Over at Walmart, they have a 4-pack of Stanley LeverLock tape measures, priced at $10.
A lot of people like the LeverLock tape measures because of how easy they are to use. It auto-locks the tape, and a quick squeeze of the “lever” at the bottom releases the lock.

I have one (it’s around here somewhere), and I do like it. Its self-locking mechanism comes in handy at times.

If you’re looking for a more traditional tape measure style, there are some current Craftsman tape measures deals, including a 4-pack of hi-visibility tapes for $10.

I already have 10 or so tape measures, including one of these in 25′ which is my favorite tape to keep at the miter saw and table saw, as well as doing any kind of flat layout. Problem is no matter how many tapes I buy, I can never seem to find them anywhere when I need one. Wherever they do run off to, they always seem to take the black Sharpies and any mechanical pencil with lead in it with them, leaving me with a razor knife with a jagged, dull blade and a construction pencil with what looks to be a sharp lead point, that falls out the second you try and mark something.
Gonna grab this set, killer deal really.

Yep pretty good for a roll of quarters

This is awesome, I love self locking tape measures. Getting them for 2.50 is phenomenal. Thank you for posting this, now I have to go spend another $10.
Man, in the last month I have bought 16 tape measures. Like Todd said, they seem to dispear to Narnia or something, and take along my silver paint sharpies.

Just FYI, these $10 Black Friday deals go down to $5 and then $2.50 if they stick around in the store long enough. I picked up a set of these and the Stanley pliers for $5/ea last year, long after Black Friday.

It depends on the store and the product.
Last year, I kept checking back, and nothing was discounted further. They simply sat there until the next seasonal changeover.

My experience is the stuff goes down, then goes back to regular price after that.
One store that had a ton of the $10 Stanley pliers sets after BF in 2017 but didn’t mark them down with stickers, even though they scanned at $5.00 and then $2.50 in the weeks after BF, had them for $9.99 through this year.
Just a heads up for the tightwads, really. I felt $10 was too much given the poor quality of the pliers/tapes, plus I didn’t want to bother with the BF crowds at wallyworld. Getting them for half the BF price and without wasting hours of my life in any line made them a much, much better deal.

I must be getting old. Used to love the biggest Fat Max I could find to carry. Now I really like the little 12′ leverlocks for most of what I do. They are light, not so chunky, and I’ve come to dislike the sliding thumb lock which got way stiff on some of my old ones. In fact, I think I just talked myself into buying a second set.

I had not made the connection between aging and wanting a shorter tape measure until you said it, now I know why I bought the 12′ Empire tape measures last week.
I tend to allocate specific measures to particular boxes in a sometimes futile effort to try and know where things are. I wanted these to go with my Bosch tools so blue means if I see them with the Milwaukees or the Metabos they are in the wrong place.
Coach James
I bought a couple sets of these last year, except they were green. I keep a 12′ in my car and truck for when I need one at the lumber store. All of them have had a lot of use and I would buy them again if I needed more tapes.
Steve
Hey Coach, I understood your post until you started talking French there at the end. What does “if I needed more tapes” mean in english? Whatever it is I’m sure it doesn’t mean someone might not need more tapes since they disappear like a worthless brother in law when you need one.

Man, I thought the $10 Stud @ International Tool was a great deal, now I wish I got this. But I already ordered two Studs.
I agree with Todd, I haven’t gotten to having too many tape measures.
Except for the harbor freight ones, I thought I could live with those, but everytime I use it, I just want to throw it away and go get the fatmax.
I don’t even think I would donate the HF because I don’t believe in giving someone a tool that I wouldn’t use myself.
