Snap-on CRKT Wrinkle Knife

Knifemaker CRKT and renown designer Ken Onion teamed up to create the new Wrinkle folding pocket knife for Snap-on. The Wrinkle knife features a high carbon steel blade with modified hollow ground drop point blade, a super-smooth IKBS bearing system, and anodized aluminum handle.

There are four color options: black (SEK74MAKK), orange (SEK74MAKO), green (SEK74MAKG), and red (SEK74MAKR).

Features

  • Japanese AUS 8 high carbon steel
  • Ambidextrous flipper with IKBS bearing system
  • Friction groove for positive engagement of thumb or index finger
  • 6061 T6 cold forged anodized aluminum scales
  • Liner lock with recessed liners and barrel spacers
  • Stainless steel tip-down pocket clip
  • Lanyard hole
  • Country of origin: Taiwan

MSRP is $125, and the web price is $127.50. Local Snap-on dealer prices might vary. You can purchase these knives via your local dealer, Snapon.com, or via Snap-on phone sales (877-762-7664).

First Impression

Don’t mistake this for the $10 licensed Snap-on knives you can buy at Amazon and Costco. Ken Onion knows how to design great knives, and CRKT knows how to make them.

I own and have used several Onion-designed knives, and they haven’t disappointed me yet. The Kershaw Leek (reviewed here) is one of my all-time favorite designs, and the CRKT Shenanigan Z and Foresight left me quite impressed.

The blade looks stout, the handle comfortable, and the IKBS bearing should provide for smooth and secure opening. Looks good to me. $125 seems like a fair price, but puts this knife above “who cares if I break or lose it” territory.

For that price and fact it’s made in Taiwan, which isn’t that bad, I am not sure I would spend that much money on this item myself. I can’t really say the overall appearance of this tool does much for me either.

I like the looks of them, but i can spend less, and get a Kershaw Ken Onion knife made in the USA for the same or less.

Picked up one for $7 used at the local swap meet, they open smoothly and are a great knife overall. The price new is high for a nin usa made knife.
