Rolair AirStak – an Air Compressor in a Systainer Tool Box

Rolair AirStak Air Compressor in a Systainer Tool Box

This is the the Rolair AirStak, a 1.6 gallon air compressor built into a Systainer T-Loc tool box.

Judging by the specs, the Rolair AirStak is a fairly capable compact compressor bundled in a popular modular stacking tool box form factor.

Specs

  • 1HP
  • 1.6 gal capacity
  • 2.0 CFM at 90 PSI
  • 70 dBA noise level
  • Weighs 28 pounds
  • 8A power draw (running)

Senco and Schneider Systainer Air Compressors

The new Rolair AirStak Systainer compressor looks similar to Senco and Schneider models that have been available in Europe.

If there’s interest, I can try to dig deeper to see how the AirStak might differ from other similar-looking Systainer air compressor models.

What’s curious is that there was a Cadex Systainer tool box-based air compressor that was announced a little more than a year ago, but it seemed to have never made it to market. Maybe there’s a company that has patent protection over this type of design, or something of the sort.

Rolair is a good brand when it comes to portable air compressors.

Having an air compressor in a form factor like this will cost you quite a bit more than if you were to buy a model with a more traditional design. Consider Rolair’s JC10, for example. The JC10, currently $290 at Amazon, has a 2.5 gallon air tank, 1HP rating, and delivers 2.35 CFM at 90 PSI.

But if your work is centered around Festool or Tanos Systainer tool boxes, having an air compressor fit to the same form factor can save you a bit of time in how you work or move your tools and equipment around. Saved time or effort comes at a price.

Mafell started carrying a similar as of december 2017.

Can only find dutch listings though (while they are German).

499 EUR excluding VAT, I would go for a Mafell over a other brands any day of the week. Admittedly I’m not familiar with Rolair ๐Ÿ™‚

Is it weird that every time I see the word “Mafell” the Temptations song “My Girl” pops into my head and the words “my girl” in the song get replaced with “Mafell”?

Lol it’s a jingle that would work. I think it’s because I hold them as the pinnacle of power tools.

The price is a joke , I have the JC 10 and itโ€™s a better compressor at a much cheaper price. Itโ€™s for the guy with money to burn looks like

To be fair, Rolair does not make this nor the JC 10. The JC 10 (and air buddy) are made in China. I’m not sure where the Airstack is made, but it’s a rebadged Schneider that usually commends the same price when resold under different brands. Regardless, both are items they resell and I suspect they have to pay a lot
      more for the Schneider product.

There is a niche market that has been asking for a 110v model for years, and Rolair is simply going out of their way to meet that demand. The scenario is actually no different than models like the JC-10: Most people want an inexpensive compressor and some of those people are also willing to pay an extra $10 for the assurance that it has been inspected by the importer instead of just shipped direct to distributors and stores from overseas manufacturers. Rolair fills that niche with with their imported line.

As for getting the most raw performance out of your dollar; their USA made lineup definitely delivers.

I have a small a workshop, space is at a premium. I don’t need a compressor that often, if ever, but if the price comes down Iโ€™d be interested.

I’ve been waiting for this for quite some time. I gat a sneak peak a few years back when Festool used to do road shows. There was a lot of buzz in the crowd about it and then…nothing. Had no idea the Europeans actually got the thing. Rolair is a good choice, as Joe said, they are top notch. I’ve gone completely cordless now, but have compatriots that would never give up the pneumatics. This would be ideal for them. There are many jobs where space is a premium and saving space in the truck or trailer usually allows for the expansion of the arsenal. In the world of Festool, that’s not a crazy price.

I have a rolair bull I bought from Zoro with a 25% off coupon that I’ve been quite happy with. I’ve even used it with a cheap harbor freight spray gun to spray some wood projects and it keeps up with it.

I just bought a rolair systak compressor this week. It arrived today. I took it out of the box and there is a giant sticker on the side of it that says LWA 95 DB. The manufacturer’s current website specifications and all the advertisements for this compressor show it as 70 DB. Any thoughts on this one?

DeWALT should make one like this AC/DC 60V Flexvolt Toughsystem compatible.
