crandall
I have been using an rusty, splinter handled shovel since a concrete contractor stole my then new Razorback. I would love to replace it with another Razorback shovel.
If not the shovel, then a nice rake.
Thank you.
mike
I’d sure love that shovel for all sorts of yard chores.
Chris
Tamper! Id love one of these tampers.. I’ve been doing a few DIY paver areas and this bad boy would really come in handy. Next project, grill patio paver area! Help me out please!
cory
The shovel would be great, I bought a home and it would be great help.
ChrisK1970
I could use any of these on my huge landscaping project I started last month. It is a summer and fall long project that is going to include fences, pergolas and hopefully a new deck! I just put in a huge garden and am going to expand that next summer!
John G.
That steel tamper would sure make life easier for me and my boy making his bmx track!
joe
I could sure use any one of these for honey dos.
Funny how wives know the value of our time is zero on the weekends!
Destry
Bow rake. I like it.
John S
I really could use that rake around my yard a few months from now – sounds like Razor-back makes some quality yard tools!
Amy Orvin
I’d love to win the Razor-Back Steel Rake because I have a huge magnolia tree in the front yard that just rains leaves everyday from April ’til July. This would be great for tackling that job. Thanks.
Eric Baar
Reseeding and re-sodding lawn and the Razor-Back Fiberglass Forged Bow Rake
would be PERFECT for ground preparation.
Tommy
I could use a good leaf rake. The Razorback steel rake looks like it would fit the bill. My wife and kids are hard on the yard tools. I ususlly have to police the yard before mowing. Seems like the job is never done till the tools are put away……..by me!
4 strokes
That beautiful shovel. I have 35 fruit trees to plant this summer…
Sue
I’d love to win one of any of these tools for my gardening this year.
Henry H.
I’d love either of the rakes. My bow and leaf/brush rakes were purchased before I had the appreciation that spending the extra money to buy good tools was well worth the extra saving!
Either one would be a great replacement for my box store value models.
Robert M.
I run a 7.5 acre Senior Apartment complex, and that Razor-Back Steel Rake would sure come in handy.
Eric S.
I would love to have the tamper. I have a concrete pad and a cobblestone patio that I need to lay. That would help a lot.
rshadd
My dog ate my last bamboo rake. A steel rake for me please.
Bob
I could use the steel rake for pulling weeds and just general raking purposes.
Ben
I could really use that steel bow rake to take up much of the dead grass that plagues my yard, and to spread the soon to be delivered giant pile of mulch that will be tidying up the entire line of my house. I have their shovel that I purchased at Home Depot and it was worth EVERY penny when I pulled up 8 over grown bushes in the front of my home.
Mike Ryan
The tamper would be great for two upcoming outdoor projects I have planned. Don’t currently have one so winning this would be great. Thanks and good luck to all.
Blythe M
Shovel or tamper would be most excellent
Kimber Janney
I would love to give the tamper a try; wooden handles break so quickly on these, steel should last much longer.
But its me!
I would like the tamper to finally get around to making a nice sand base for a patio, but don’t tell my wife!
Joshua Latham
I would love that shovel, but I really need the tamper. I am currently digging some footings for my bedroom addition and I plan on pouring some walkways and landings. I have been contemplating welding a steel plate to a piece of pipe and making my own tamper, but the Razorback tamper would be a much better option. Thanks Stuart and keep up the great site!
Matthew
You can never have too many lawn tools. The steel take would be my first choice because of the pine cones & leaves! Helps to rake the lawn after a project at work too! Siding, windows, etc. thanks for the opportunity!
Nathan
I really could put any of these tools up work, but the shovel is my choice because out would get the most use. Thanks for the chance to win.
German Lopez
I could use that steel rake. I have a plastic rake that broke after the first use so its very flimsy and bends too much.
Farid Masri
A quality steel rake is the difference between a really lousy fall weekend job and a ho-hum fall weekend job (;-)
Adabhael
That SuperSocket Shovel looks awfully nice for working in rocky ground, and I think it would get the most use generally. Thanks for running another giveaway.
Bob L.
My wife and I are in the yard and garden for most of every weekend and evenings during the week.
These tools look to be very sturdy and would be put to good use.
river1
in near future i plan on buying a fix-up property so any of these would get lots of use, but the tamper or bow rack would be my choise
thanks stuart and razor-back
later jim
Mahalo
The steel tamper would be nice to have. Every once in awhile, the need arises, and I have had to resort to less than ideal methods. I have a small area where I’d like to put some pavers down, and need a tamper like this.
Yadda
Thanks Toolguyd and Razor-back for this great giveaway!!!!!
The steel leaf rake would be my choice. I have a small urban yard, but I have huge trees and a neighbor with a magnolia. Every late fall through late spring I am cleaning up leaves from the three leaf drops that occur in or around my house. A professional grade rake would really help get the leaves out of the St. Augustine grass and make my lawn tidy.
Mike47
Shovel looks nice… could use a new one.
david
I sure would love a purty new digging shovel..
Dan
Definately the Tamper. Doing alot this summer, but I guess anything would be great.
Russ
Razorback tools look like they would make easy work of my chores.
Brett
That awesomely made in the USA Fiberglass Forged Bow Rake would sure help me out with my farming chores. Regardless if I win or not, I will probably get one because I do my best to support products made in America. Plus my wife decided to use my other rake to move around a little brush fire and melted the handle…sheer genius.
James
I could rake my lawn in much less time with the RAZOR-BACK Steel Rake since it is so much wider than the one I have now.
Jesse Ross
Think of all the injustice one could Tamp down with that Tamper!
The Dude Abides
I could really use a new shovel, my current one is probably older than I am and is very tired! I have a large yard that needs some landscape work and this would be perfect!
Mikhal
Just bought a new house…could use the steel rake!
Chuck
I could sure use the shovel, got lots of yard work to go and the old shovel is broken,
Jerrod
I’ve got 10 acres of landscaping and I’m 5 years behind ;). Probably pick the tamper but my old shovel could certainly use an upgrade.
RKA
I thought to myself, nobody is going to want the tamper…and then read the comments! It would appear it’s the single most desired item here! I need one to fix a hole to china that has developed between my asphalt driveway and the concrete apron for the garage.
Troy
My landscaper swears by razorback shovels. I need to try a rake.
John Sullivan
I’d like to throw my hat in the ring for the steel rake. My current one is probably older than I am, has tines that are missing and bent in all directions, and the wooden handle is more splinter than grip. A new fiberglass-handled Razor-Back would be a very nice upgrade. Thank you!
Mitch
I would like to win the rake because my current one isn’t in very good shape
Dan
The steep stamper would come in handy for a paver driveway I want to put in once it cools down here in AZ!!!
Coach James
The shovel as I have gone through two shovels in the last year. I take care of two houses plus a commercial property and there is always yard work to be done.
Eduard
I’d love to have the tamper. One of my projects is to build a chicken coop with a run.So I gonna need a lot of tampering
Greg
That tamper would be a great help!
Al B.
The tamper looks good to me.
I’m building a small shop. I will install a wood floor, and the tamper will go a long way towards getting the gravel level and compacted.
Kyle
The Razorback tamper would be a most welcome addition to my tool collection as I gear up for installing a patio and tackling some overdue landscape & drainage improvements.
Dahna
Drool. That shovel would be great for digging potatoes soon. I sure could have used it on the 25 plum trees we planted this spring. And the fiberglass handle on the rake would sure be lighter in my hands. Drool.
Chris B
I would really like that shovel. I have been using an old wood handle shovel that was my grandfathers up until recently when it snapped in half. With three kids and three dogs I spend ALOT of time filling in holes all over the backyard. Currently still using my old one with a broken handle lol.
Don
Another vote for the tamper. Tired of using my sledge when I shouldn’t. Oh the shame!
Eric
I certainly have projects that the Tamper would be very very helpful for (I will be putting in a pathway of pavers)… but in the long run the Shovel is going to be way more useful.
firefly
Beside leaves we also have pine needle and they are a pain to clean up. I think the Steel Rake would help. But if there is any other suggestion I am all ears.
Bob B
The tamper would be great to use when doing repairs to in-ground lawn sprinklers.
MarkT
I need that RAZOR-BACK Fiberglass Forged Bow Rake for my new yard. Thanks!
ACAZ
The RAZOR-BACK Steel Tamper would be nice for the patio I plan to work on soon
Stan
Stuart, have the winners already been selected?
Or did I miss the post that announced this?
Henry
I was one of the winners, and chose the bow rake, as mine was a super cheapo, bend when you look at it, variety.
I’ve used it a few times since, prepping some new garden beds, raking out some fill, etc, and I’ve got to say, it’s a GREAT rake!
The handle makes it super light, but it’s still incredibly stiff. The head of the rake is built very well, and should take regular beatings without flinching.
Thanks ToolGuyd, and Razor-Back!
Stan
I figured this giveaway would be similar to that 3M giveaway and maybe you’d receive something, but potentially not. I’ve long given up expecting that free helmet, but was given one recently.
Glad to know there was a winner. I wasn’t one of them, but that is alright. I bought a 100% USA made shovel at Harry J Epstein’s during Epstein Day, so I don’t need another shovel now.
Stuart
This was a giveaway with only a couple of prizes, not a free sample signup. If it makes you feel better, I never received my helmet either.
