I too got the Acme email this morning and used it on a $299 item. No glitch this time – the $45 off worked without any problem.
Another email I got this morning was from Max Tool. They offer a free Makita bare tool with the purchase of a battery/charger starter kit. They also have a deal with a free bare tool with a Dewalt Power Stack battery pack purchase. They also have a buy one get one on Milwaukee M12 batteries and a free bare tool with a M12 Fuel Kit and some tiered (buy more save more) $off deals on Milwaukee. I did not try out any of these deals.

Toolup – also sent an email about Dewalt and Milwaukee deals – that I didn’t try out:

Toolbarn – also seems to be doing a tietd saving deal on Milwaukee, plus a free battery deal when you buy some Metabo HPT items:

I assume the Acme “KICKOFF” discount applies to each order. I placed two separate orders with promo code on each. Looks like they accepted the discount on both. I don’t usually shop on Sunday, but since it was for safety equipment i went for the discount.

It’s $15 off each $100 you spend, so it doesn’t matter if you do two orders of $100 each, or 1 order of $200, you’ll still get $30 back. I don’t know why they feel the need to list it like they do. Maybe they think people who buy tools can’t add. Usually, when they list it like that, it’s because the more you spend, the higher percentage you get back. In that case, it WOULD matter to put it all in one order. There was a Toolnut discount on Milwaukee Packout last month that was like that.

It’s a bit of a dance that they make you do. If you buy 2 items each costing $299 via 2 orders – you get $90 off ($45 x 2). If you bundle them into the same order – you only get $45 off. If you buy a single order over $299 – you are capped at $45 off. A straight 15% off deal – would be better if you were buying something like a tool costing $599 – but most straight % off deals also set a cap on the total discount.
Back in the days soon after Grainger launched Zoro Tools – they offered 25 % or even 30% off deals with no caps. We bought a Miller diesel engine welder on one of those deals – saving $ thousands on their price – and way better than we could negotiate with a local supplier who claimed he would lose money at that price

They list it this way – and I follow suit – because the discounts are not always linear.
Sometimes it could be $10 off $99+, $20 off $150+, and $30 off $200+. For discounts like that, you need to list out the different tiers.
When you have to say “$15 off every $100 you spend, up to $45,” it’s simpler to just write out the different tiers as every retailer does.
When dealing with sales, discounts, or promotions, it’s best to eliminate any chance of confusion or misunderstanding.

Right, to list it all out like that makes sense when it’s not linear, like the Toolnut deal I referred to. But I get your point, just list it all out to avoid confusion even if it is linear, BUT is there a $45 limit then per account or just per order like the original poster was implying?
Stuart
Some deals are supposed to be “one per customer,” and it’s enforced. With Acme, they’re usually just “one per order” with multiple orders permitted.
If I recall correctly, some say one per customer but it’s not enforced. Since I don’t take advantage of every deal, it’s impossible for me to check for every promo.

Thanks for the Sunday specials heads up, Stuart. Picked up a Makita 16″ cordless chainsaw with two 5 ah batteries and charger for $314 at Acme with the discount. About as low as I have seen that combo kit, especially with the 5 ah batteries.

I got myself an M18 air compressor “reconditioned” from Acme Tools for $230 with tax.
It’s not the best deal since some have reported Home Depot may have them on clearance for $160. However, that’s a rare find.

UPDATE. Received mine today. It was a brand new tool! Of course, without the original box, it has the hand scratch writing on the side indicating the reconditioned factor.
I will heavily test it in the next 30 days to ensure I stay within the return time frame if things go south.
