Ridgid R45161 Table Saw

The Ridgid R45161 portable table saw is available once more, and it’s on sale for $199. There are a couple of table saw deals going on right now, including one with the excellent Dewalt DW745, but as far as I am aware this is the only pro-brand saw selling for under $300, let alone under $200.

Check out all the other Home Depot Black Friday 2014 tool deals!

This is a 10-inch saw with 15A 5,000 RPM motor, 3.25″ max cutting capacity at 90°, 36″ table width, and 24″ max right side rip capacity. It comes will all the necessary blade guarding and safety features, a miter gauge, and push stick.

Seems like a good deal for $199.

One thing to be mindful of is that this isn’t a regularly stocked item. It seems to a holiday-timed special buy that pops up every couple of years, instead of every year.

The Ridgid R4513 portable table saw and stand combo is also on sale for the holidays, with a $399 price tag. That saw has excellent reviews year-round.

Thanks for the heads up Stuart.

I went and looked at this one today at HD and then the Kobalt Table Saw with the wheeled folding stand for $199. They’re both very similar and I actually liked the Kobalts Fence more with the rear locking clamp on the fence making it very stiff and easy to square up. I found a Lowes $20 off for $100 so it ended up being $179 so Cobalt won out as I needed one with a folding wheeled stand, the stand version of the Ridgid was way more $$ but beefier. Neither are bad and lets not get confused, this is not a Bosch but then it’s not $600 either but both are much better than the other saws in this price category. They also take a dado unlike the Dewalt’s.

While some small saws have a long enough arbor to mount a dado set – some are underpowered enough that a 6 inch set might be worth considering

i went and looked at both and chose the ridgid. something about the kobalt just felt a little cheaper to me. YMMV. both seemed like good deals. I would have liked the stand but couldn’t get past the feeling i should buy the ridgid. I’m a pretty die hard Dewalt guy but couldn’t swing the extra $130 for the one i wanted. seemed like too much more money just for a better fence.

Tim, have you used the saw yet? I was wondering how you would review it after use. thanks

I picked this up today — one of the last four or five in the area, apparently — but am confused; I thought the most current version was the R45161 but my box and serial tag both say R4561. Not sure if there is much of a difference, but the HD reviews for my model seem to be somewhat older than those for the 45161.

They also have the Dewalt DW745 online at Home Depot for $225. I was going to pickup the Rigid, but couldn’t pass this one up: http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-15-Amp-10-in-Compact-Job-Site-Table-Saw-DW745/100497987
