Surefire G2X Flashlight (Tactical Version) for $55!

Surefire G2X LED High Output Flashlight

Over at Amazon, Surefire’s new G2X high output LED flashlight is currently priced at $55, normally $95. If I recall correctly, these flashlights were priced at $55 when they were released late last year, but not for long before shooting up to $95.

The G2X tactical version features a single 200 lumen output and has a battery life of 2 hours. These flashlights are waterproof and have tough Nitrolon bodies with a momentary-on and twist-on tailcap. Each flashlight comes with two CR123A batteries.

Update: As of 8am 5/5, it looks like the G2X has sold out and is no longer available at $55.

Update: The one I ordered and received turned out to be the “Pro” model. If any of you took advantage of the deal, which model did you receive?

I got the ‘Pro’ one as well. Reading the descriptions at Surefire.com, I think the only difference is the lighting modes from the tailcap (Pro has a low power mode). I think I might prefer the low power mode. I’ve had a Surefire L4 in my EDC kit for a few years, which replaced my E2E for longevity, but even the L4 runs through the 123A’s pretty quickly!

The difference is with the lighting modes and the switch. The tactical version has a momentary on and twist-on switch, the pro has a momentary on and push on, with 2 activations needed to go to low and then high modes.

Ultimately I’m okay with the Pro model. It’s quite a bit brighter than my G2L, as expected, but I’m not sure I like that the light is noticeably “warmer.” Also, the head assembly seems to be locked in place, not that I had any plans of upgrading it.

Overall I’m pleased with the flashlight, although I can’t help but feel that it has been cheapened slightly compared to the G2 and G2L bodies.
