Reader Review – Craftsman Double Ring Stool

ToolGuyd reader SharkBreath dropped us a note about a checkered stool he found at his local Sears.

I found these stools at my local Sears in Daytona. They are marked $24.99 on clearance from $29.99. It’s only a $5 savings, but these stools are the nice sturdy, double ring design. I already own one stool with the Craftsman logo and it’s handled much abuse over the years.

Assembly time was 10 minutes and that included enjoying an iced libation. The hardware included nylock nuts for the rings. A nice touch.

Thanks for the review, SharkBreath!

I spotted this stool (model # 940796) along with a Craftsman-logoed model at my local Sears as well, and felt compelled to give the stools a quick try. What I found was that the stools were in fact quite comfortable, except when sitting right on the edge. Even though I was quite surprised as to how decent the stools were, especially given the $25-30 pricetags, I remembered that I didn’t need a new stool, and left the store without one.

Given how fond SharkBreath seems to be of these stools, I may have to go back and pick one up after all!

I agree the Craftsman Double Ring Stool is a well built stool for the garage! This stool is on clearance now at Sears for $ 17.97+tax, I suggest you get one before all sold out! 5.6.10

Strange enough, Sears’ website is calling the Craftsman logo stool a “new item” (of course at full price), and the checkered one is only available as “Garage King” branded.

Thanks Scott for the update! I assume that the clearance is taking place in-store, presumably to clear some space for Father’s Day stock.
