Home Depot has some “Special Buy” Ryobi 18V One+ cordless woodworking tool combos, priced at $99 each. These are online-only specials. Shipping is free, but you can also opt for in-store pickup, it’ll just take a while since they would have to be shipped there.
The first combo combines a router, 1/4 sheet sander, 1.3Ah battery, and charger. Here are the model numbers and regular prices for the items in this kit:
- P440 1/4 sheet sander ($40)
- P601 trim router ($69)
- P102 battery ($39)
- P118 charger ($40)*
*This is the price for the newer P117 charger, the P118 charger doesn’t seem to be sold at Home Depot anymore.
If you total the value of the tools in the kit, you get a retail price of $188. You can get a P117 charger and P102 battery starter kit for $59, and so a more realistic price would be $168. Buying this kit for $99 looks to give you a healthy 41% savings.
The second combo consists of three different Ryobi 18V cordless sanders, a charger, and 1.3Ah battery. Again, here are the model numbers and prices for the individual tools in this kit:
- P440 1/4 sheet sander ($40)
- P411 random orbit sander ($40)
- P401 corner cat sander ($35)
- P102 battery and P118 charger ($59)
The total price of the tools in this kit would be $174, and so you’d save 43% if you buy this $99 bundle.
There’s one last combo that is out of stock right now, but I’m going to include it in case it goes back into stock. On the product page, you can sign up to have Home Depot email you if this combo is restocked.
This kit doesn’t come with a battery and charger. Rather it comes with three bare tools: a glue gun, trim router, and 1/4 sheet sander.
- P305 Glue Gun ($30)
- P440 1/4 Sheet Sander ($40)
- P601 Trim Router ($69)
This last combo isn’t as good of a deal as the others, as buying these tools separately would cost you $139. So buying this combo only saves you 29%. Still, $40 savings means you could consider the sheet sander or glue gun as a “free” bonus, if you were planning on buying the trim router and either of the other tools anyways.
Price: $99 (currently out of stock)
These special buy combo kits have been around for a while, but Stuart thought they might be a good post for this deal season.
Stuart’s Note: I actually don’t remember seeing them previously. There’s a Ridgid woodworking router and sander combo that comes around every year, but I haven’t been paying close attention to Ryobi bundles. I came across these when doing my usual “can I find tools that will be Black Friday specials?” scouting of new product listings, and they looked like very good bargains.
I spotted these deals a while ago as I’ve been watching the prices of cordless trim routers. I ultimately passed these deals up, since I already have better Ryobi batteries and have no desire to get a 1/4″ sheet sander.
That doesn’t mean that these won’t be great buys for somebody else looking to get into woodworking or who wants these particular tools. The two deals that are currently in stock will save you around 40% on buying the tools individually.
With the bundle savings, you’re effectively getting one of the tools, or the battery and charger starter kit, for free.
The only tool I’ve personally tried is the cordless hot glue gun. I picked one up as soon as they became available, to compare it to the Black & Decker hot glue gun. While the gun performs well, I prefer using the more expensive Black & Decker glue gun when I can steal it back from my crafting daughter.
