Ryobi designed their Tek4 cordless electronic tools around a nifty (and affordable) 4V lithium-ion rechargeable battery system. Ryobi’s main selling point is that use of this system will save on costs and waste compared to using traditional AA-based tools.
Products available as part of the Tek4 system:
- digital camera
- laser distance measuring tool
- noise suppression headphones
- IR thermometer
- self-leveling laser
- motion-sensing alarm
- digital multimeter
- high intensity flashlight
- portable power source
- digital key lockbox
- standard and rapid battery chargers
Work. Weather. Life. is the motto of the Tek4 system, but the introductory video clip places emphasis on how many AA batteries one could save if they use the Tek4 system instead.
To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the Tek4 product line after seeing the display at the store, so I will avoid sharing my impression of it for the time being.
Ryobi Tek4 tools are available (exclusively) at The Home Depot.
