The Shop Fox W1746 Fine Air Filter features a 0.3 micron filter to clean the air of smaller particles that many woodworking dust collection and air filtration systems might miss. The air cleaner has 3 fan settings (100, 140 and 200 CFM), 4 fan-off delay settings, an automatic shut-off and a rather small footprint.
At $100-$150 the Shop Fox W1746 is reasonably modestly, and replacement filters are about $11 each.

I’ve been on the lookout for a decent compact air cleaner setup, and the Shop Fox looked to fit the bill. The unit I ordered from Amazon should be arriving in a few days, so a review is imminent.

I appreciate your reviews and have been hoping to see the follow up to the Shop Fox W1746 filter. Is it a keeper, or was it a bust? I have been thinking this might be a good way to go, but I am hoping to hear about you experience. Thanks!
Stuart
I probably should have reviewed the unit by now, sorry about that. Overall its performance is good, but also rather unremarkable. It’s a secondary air cleaner that I use after particularly dusty work.
I think it’s a keeper, but it’s not a replacement for a regular woodworking air cleaner. If I had a full-size air cleaner rather than the compact half-size Jet I bought a while back, and the ability to properly mount it from the ceiling, I probably wouldn’t feel the need for this as much.
It has a slimmer footprint than household air purifiers, so I sometimes use it for general air cleaning and not just for removing fine woodworking dust.
My only complaint is that the design seems a bit simple for what it costs. The price of replacement filters also increased by about $4-5 since two years ago.
I would definitely buy it again.

Where can I find the replacement filters for this unit. We have one but have a hard time finding the replacement filters.
Stuart
Right now the filter is out of stock on Amazon (link), and is massively over-priced. I don’t know who else might carry it.
