We were quite surprised to see Ridgid tools amongst the selection at Amazon yesterday as we searched for a new sander. While refurbished Ridgid tools and certain specialty tools have been available, mostly via 3rd party vendors, for a while now, this is the first time we’ve seen new mainstream Ridgid tools sold directly by Amazon.

There are definitely great deals to be had, but we noticed that some of the available Ridgid tools were priced a bit higher than at Home Depot – just something to be aware of.

    You always should comparason shop.
I have noticed a trend towards prices higher then comparable local roducts in the items sold by Amazon themselves.

Yes, I usually price-check anything I’m looking to purchase from Amazon. Sites like beatmyprice.com or google product search are good ones. I have no affiliation with those sites, just sharing some knowledge.

    Jay,

Google’s product search is decent, and can be useful but it’s also good to check the prices at your favorite retailers manually.

One of the reasons to do a manual comparison is because many retailers are not listed on Google’s product search, pricegrabber, or on similar sites.

Also, since price comparison sites are automatically updated and maintained, they can be wrong, especially in regard to retailers like Amazon that have fluctuating prices.
