Over in our Free Dewalt Tstak on $50+ orders deal post, Sam asked about whether that Tstak tool box is compatible with this new Stanley FatMax Tstak tool box tower at Lowes.
Yes, it is compatible. But whaaaat? Stanley FatMax Tstak tool boxes?

The new Stanley FatMax Tstak tool box combo, model FMST60403P, comes with 3 components – a Tstak organizer with clear lid, a tool box, and a wheeled tool cart.
- TSTAK organizer clear lid, FMST17805
- TSTAK suitcase flat top, FMST17807
- TSTAK deep on wheels, FMST17820
Similar products are available from Dewalt, except for the deep tool box on wheels.
- Tstak Organizer , DWST17805, $25 at Amazon
- Tstak Tool Box, DWST17807, $16 at Amazon
There is a Dewalt Tstak deep box, DWST17806, for $25 via Amazon, but there’s no DWST17820 model – yet?

That rolling tool box is certainly new. The also new Dewalt Tough System wheeled tool box retails for $59. I’d have a very hard time believing that a smaller and lighter duty Tstak version would cost the same, let alone more. So for argument’s sake, let’s assume it would be priced at $49.
So with that guestimate, this Stanley FatMax Tstak tower should have an approximate retail price of $90. Let’s consider that the full retail price of the Tstak tool box is $23, as Amazon seems to be discounting it. With that in mind, my guestimate for the Tstak tower would bring me to a $97 price point. Maybe round up to $99.
No, that seems too high.

Husky’s new modular tool box tower is priced at $80. I think that we could or should see comparable pricing from this Stanley FatMax Tstak tool box tower. Maybe a slightly higher price of $89? Or slightly lower at $79? That’s doable, depending on how the rolling tool box is designed and how much it’s engineered to retail for.
Lowes’ retail price for the Tstak tower is $119. Given that the Ridgid Pro tool storage combo retails for $98 or so during holiday season peaks, $119 is too much for this Tstak combo – in my humble opinion.
Maybe there could be a $25 (organizer), $20 (tool box), $45 (rolling tool box) breakdown, given that the deep Tstak tool box without wheels is $25. That could bring us to the $90 price.
I hate to be hung up on the price, because Dewalt (or Stanley FatMax) Tstak tool boxes are decent for the money. But $119? No way. Let’s see what the price changes to in a month’s time, when the holiday season kicks into full effect around Thanksgiving.

Thank you Sam for the heads-up!
Now here’s the question that will be bugging me: why relabel these as Stanley FatMax for Lowes and possibly other markets, instead of just keeping the strong Dewalt branding?
Unless of course the products are different in some way than the Dewalt versions, but I doubt that this is the case, and seriously hope I’m not wrong.
Dennis
I feel there will be a drastic price drop “sale” between Thanksgiving and Christmas. And possibly again after Christmas if they don’t move enough inventory.
Right now you can get a Tstak deep box for $25 I’m just speculating by looking at the pictures, but it looks like the Stanley Tstak cart is a little bigger than the size of the deep box and has cheap looking solid plastic wheels, and a handle. those parts shouldn’t add more than $15. So that’s about $40 an organizer is $25 that’s $65. And as we learned earlier this morning Dewalt/Stanley is willing to throw in the toolbox for free if you spend over $50 with them. So by my completely unscientific approximation the whole thing should cost $65.

Yeah it’s called Black Friday!
Sam
I would probably buy it to the Tstak system at the $65-$70 price point for the set and pick up other sizes to store my misc. sanders, saws etc… I do not really need the job site rated Ridgid or ToughSystem but will be looking at those as well when black friday pricing deals are released.

I actually saw a set of these in sears, and they are slightly different than the dewalt in subtle ways, similar to how dewalt has come out with a budget friendly tough system organiser that’s missing some of the frills.( I.e. less dividers, blocked out sections that are case support sections rather than more storage) I couldn’t tell if the material was any different, but the design definitely is. I love stanley black and decker, but they really tend to get out of hand with sharing the concepts from one of their subsidiaries with others. I think it cheapens the the whole idea and steals from each individual company’s identity. And that’s why bostitch makes power tools now.

Stanley & husky modular boxes=meh.
Not excited at ALL about the husky.
The stanley i would probably be excited if i had some dewalt- i would now have more options at a different price point.
Love my ridgid boxes. Ive had one for two years now that usually lays+slides in the back of my truck and carries like 60-100lbs of my 1/2″ drive sockets, ratchets, extentions and cordless impact, on occasion includes some 3/4 sockets, breaker bar and combination wrenches for roadside repairs.
After being thoughly abused harshly i just bought a the 3 for $99 around fathers day.

Not sure if they r still a thing . We had fat max power tools in canada for a while . It was all just porter cable or dewalt stuff I thought . I think they use the fat max name in stores they can’t get the de Walt name into . Or have licensing deals with other brands preventing them from going as big on dewalt so sbd offered up fat max . Now to be honest other than a few tape measures and hammers . Never see much fat max stuff around

Why not just buy the ridged tool box combo set? That thing is a beaut
Stuart
Size? Cost?
These are all great options, with each having their own slight advantages.

With the DeWalt DS450 Toughsystem @$59 you are not going to get a better box for the money…..you get what you pay for.

I have the FatMax rolling toolbox when I work in airbrushing. Looking fitter an additional box for the top. Do they make boxes to add on?
Stuart
TStak? Yes, Dewalt boxes should fit too.

saw this at LOWES today:

As Phil mentioned the dewalt tstak is now available in red trim and craftsman “system tower” branding as well as the stanley fatmax branding.
I picked up 2 of the stanley towers from lowes. 1 for $60 at black Friday and 1 for $69 for new years.
Lowes is currently carrying both the stanley one $99 clearance and the craftsman one for $89.
So far I’ve only seen individual components branded as dewalt.
I looked at the dewalt tough system before going this route. The tstak line is lighter weight (good and bad) and slightly smaller. I’m getting roll around storage because of back issues and moving electronics, computers, parts, accessories, and tools. So for me the lighter weight is a plus and it’s still durable enough for what I need. Plus it fits in the trunk for when I’m driving the car.
If you need something to throw in the back of a pickup, take to a jobsite, and expose to the elements, spend more and get the tough system or similar system.

Can I attach or is there a way I can attach my stanley tool organisers to my tstak system.or visa versa ??
Stuart
Not that I know of, unless they’re TStak-compatible from the start.
